  • this is sad but did anyone hesitate to turn the volume up due to the fear of having a really loud scream or face pop up lol i did lolololol

  • I keep watching this clip over and over. I feel like this is my situation. My boyfriend had to leave the country and I don't know when I will even see him again, let alone when we can be together permanently. Now I am stuck with the rent and all of our bills, waiting. He's been away for 5 months now and I don't know what to do but I feel like I can't hold out much longer as we drift further apart.

  • It's hard to say this is the saddest scene, the end scene where marion is cradling her score after she sold herself out rivals this, but it's like her final cry for help when she asks Harry to come back by today.

  • i love the soundtrack but dont understand the movie

  • this movie's so brilliant.

i just wish someone would upload the "be exited" scene.

  • last call.

  • thats how i see it: she knows catastrophe is coming and asks him to come back asap, but that crackhead idiot who previously set her up with someone, chooses to lie to her. thats why she fixes her make up and dry the tears, her love for him is dead, she lost faith and became a tool, a mashine...her acting is sublime in the scene, as in the entire movie

  • Can you come today?

  • weirdst fucking movie ever!

  • "can you come today?"

"Yeah, I'll come, I'll come today"

Why is that even though this scene makes me feel so sad, I can't stop hitting the replay button?

  • what was the effect of her dabbing her eyes afterwards?

  • @dineshn

like the meaning? It means that she hears what he has to say but it still willing, more than anything else,to do what shes about to do with that guy for her drugs.Shes talking with him but is still trying to look nice so she can score drugs.

  • The very saddest moment is when she pats the tear away with the tissue, to protect her make-up.

  • Only movie scene that's ever made me cry.

  • stupid

  • This scene is absolutely beautiful </3

  • I love how they don't say words like "goodbye" or "I'm not coming back". They pretend nothing's wrong even though they both know that would be the last time they talk to each other.

  • The phone scene is probably the most beautiful movie scene of the 21st century.

  • Wenn er das Wort "soon" sagt laufen mir Schauer über den Rücken! Und wenn sie dann fragt ober nicht heute kommen könnte muss ich los heulen jedes mal!

  • I love the music that plays when they're talking. It's like euphoric. The music reminds me of talking to my boyfriend.. calm, excited, intense, euphoric.

  • ass to ass!

  • aren't we all authors of our own suffering? does it make it less sad? it's true that these are pretty hollywood actors and that makes it more accessible for people, but i also think we see their story in a way that we wouldn't in real life. we may not feel bad for the junkie on the corner, but he/she has a story too

  • @sensibleunsensible your comment is so freakin true

  • I thought my day was bad. Thanks for a dose of perspective.

  • My friend died like this a couple days ago... As much as I want to see this movie, I don't think I could handle seeing what he went through ever since he was hooked on heroin. I'm never going to do drugs..

  • She looks sexy !! yummmmy super hot !! I'd love to fuc- the shit out of her !!

  • The best film I'll never watch again

  • Whats the name of this song on the soundtrack?

  • @cottoncandychic "ghosts of future lost" by clint mansell

  • painful

  • Such a sad scene. One of the saddest to me in the movie. It shows how dead and at the end their relationship is, because they love each other and can never see each again, and they known it. But they can't say it....

  • @tall32guy Very, very sad... when he gets his arm amputated and the nurse assures him she'll come in an attempt to comfort him... That was the worst. Not even then do they see each other.

And just knowing what she's getting ready to do when this phonecall happens...

  • @tall32guy after the end of the movie does he go back to jail or does he move on

  • @nbutthead Can't tell you; it would spoil it. Watch it to find out. :)

  • @tall32guy i have it just doesnt say or give you an idea what happens after the end of the movie

  • @nbutthead well they dont show that but in cases like that they wait until patient feels better and then they send him back to prison

  • @tall32guy

i guess you're a bit wrong. its not a very emotional moment to them. of course they love each other but their drug addiction is stronger.

  • I'm kinda like harry , I do hash and coke , and im an alchoholic , I feel this guy so much everytime I see this part/movie , im like 80% sure this will be my end in a different way , but very simliar , my girl that I love is in sweden and I cant see her now for 3 months , she says can u come today ? and I just say soon , I hope so .... so I can start a new fresh life.

  • I can't understand that movie...

  • certainly a pre-iPhone production

  • LETO SAYING SOON DOESN'T MEAN NO GOOD.

  • @nso1256 heroin is a powerful narcotic that few have control over once they use it. I don't know why there are a few who can use and stop when they want to, but I am positive it is only a few who escape addiction who choose to use heroin. God bless.

  • @orchidtender How dare you sit there on your high-horse, openly not an addict, and say "fuck junkies, let them die." What right do you think you have to judge these people? You have NO clue what that world is like you insensitive prick. They don't deserve treatment and understanding? Like you've never made mistakes in your life - and I'll bet you had help. What makes you deserve any fucking better? Maybe if people took the time of day to help instead of crit. this wouldn't be such an epidemic.

  • @Mogedon92 Anyone can control sticking a needle into their fucking arm. Can I control my dog dieing? No I fucking can't. Druggies don't have a right to "sensitivity" because they brought it all on themselves. And don't give me that "they grew up with it" bullshit. Yeah we should help them by finding all their drugs and sending them to fucking jail. Oh wait we already do that. And an epidemic is an infectious disease, not a retard doing retarded shit.

  • @Ownmanship Everyone makes mistakes.

  • @Jenna10227 Hitler and Osama made mistakes, do you forgive them?

  • @Ownmanship I hope you realize what you said made no sense whatsoever. In their eyes, they didn't make "mistakes". Think about what you say before you say it. You're an idiot. I feel sorry for you and your lack of empathy. I hope you never have kids. You are really ignorant. Stop acting like you're better than everyone.

