  • It's JACK BLACK ! X)

  • omg.. look at the tiny terror and the cabinets :O

  • Nice guitar!!!

  • I thought it was a DS2?

  • they make them :D

  • Good demo but there's a lot more to that pedal. I made a little demo with the OS-2 to a preamp and directly to soundcard. Check it out!

  • 1:48 Snakeskin boots? lol, call me a fuckass, but I clicked to another video when I saw them.

  • Lol that orange amp has so much grunge out of itself it doesn't even need the OS 2.. Nice demo anyhow :p

  • Does anybody know if this pedal sounds good on a solid state amp?

  • its not jack black. jack black does not have a slight southern accent.

  • that intro is epic :p

  • Sound good !!

  • yes, other than repeating the same things about the pedal. and playing the same thing over and over, play something to make people intrested!!!

  • nice demo jack :D

  • I've got this pedal, it's almost older than me! Been messing around with it recently, think its pretty good but it's a bit fuzzy for me. Not one for those who like smooth overdrive, for sure. xD

  • does this actually sound the same as working the two pedals together?

  • I bought my pedal used and if i step on it too hard it makes an annoying buzzy noise. So then i just unplug it and then it works fine. Any certain part that i would be a ble to replace???

  • Good demo...

  • if i had just a penny for each time someone said he sounds like Jack Black..

  • @technicouleurs he sounds like Jack Black!

  • @technicouleurs sounds like Jack Black... (free penny for you)

    Are you french ?

  • I really dislike the distortion side of this pedal, and find myself forever leaving the color knob all the way left to get only OD. Because of that, I'll probably end up swapping it out for a fantastic overdrive like the OCD instead one of these days.. I find that this is one of those pedals that you have to EQ your entire rig for, and not the other way around.

  • im gonna get that

  • =E

    vampire smiley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg :o they really don't make these pedals anymore ?

  • @Sil3ntDz yes they still make it

  • @beingthewanted94 ok thank's dude

  • @Sil3ntDz they do

  • what song are you playing to start with? it's awesome

  • Awesome demo! VERY Helpfull!! Thanks !!!!

  • GMD 4 PRESIDENT!!!

  • this thing is wild. i'd like to have this pedal. is it still in production???

  • @xthexTxvirusx you can get them used fairly easy for 40 bucks on ebay. and some stores still have them

  • oh my its jack black

  • love the shoes lol

  • I can't tell the difference between overdrive and distortion..can anyone please help me?

  • @emosucks01 This review was helpful for me. It has slightly better sound quality so it easier to hear.

  • @emosucks01 This review makes i easy to hear. Title: Boss OS-2 OverDrive/Distortion Video Review And Demo

  • @emosucks01 Well, it's a thin line but distortion is basically just more gain than overdrive.

  • what was the song used in the beginning? or rather the rambling used in the beginning?

  • is this a digital pedal or an analog pedal? how does it compare to multieffects pedal distortion? better? worse? warmer? thinner? muffled? clearer?

  • @punkiassjunki I have it and I think that it's digital, the saturation is more clear for the overdrive and more fuzzy for the distortion, and if you blend them you can get some interesting tones. To my ear is more darker than other pedals, but I really like it! The better thing is try it!

  • @BiaginiAlessandro This is not a digital pedal. Distortion pedals almost never are.

  • they still do them but their yellow now

  • Anyone know which is better this pedal or the BOSS SD-2?

  • nice alligator boots......Kickass! THATS AN AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anybody knows how this thing sounds on a bass?

  • you kinda sound like jack black, dude. cool pedal...

  • Great demo dude. That sold it to me. I'm putting that on my 'must buy' list. Cheers again.

  • I like your cool pointy boots!

  • Has the distortion side got the same power as the ds1 distortion?

  • tone drain

  • Forever lasting pedal! Had it over 10 years and works fine, unlike my other two pedals..

  • @MCXpress Hey do you think this pedal is better than the Ds1 or sd1 plz help me, im between those three. for what ive been seing this is more versatile. Do you think this is a good pedal to play different type of rock, from blink 182 to metallica?

