At first I though I had to turn off the tx to induce auto pilot. The great thing is it can be activated by a switch on the tx. This allows me to still be able to control the Pan Tilt on the camera. With the latest software there are more modes, like wawaypoints, heading hold, position hold, stabilization mode, etc..
For rx channels I recommend at least 7 if you want Pan-Tilt capability. I have an 8 channel rx.
The artificial horizon in the center is created by IR sensors.
@mevmevmev thank you so much for your information. i truly appreciate it. there is so much to learn and really no "manual" . your info and video are great sources of
reference and i will use your knwoledge and experirnce to try to make a good decision instead of throwing money at the solution.
i have a futaba 7c. 2.4. i got a 900mhz tx/rx for video. im trying to see if i can rig my sony webbie to the rvosd. i have rca video output but the osd has the small plug.
@stormranger6 Most people use basic servo connectors for the video signals and power. Shielding is usually not needed at the short distances on a rc plane.
I would recommend looking at the rcgroups. com FPV forum. There are lots of good ideas there.
Hia, ive been trying for ages now to get the right set up. Got plenty of planes to put the equipment in just want to get the correct, cam etc. So I want to get:
*cam as good as yours here
*OSD
*GPS
*FPV
*Recordable footage (which urs of curse is.
What sort of money and any chance you could give me the product list you have used?
Great video.. what camera and plane are you using? I've been runnin an old KX131/600mw/2.4g setup and think I may have to grab this OSD when its available again. Thx
@izne Infrared sensors pick up the temperature difference between the earth and the atmosphere. The signal is fed to the OSD and displayed with the other info.
Thanks, My setup is fairly new, I'll try the derivative adjustment sometime. I also figured out how I can pan-tilt the camera while on autopilot so I hope to get some better looking videos soon. I own a recording studio so I had some Ideas on how to place/adjust the microphon. I didn't have a spillter at the time so sound is only on left channel. My next videos will have both channels.
how many TV lines is this camera? it looks very good!

@stormranger6 I don't know. I got the camera free out of some home IP cam system. It has some color flaws, but is better than I expected.

outstanding video.
looks like an F-16 HUD :P the autopilot did you can you also engage it with a switch or is it fully auto when you lose TX signal?
your range showed about 800 meters when the AP engaged. did you turn off your RC TX to induce the AP function?
do you have the IR stabilizers also with this OSD?
also how many channel RX do you recommend?
thanks !!!
Great video , i really enjoyed it.

@mevmevmev thanks i have been combing the FPV forms for some kind or roadmap and pictures that will help.
i learn as i go, but some lessons can be quite expensive and enough to take the wind out of your sails.
thanks for everything!

My camera is an unknown type, but the $100 cameras from rangevideo . com or other fpv sites should be as good or better.
OSD is from rangevideo. com (RVOSD)
GPS came with the RVOSD
VIdeo tx and rx is also from rangevideo. The 2.4GHz 500mW system
I just use an old camcorder to record and watch while I fly. Video goggles would be a much nicer view.

My plane is a Multiplex Easy Star. I would suggest looking into the Easy Glider, or Twinstar also.
rcgroups . com has a great FPV forum with lots of people that can help you get setup.

Wow! cool. Who makes the Autopilot? Need one of those.

@34scot It's the RVOSD from rangevideo. com.

The camera make model is unknown. I took it from a home wireless camera device. I think the resolution and color is somewhat poor, but it was free!

Excellent sound (rare on youtube) and recording, tells a lot about the tuning performance plus really beautiful area! Keep posting videos.

after flying over home waypoint the AP hesitates wheter to turn left or right.

It is lacking derivative term or way too strong heading gain.
