SO WHAT if he is a celebrity? hes still human. Im a financial analyst, its my J - O - B. Just like acting is his job. This situation will affect all of us. He is using his resources to help in whatever way he knows how. I suggest everyone else do the same. Turn off ur damn lightbulbs when u go to work if u cant help in any other way.

I don't think having the guy from "Fight Club" testify before congress helps at all!! In fact I think it belittles the credibility of the factual science because it's an actor, and celebrity that is making the points and not a scientist. Last but not least when you use celebrities to push an agenda you may find that they want a particular green backed chair to sit in while testifying, or find yourself beholden to equally ridiculous demands!!!!

This is a ridiculous statement. He's been dealing with issues concerning environmental sustainability for a good time now. He wasn't chosen at random from a group of celebrities. If our environment had a voice, I doubt that it would discourage certain individuals from supporting an issue like this one, which is of such great importance. You certainly don't have to be a scientist to understand that our environment needs help.

. Mr. Norton is taking a stand for what is right because he feels it's important. I'm surprised that anyone would question this video especially on an topic like this.  You act as if Mr. Norton's agent suddenly dropped a pile of papers on his face and said "deliver this speech to our congress". Sure, they could have used a representative to present this statement to congress, but doesn't that seem just a little redundant?

With that said, most of us are aware that Mr. Norton's roles can be overly violent ("Fight Club") as well as vulgar in many instances, however In terms of unity; this is exactly what our nation needs. Are you really going to categorize Mr. Norton into a group of alleged non-thinkers? We need actors, we need school bus drivers, we need stay at home moms, we need teenagers, gas station employees, construction workers, and we need anyone and everyone to voice their opinion.

In order to make a sincere change for our future, I believe that it's vital for all individuals, regardless of their occupation, to make some effort towards improving our environment.

That's great that he's been an activist for so long and I hope he keeps it up. It's just seems so random! How many bus drivers, stay at home moms, or construction workers have their activism culminate in congressional testimony?

I canvassed for GreenPeace for 4 years and I wouldn't presume that I would be qualified to testify before congress. Despite your lengthy response you never addressed the chair? I think it illustrates my main point of how celebrities are treated differently.

Of course you wouldn't seem qualified to testify before congress...Who really is qualified to testify before congress, those that are already at that level? Maybe celebrities are treated differently? In this case, who cares if they are? It could only improve our situation. Most celebrities are very well of in terms of their resources. In most cases, we look at congress as this "higher power" where individuals like ourselves often feel as if we have no way of making improvements.