  • @dddshuffle Very hard to tell, because it is the only distortion pedal i have ever tried. The color option in my opinion is very useful. You can make cool deep heavy or rock n roll type sound with it. I use GE-7 equalizer to boost things up and it sounds nice.

  • i like this pedal =D

  • so if you have a distortion pedal it switches between your clean and distorted channels correct? because i've always just used a pedal specifficaly designed to switch between the two.

  • @lpfanatik188 sounds like you want a footswitch for your amp...

  • @lpfanatik188 a distortion pedal adds distortion, or in this case overdrive or distortion, as stated above a footswitch is used to switch between channels. this pedals adds its own flavor of od/distortion

  • This pedal is currently in production.

  • Owls like worms, shrews, mice, seeds, grubs & other tasty treats.

  • can the overdrive be used for a boost?

  • The color knob seems to be a gain knob. it just ads gain to the overdriven sound......

  • @Shambles940 no it changes the timbre

  • @xxNailFirexx timbre?

  • @Shambles940 ...your kidding. you dont know what timbre is?

  • @xxNailFirexx i have trouble understanding what exactly it is....

  • @Shambles940 timbre is the quality or color (hence the "color" knob) of a tone distinctive to a particular instrument or voice. E.g., a C note on a guitar sounds different from a C note from a trumpet because they produce sound in different ways

  • @xxNailFirexx ahh....makes sense

  • HOLY SHIT IT'S JACK BLACK!!!!

  • i was just thinking that deutschbag4life!

  • boss style TS9+ grungy DS-2= OS-2 sound. Good pedal for classic metal.(note: the OD drops the low end and the DS is really fizzy.) first pedal i bought, love it

  • Comment removed

  • you should do jack black videos.. just saying. ha.

  • this pedal sounds supremely badass through my zt lunchbox. just sayin.

  • Holy crap this guy really does sound jack black (or is it him)

  • I think they still make these things, because I bought this kind of pedal last week.

But hea, it was in the Netherlands (Feedback @ Rotterdam), who know how long these pedals are lying down there!

  • I'm in an Indie band, we play like the arctic monkeys, the rascals, etc. and i was wondering if i should use an OD pedal or a distortion one. help me? thank you

  • @fuckingfernie i just got this yesterday and me and my friends play arctic monkeys all the time, mostly their first album stuff however, and it is perfect for it in our opinion (me and my friends)

  • @sydfan14 perfect, thanks

  • @fuckingfernie you want a proco rat 2 thats what they used on their earlier stuff. its a distortion

  • @hrrsn1 alex got rid of those after the first album, and switched to overdrive, so if you wanna play both albums get the Boss OS2

  • cause it can do both

  • @sydfan14 but the difference is that the proco rat distortion sounds good and whatever OD pedal alex got sounds good...this thing can do both yes...but it sounds like shit

  • @hrrsn1 well it does not sound like shit, and alex uses a TS808 reissue that's over $100 as is the Proco Rat 2, and this is only 90 bucks and sounds great in person

  • @sydfan14 okay

  • @hrrsn1 its not perfect, its not shit

  • @fuckingfernie depends how much money you have. alex turner used to use 2 proco rats. i have one of these and i play in a kind of indie libertines/AM's/white stripes/nirvana sounding band and for me, its good but not exactly what i would go for. my friend has one of these and they sound good! if you have the money to spend, get an Ibanez TS808 tubescreamer. theyre expensive but widely considered one of the best pedals ever made, it is also what alex turner now uses.

  • Jack Black ! Fuck !

  • Good Job GMD !!

Thanks for demoing Boss pedals along with the other good stuff !!. {;o)

  • hey mann r u jack black

  • I'm looking into modding it right now, it's pretty easy but there are no real demos of the modded ones, so you have to trust the description cause it's a pain to have to restore it to factory specs after modding one. I think I'll try the "Big/Full/Fat" Distortion circuit mod, and leave the OD factory set. (There is a bigfullfat mod for the OD circuit too). There's also a Marshall-ish mod that is fairly small. I'm considering messing with that too.

