How do you choose a power supply that's powerfull enough for your PC build?

Do you just add all the watts of your video cards, hard disks, cooling, etc.. and then take some margin to be safe?

@Claeys67 Basically. It depends on the setup you're running. High end set ups like this should consider nothing less then a 850+ PSU. Normal setups are fine with a 400+ PSU. Another factor to be taken into account is the PSU's efficiency. An inefficient PSU will convert the majority electricity for use with your components. But a considerable precentage is wasted as heat. Heat=bad for computer.

That power cable is NOT exclusive to Silverstone PSUs, it is a standard 20 amp cable and very common in a variety of electronics and appliances.

have the same psu, had some issues with the sr2 and this psu but silverstone customer support (the dogs bollocks) theyreplied to emails very quick and sent me out a complete set of extra power filter cables (the ones in the video are standard) its very quiet.
