Anonymous are not hacking any of these sites, they're using LOIC to launch DDoS attacks whcih basically overwhelm the servers with requests so that the website becomes too slow it's effectively shut down. As soon as a DDoS attack is stopped the website will come back.
I disagree with you on this one, Dan. Although I do agree in part, that 'anonymous' leaves a lot of room government 'infiltration'. I think it is important to emphasize that anonymous doesnt seem to be a group, you dont have to 'join'. This idea that gov's can introduce an 'internet 2' is over simplified, the internet is not just a thing in a box that can be taken and replaced. Even in China they fail to do so. As for "Internet 2", they can't even get IPv6 rolled out, so it's a massive technical challenge at very high cost. You can't change the fundamentals of the Internet overnight, you would need to upgrade software and hardware on a gradual upgrade path over many years.

The Occupy Wallstreet movement gets pretty much completely ignored, the outrage on the internet isn't taken into consideration and no peaceful demonstration ever got the people anywhere when they are up againt the government (which is supposed to protect the people btw, oh the irony), what, short of actual violence, will help us? The opinions of the people aren't important for the politicians, no matter how loudly voiced.