  • Cool demo. I bought this pedal for $40 in the used bin and it looks like it's been run over by a truck, and then tossed off a bridge. Anyway it sounds good to me, I use it on full OD because I find the distortion is just... well, not ideal. But i have a Dr Boogey for all my distorted needs so that's fine. The OD seems to cut the signal's extreme top and bottom ends off.. like it's coming through an AM radio. Pretty neat, and it mixes well in a band setting if you want to be behind in the mix

  • whats the difference between overdrive qnd distortion?

  • @ledzep250 overdrive is when you crank up a tube amp like an old marshall plexi or jcm 800, since they only have one channel you have to put it full blast to get dirty tones. overdrives help break it up to get that natural overdrive. Distortion is basically the same thing but there is more color and sustain. Players like Randy Rhoads used a mxr distortion plus with his jcm 800 to get his tone. I think its awesome when you use overdrives and distortions on old amp or single channels

  • @varone6t9 thankyou!

  • I recently bought one of these OS-2s from guitar center, they kinda gouged me since their price was $90 when I'm pretty sure I could have gotten it elsewhere for $75, but whatever, I'm content with it. it's really versatile and can have great sustain for harmonics so you can channel in anything you really need or want, as I have it set to a good old Motorhead sort of sound right now.

  • anyone know some good settings on the OS-2 for the band Tool?

  • its jack black for sure

  • They don't sell these anymore?? I thought they sold them at best buy or something. I must be wrong.

  • nice man. I notcied your playing a type of blues'y rock there like Stevie would. Have your heard about Joanne Taylor? Shes the next SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughan)

  • Yes he does.....

  • They still make 'em, Jack.

  • Jack Black recorded this video.

  • yup xD!!!

He do not need a microphone

His voice is fucking powerful XD!!!!

  • can someone help me out I got this pedal but its crazy quiet for some reason i need the Clean (amp) to be turned up all the way but when i turn on the distortion it gets way quieter. HELP!!!!! btw check out my bands channel listen etc. but more importantly help! message me

  • @GodSexWeapons did you check the level knob on the pedal? that's its pourpose: match the levels

  • what was the song in the begining?

  • @shreddernxtgen

I think it's the last song on the album entitled "Confessions" by Dweezil Zappa- shgogagoogagunga or something like that- can't remember the name exactly.

hard to find almum now- outta print i beleive. I used to have it on cassette and replaced it on cd a while back (off EBay)

  • Anyone know what's up the with noise at 1:06 behind the clean signal? Is it external (from the camera or recording interface) or internal (from the guitar, amp or pedal)? It seems to dissolve into the mix after a short while of playing, but I get the feeling that would irritate me in the studio.

And can anyone comment on the quality of BOSS pedals' bypassing? In other words, has anyone noticed their tone--or what have you--suppressing due to the lack of true bypass? Thanks so much.

  • sick sound!!!!

    love music like this

could somone tell me one guitarist who plays very nice guitar, but whitout some crying sing

    (sorry 4 my bad english)

  • joe satriani, steve vai, tom morello, jimi hendrix, van halen. no crying and great guitar sound

  • i own both distortion and overdrive, and what exactly is the difference?

  • distortion has a harder crunch sound to it if you listen overdrive sounds somewhat softer and almost fuzzy but its basically the same thing with just a slight difference I has this pedal.....tis awsome

  • sweet gear man

  • I own this pedal! (In fact, that's my only pedal for now) Really love it! Especially when you mix the distortion with a little overdrive, like say the color knob at 2 o'clock. It really gives me a nice Billie Joe Armstrong tone. If I push it to pure dist, it can give me a Metallica sounding tone. Really cool man!

  • I think that too ! It's preety much like Jack Black

  • @deutschbag4life yea you and 50,000,000,000,000 other people think that that lol

  • @deutschbag4life jack black is also guitar player ....

  • @deutschbag4life me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @deutschbag4life jack black is that you?@!

  • @deutschbag4life i think it is jack black..

  • @deutschbag4life Hell yeah!!!

  • both of you grow up and dont make yourselves dumb enough to have an argument over youtube

  • very interesting!!!

  • that pedal suck!

  • yeah let's see your face jack black plus great guitar and great stompbox

  • dist. sound better, add a lil reverb and a lil compression and u got a nasty sound!

