yo tina b you music is like no other i wish u make some more. n by the way r u puertorican because u voice is so angelical n prity sweet like honye 2a bee
TINA B was the wife of music producer Arthur Baker and he was a very talented music producer, producing some of the best rap music back in the1980's. The Latin Rascals were his chief producers and editors at Shakedown Studios and he would not trust anyone else to remix and edit TINA B's music, only The Latin Rascals. The editing work they did on TINA B's song JANUARY, FEBRUARY was amazing!!!!
Arthur Baker,John Robie and Akrika Bambatta are the fathers of Electro Funk, which fell under title "freestyle" in N.Y. during the summer of 1987.Before that,it was called Miami Bass in Florida and Electic Boogie in some parts of California during the early 80's. "Pretty" Tony Butler,a producer from Florida, recorded under the group name Freestyle, begining in 1983...4 years before anyone hear the word linked to Arthur Baker and John Robie's Electro Funk...
just look for music by Tony Butler to see his work under the Freestyle name.Tony Butler's music was almost the same as Arthur Baker's except that Tony recorded a lot of instrumentals. This information is important so people who admire this music could appreciate the rightful founders of this genre.
BMX on the radio in Chicago in the early-mid 80's. My brother used to make the best mix tapes back in the day, can't believe I found this on the net LOL. RENEGADES THIS IS THE TIME AND AGE
The latin rascals were the best. production and remix credits: don't break my heart - safire one way lover - tka tears may fall - tka show me - cover girls inside outside- cover girls silent morning - noel january february - tina b honey to a bee - tina b i wonder if i take you home - lisa lisa arabian nights - latin rasclas mondolay - latin rascals
I collected tons of freestyle music before I became a house/techno head. This type of music is ageless, so much production and special effects goes into it. I never realized my freestyle singing dreams, but thank goodness because it died in 1989 when House Music broke from the underground scene. Los apagados, later became salsa singers.
I feel that the 80's era will eventually come back-as so in this decade but not as low key. Freestyle went out of style when the world became negative-especially when 1990 rolled in. I blame it totally on the 90's. To me-the 90's was a very negative decade...the rise of nasty diry south rap and east-coast banging....Why freestyle died out..which was because of this...which was from the greatest era of existence.
I think what really happend to this music was house, techno and salsa took about the latin vibe and since freestyle became over-ground got played out quick.
Hip Hop did have something to do with it but most of us club kids that created and partied to this music went on to House Music and clubs like RedZone, SoundFactory and Tunnel. Without the Latino engergy, this music cannot be.
I feel blessed to have been there and enjoy the scene to the max. From the Fun House to 1018 to Devils Nest.
one of my all time favorites, cruiseing ,radio blasting,,kicking car ,kicking stero,,wow,,old school...and clubbing,,went nuts when heard this!!!!!!!!!!!
OH mee GOSH!!! Thank you so much! I was thinking some time back to upload this big time fav of mine...but I got too much on my plate to ever come around to do it. Tanky, baby!
Damn, during my clubbing days in 1984. When it was common to hear a song like this at a hip hop jam. The good old days when hip hop and dance were under one umbrella.

1990 was not the downfall, it was more like 1992.
But FREESTYLE is on the rise now. I dunno if it'll ever reach the heights it did in the 1980s, but it's doing better now than the early 90s.
turbografx 3 years ago
I guess I say that because it seemed that around the early 90's all u would ever hear was house music....

This song is sooo great I guess it was overshadowed by Januay/February.
