I love when Death Cab put a little grit on it. Their softer stuff is great too but they have a way of making the "musically aggressive" still seem pretty darn refined.
68 people have liked my new song, but I'm hoping to get 1,000 so please go listen. I'm not trying to make it big or make any money, I just love making music and sharing it with other people.
Ben's playing a GNL, they make these strat types with tele necks/headstocks. The whole band has been using them for some time, although I think that he uses the tele version more prominently now a these days.
Being an old time rock and roller this band puts me in mind of the Allman Brothers some of the jams they used to do, and by the way I saw the AB Band at the Fillmore in the very early 70's. This band is very impressive in their melodies. I REALLY like this band. I echo BilltheMiddleAgedCat, how the hell can you not like them?? Two Thumbs Up!
I miss Ben Gibbard being chubby, I know he's still the same person, but the way he carries himself now is a little different. I'd kill you all to be here at this video.
You can kill us but you can't be in the video because it's already happened. Maybe Ben will fatten up again as he makes more money and consumes more food.
Did he loop the guitar part when Ben played the drums? Cos you can still hear the guitar being played while he is on the drums, but no one was playing guitar. Hmmm...
eww, this is NOT one of their better performances. i saw them about a week ago, and every song was amazing. they definitely sound much better in person.
actually i don't think it's a strat. look at the headstock. death cab doesn't play lots of real fenders from what i can tell. fenders are the most copied guitars out there so there are tons of other brands that look just like them. i know nick's current bass looks just like a p-bass but it's not. same with most of ben's guitars. if anyone knows what type of guitars they play currently or how they're modified i'm really interested.
high end stratocasters have that headstock, but I know what you're talking about. The ones on the Mexican strats look different. Notice its the same headstock as the telecaster that the lead guitar plays.
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter!its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F1 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd
I love the fact that DCFC seems more concerned with topping what they did last time, instead of simply relying on label input for future projects. That's the kind of thing that's killed the buzz I've had for so many bands in the past.
I like the fact that in this song you can see that the band can really jam live. Most indie bands can't. They are good for about 3 or 4 minutes and then the song stops. But DCFC can jam.
Great stuff :) I've been meaning to get a copy of drive well sleep carefully for a while now. on the DVD, is there a way to turn off the commentary? and just have the music intact?
First off, what a mind-blowingly awesome arrangement of We Looked Like Giants. Holy shit.
Second, it was sad news for the indie world when DCFC signed to Atlantic, but I think it's actually helped make larger audiences aware that there is a whole lot of music outside the mainstream. Post-Barsuk DCFC definitely opened my eyes to the local Northwest sound.
Love this song, love DCFC, and this album is amazing... still listening in 2012

Fender Stratocaster.

actually i don't think it's a strat. look at the headstock. death cab doesn't play lots of real fenders from what i can tell. fenders are the most copied guitars out there so there are tons of other brands that look just like them. i know nick's current bass looks just like a p-bass but it's not. same with most of ben's guitars. if anyone knows what type of guitars they play currently or how they're modified i'm really interested.

I do believe that they're using G&L guitars. I don't know the model of the bass, but it looks to me like it's a Fender.
justme3901 3 years ago
you're right, i researched it. the body has a sharper shape to it, it's a g&l or a mike lull custom. not a fender.

it could be a custom shop strat with a tele head and neck.
