@marilyn007monroe weight matters when two elite fighters fight or two similar skilled fighters go at it. obviously bob isn't an elite fighter, Cro Cop was. the poke in the eye didn't help Sapp in the fight either lol.
Even if Bob was an elite fighter I wouldn't bet on him at that weight. This isn't a 190lbs fighter facing a 250lbs fighter, this is a 300+ lbs fighter with no stamina. Sapp would not have the speed or stamina to be anything but a clown even if he had the skill.
@tubebunny7 aye he's huge, then again Lesnar's not much smaller considering he cuts from 290-300 down to 265 and by fight time is back up around 285 or so. Bob Sapp could be a great fighter if he did two things...One: Join with a great MMA Camp and learn some striking techniques and Two: Learn how to control his aggression to minimize his fatigue.

@gummianden100 Self control in a fight is key and can be learned, still the massive amount of weight in muscles he carries will always hinder him in cardio and maneuverability. With the proper training he can still learn to use his incredible power to slow down a fight to where he can wear out an opponent and keep himself fresh. It's all about self control and that is something found within and must be willing to accept in not just fighting...but all aspects of life.

Hoost and Sapp are both technically in the same weight class. Sapp did still have 80 pounds on him though. Still if Hari did fight Buakaw, as you decided to use that as a comparison, Hari would have close to 100 pounds on Buakaw not to mention almost a foot height advantage.

@Velocity4000fps Sapp ussually had a special advantage with K1 refs because he's a freakshow that brings in ticket sales. Much like Masato has won several fights purely because of being Japanese.
It's somewhat less terrible these days with K1 refs. Although this year, Sagadpet got away with a headbutt and outrageous numbers of punches to the back of the head in his fight with Glogowski, and the ref was like 'Nothing wrong here, move along folks'.
Bob's punches are more like pushes, he tries to overwhelm his opponent in the 1st round due to poor cardio and lack of skill... He'd probably dominate in Sumo.
This is just unfair: there are 70 KG of difference between these two, as you you don't allow regularly bantam weights to battle heavyweights, the same would have been with this fight.

the only bitch in this discussion is sapp himself. hes the bitch of the japanese k1 contractors. the only reason why that on steroid raging neanderthal, is "fighting" in the ring, is marketing. they wanted to attract more poeple, and make the k1 events bigger then just the matches alone. japanese love weird and abnormal, so getting that, meant more poeple, and more entertainment. in other words, "fighters" like bob sapp and hong man choi are modern, japanese freakshows...

@Velocity4000fps Sapp ussually had a special advantage with K1 refs because he's a freakshow that brings in ticket sales. Much like Masato has won several fights purely because of being Japanese.
It's somewhat less terrible these days with K1 refs. Although this year, Sagadpet got away with a headbutt and outrageous numbers of punches to the back of the head in his fight with Glogowski, and the ref was like 'Nothing wrong here, move along folks'.
