This is part of the pathetic part of Lou's career - he was a speed addict and instead of helping him his management put a superb collection of studio musicians behind him and sent him on tour, addled by speed. Rock N Roll Animal is precisely the same and thereby ranks as perhaps the most repulsive musical work ever constructed.