  • Killer boots man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahahahahha jack black

  • omg!

do you have a tiny terror!!

why u need boss effect? :D:D

  • i have a dual terror, it can get a little basey especially if you have a hollowbody like me, these are good for getting a little more treble

  • i have the same one and it dusent sound so clean! its really scratchy ={

  • IS this better then the sd2 ?

  • You are Jack Black! Lmao everyone says that; you sound just like him! You make great demos thanks bunch for em!

  • They still make these. I Bought one yesterday

  • i have some effects on my amplifier... lets say, i have turned on "chorus" on my amp, then will "chorus" still be on when i turn on my pedal???

  • yes

  • @0oDenniso0 of course ?!?!?

  • yea

  • yes it will be

  • @0oDenniso0 yep

  • This is all that needs to be done with a pedal demo. The same riff played while switching between different settings and with/without the pedal on. Its very helpful

  • VERY helpful, i've been trying to figure out the difference between overdrive and distortion forever now, and words couldn't do it.... you did it in 4 minutes haha

  • What is that song at the begining?

  • The absolute best demos on YouTube, you rock Jack - I mean GMD!!!

  • Thank you for this, it is very helpful!

  • i think he's jack black O.o

  • ..You're...Right. lol he does sound like JB

  • FINALLY! the first great demo video!!!!!!!!this is the way to show a pedal!(make the SAME riff with different settings;it's simple but nobody does)

  • u sound like jack black :D are you.. xD

  • the riff he plays at the start sound like a beatles song

  • yeah it sounds like get back by the beatles haha

  • kurt cobain used the same torsion??? :D

  • no kurt used a boss ds-2 so he could switch between the 2 different distortions on the pedal with an external footswitch.

  • @deadline27 He never did that. He would allways have the Turbo at 1.

  • go suck one.

  • @deadline27

Yeah, what a noob you are.

  • ever released anything on a label? i have. ever been on tour? i have. ever seen nirvana live? i did. how old are you? i bet i've been playing guitar longer than you have been alive you dumbass kid.

  • @deadline27

    Aw, how cute?!

i have studiet kurts equiptment more than you have.

and i dont give a flying fuck what you done and been. Its about a pedal, not your fucking whole life.

  • you called me a NOOB. you are 15 years old. i've been playing for 21 years! you studied kurt cobain's equipment. ROFLMAO! you weren't even born yet when i saw nirvana live and met them! also, learn to spell... oh yeah sorry i forgot you have a few more years of schooling left. HAHAHAHA don't call people noobs when you have no clue who they are and respect your elders! LMAO.

  • @deadline27

What does that have anything to do with a pedal?! OMG! YOU should grow up, insted of saying things that has NOTHING to do with the subject!. And agian, i dont care that you have seen nirvana and met them? What do i need that information for?! and yet agian, you fail by saying "Respect your elders!" oh god..

  • alright, your point is taken. this is the best goddamn distortion pedal ever made. how's that for staying on topic? oh yeah and i just realized that we are both wrong. kurt used a ds-2... not this pedal. ever.

  • @deadline27 Kurt used a ds-1... :P

  • @lufc550

He did in the Bleach and Nevermind era, but when the DS-2 was realesed, he used that one.

  • @deadline27

Yeah, i just wantet to correct you by saying "Kurt never used this pedal" and you said "Go suck one"

  • also, i'm not polluting gearmandudes channel anymore with this nonsense... he does good reviews and i didn't realize this was his video. see? respect for your elders! lol

  • i want one

  • gmd is a wizard

  • I kinda maybe sorta shouldnt have sold this pedal maybe

  • its almoste the same rig that i have but i have an epiphone standard with seymore duncan alnico pro 2 and a marshall cab

  • jack black??!! o.0

  • is this like the od-1 and the ds-1 in one pedal?

  • That would be the SD1 and the DS1 in one pedal

  • he is jack black!!!! i know that voice

  • Yep, I'm convinced, I'm getting one of these.

  • is this a made in taiwan or a made in japan? theres a huge tone difference depending on where its made..

  • they are assembled in taiwan i think, but inspected and manufactured in japan

  • alright cocky bollocks i was only askin.
