  • How many people were at that show? Sure must have been a fun time...

  • Amazing!

  • god fish is just so in the zone his drumming is absolutely flawless in these

  • thtz my bday(= October 20, 1998

  • My dogs name is guyute

  • I wish there was a "Fishman Cam" for this whole video. He seriously needs to do a drumming DVD. He has much knowledge to drop. I love this band.

  • I died from taking a Mitsubishi Triple Stack E pill at Alpine Valley in 2000. It was during this song I passed out and died. Then when they sang "I'm bouncing like a new born elf" I came back to life and puked my guts out. True story.

  • this is the night i was born!

  • Back in the day from 94-98 nobody could touch Trey when it came to tone. He had i think 3 or 4 different rigs during those years but that is what made his tone unique.

  • im in love

  • I think some of them were actually nervous during this. I can tell by the way their playing, at least mike and trey, the really tense hands and the need for improvisation right after they mess up

  • mike looks bored : /

  • best guyute ever. hands down

  • @jets9119 i'm going to have to disagree....listen to the version from live phish volume 20 (12/29/94)

  • Life wouldn't be the same without this band. They just f'ing rule!

  • 6:35 the ultimate trey face.

  • @ phoundwaldo if you like fishman on this track, you need to listen to the 10-20-10 version of guyute in Utica, NY. I was there and fishman lit the place on fire with this song.

I just wanted to say that I wish PBS had used a camera man, or whoever is in charge of switching from camera to camera, who was familiar with Phish. They missed a lot of great stuff on this track by pointing the camera at the wrong guy at several different points in this recording. Other than that, this is awesome.

  • fishman most under rated drummer ever. No other drummer could bring to this music what fish does

  • @PhoundWaldo i agree 100% but i think its also safe to say all 4 of them are the most underrated musicians on the planet.

  • 1:45

  • absolutely amazing. i don't understand why some people hate on this song. i thought they were going to throw this out in charleston... but my friend my friend somehow squeezed it's way out of the jam.

i love watch page keep time on this song too. he's a musical genius... well... they all are.

  • this is and will always be one of my favorite songs and favorite phish break downs

  • Oh, my ears

    they're just awful.

  • Yes Trey is good, but Page has my vote for most musical in this band.

  • trey is insanely the best

  • MY B-DAY IS OCT 20

  • I can't express the amount of joy this brings me.

  • Best Guitar Tone in the Business !!!! Enjoy !!!!

  • The Best Guitar Tone in the Business !!!! Enjoy !!!!

  • Trey nailed that. I don't play but that can not be easy! That's why we love him folks!

  • @ 7:49 its like trey's hand got too hot from ripping too many crunchy riffs in a row, he needed to cool his hand off

  • trey's tone sounds so good here! I wish he would go back to this rig on or after this current 10' tour! !

  • I like this show on TV ! it's my precious memories. Thank you for uploaded

  • 3:18 is magic

  • '98 was such a sick year for them

  • well i wouldn't say underrated... just, never enough praise could be given to him as a singer/guitarist/musician that he deserves. ! in addition to Page.., Mike,.. anddd I can't forget Jon.

  • 4:31 = jizzz in my pants

  • 3:52

  • i just came

  • Trey, Gordon, and are spot on in this, as usual.

  • what a song. what a fuckin song. Can't stop the madness!

  • favorite phish song.... this is kinda the "creepy uncle version" but.. still good...

  • Trey is a Jedi!

    Boogie on...

  • my summary of this song:

    *beginning

    *whistling

*trey playing guitar better than you can in your dreams

    *fast loud trippy part

    *trey kicks more musical ass

    *slow quiet whispering trippier part

    *basically the beginning again

    *end

  • the best, simply put.

  • where is this?

  • ha trey looks so funy

  • Its pure music genius.

  • nella parte centrale assomiglia mooolto alla song della PFM Celebrecion XD....rimangono sempre dei grandi

  • That's why we don't want no nice guy.

  • @phasinated nice guy

  • MIKE FUCKING GORDON!

  • Amen mike fucking G

  • guyute was the ugly pig

  • An epic tune!

  • I'd drop $40 for these sessions on DVD. Such a great time for Phish... such a great environment too.

  • thank u for for putting the Sessions at West 54th up! ..... they are amazing... i only had a few downloaded.... i love youtube

  • epic!

  • Trey has to be the most underrated guitarist ever.

  • @Rosario3338 I think thats the best part about him, and its probably what he wanted..

  • @Rosario3338 To people who have a clue, he is not. I had the good fortune of seeing this song the 2nd time they played it live, it has remained a gem to me ever since.

  • I love the whistling at about 0:50

  • BEST TONE IN THE INDUSTRY

  • @richiemabie I think Frank Zappa is the most underrated guitarist....My opinion...

  • Trey is totally fucked. Like, bat shit crazy. But in a good way. :)

  • he has mental issues

  • seeing this song live was so fucking epic

  • I just saw it live for the first time last less than a week ago. Ahhhh, sweet bliss.

  • Story of the Ghost album is sick. This is a great example of why. How many twists and turns does Guyute have? What a song... Kind of crazy such a work of art revolves around the story of an ugly pig who danced a jig...And how scary/creepy/strange is "I'm bouncing like a newborn elf, I can't believe inside myself, Guyute glances in my eyes, and manages to hypnotize...me as I sleep the sleep of death he sucks from me my only breath...even crazier on the album.

  • I agree, it's great. But they didn't write this for the album, they were performing it in 1995.

  • trey. PBS. no commercials on PBS. silly trey

  • i love when they throw on little compositional changes to their heavily composed pieces, like the extension of the whistling section towards the beginning. Thanks for the upload!

  • I believe this song, more than any other, shows Trey's true compositional genius. Listening to the orchestral version on his solo album "Seis de Mayo" also helped me confirm that :)

  • this song amazes be too, one of their greatest compostions. This video is by far the best version too

  • this song amazes me man

  • Ditto fo sho

  • thanks for uploading this