  • @Jenna10227 Sticking drugs into your body isn't a "mistake." It's being a dumbfuck who thinks they're cool for following a status quot. I'm not acting like I'm better than everyone else, I'm just better than all druggies, junkies, alcoholics, etc. because they don't deserve any respect for being so weak minded.

  • @Ownmanship You are awful. Stop replying to me.

  • @Jenna10227

    >Lose argument

    >"STOP TALKING LOL.

  • @Ownmanship LOL whatever you say, insensitive piece of shit~*~*~*~*~*~*~

  • Comment removed

  • @Ownmanship Tell me, do you feel empathy for anyone at all? What the bloody hell makes you think you are better then druggies? Just because they have made mistakes doesn't make them inferior to you. They are still people. You seem to be forgetting that. You are a fucking prick.

  • @PTLover647 Actually I KNOW I'm better than druggies. And that pretty much explains why.

  • Comment removed

  • @Ownmanship well congrats u fratboy, teachers pet, ass kisser :)

  • I'd fuck that girl gently while I lick the tears of her pretty face....

  • @CareBearnot wat

  • @horrorgirlish u heard me bitch, now take of your thong and show me your genitals..

  • @CareBearnot Like we really needed to hear that..

  • @LilyBlueRoman Just exercising my freedom of speech.

  • @CareBearnot mhm..fucked up in the head...*cough*

  • @nso1256 i agree

  • Comment removed

  • my stomach dropped when she says those words. "can you come back today?"

  • Whatever. People are free to do whatever they want, but the statistics of heroin use don't lie. Very, very few H users don't end up addicted.

Like I said, free to do whatever. However, as that old saying goes, "your rights end where your neighbor's nose begins". Considering the public cost of treating junkies, and the cost of the crimes the commit to feed their habit (I was robbed 5 times in 10 years. 4 of those times the scumbags left their dirty works behind), I say fuck 'em. Let them die.

  • @nso1256 or so says the freaking druggie. Go die faggot

  • I remember when I was in St. John and Ben said, "Can you come today?"

  • i love how ppl feel sorry for actors in a movie but they treat ppl that are going through this like shit. such hypocrites

  • @SGVknarf weird remark to make.

  • @SGVknarf

True. Guess drug addiction isn't tragic if it isn't faked by beautiful, young Hollywood actors.

  • @SGVknarf Agreed it is silly, it's a cold relentless world, show some heart people!

  • @SGVknarf I only felt bad for Harry's mother and the black guy's mom. Harry's mom was too old to realize the dangers of those pills and the black guy's mom lost her son. But these other idiots, no I don't feel bad for them. They got what they were looking for.

  • @SGVknarf I only felt bad for Harry's mother and the black guy's mom. Harry's mom was too old to realize the dangers of those pills and the black guy's mom lost her son. But these other idiots, no I don't feel bad for them. They got what they were looking for.

  • @SGVknarf When it's just a movie you can feel bad for them without any action being required. Built in excuse for no helping them.

  • @SGVknarf amen to u

  • @SGVknarf

that's true, but i think it's also understandable and you cant condamn them for feeling like that. Most people are scared buy drug addicts because they find them unpredictable, which is often justified. but that makes this film even better, because it lets those people have a look at it from another perspective.

  • @SGVknarf Haha, that is so true. Damn they are good actors.

  • @SGVknarf yeh but we saw the story behind these characters so we don't judge. we understand them therefore feel sorry for them.

we don't know anything about the lonely druggie at the back of the bus. we don't understand him so we fear him and mistreat him. it's a common human trait to fear the unknown. that idea is the basis of racism and xenophobia .

  • @SGVknarf i agree

  • I'm Cry

  • I was laughing all the way through this movie, because junkies suffering and dieing makes me happy. They bring it all on themselves, and have managed to convince society of their touchy-feely excuse that their addiction is a disease. No, it's not a disease, it's a weakness. I grew up as a prime candidate for drug addiction, and - believe it or not - never got hooked because I didn't ever do anything hard.

It's that easy. Don't want to be a junkie? Don't do heroin, stupid.

  • @orchidtender true words

  • @orchidtender It's cool you feel that way; but it is so evident that this movie went way over your head.

  • @chazzy1450 yeah, I guess it was too subtle for me. LOL.

  • @orchidtender Ok they bring it on themselves, but further a certain point, no redemption and no going-back is possible. And that is a too cruel fate to not feel sad for them.

  • @beibo1989 All the more reason to not feel sorry for them. How many times does one have to be told his choices will ultimately result in his misery and destruction? Anyone this stupid doesn't deserve to live in my society. All I can hope for is that they'll die as quickly and with as little cost to ME as is possible.

  • @orchidtender No right to mistakes humm... And so because they waste your money, or because they are stupid, or whatever, they deserve to die. A little bit extreme no ? I hope for you that you don't really think like that and you say that just to be provocative.

  • Comment removed

  • I am as liberal as they come, but junkies are worthless scum who should be allowed to die. Ever met one? They're dead already - spending public money on "safe injection sites" welfare and bullshit touchy-feely PC programs designed to treat their "disease" just prolongs their demise. If you're old enough to stick the needle in, you're old enough to accept the consequences of your selfish quest for gratification.

    Fuck them all to death.

I hope this clears-up any questions about my sincerity.

  • @orchidtender I'm pretty sure everyone is allowed to die. But yeah fuck druggies.

  • Enable embedding, please.

  • Stay off drugs, smoke weed

  • Those are some big ass eyebrows!

  • After watching this movie and this scene I wanted to hold my boyfriend tight and never let him go..After 9 years I am still holding him tight.. I Love you so much..So much..

  • Ass to Ass??....ASS!! 2 ASS!!!

  • something about this scene scares me to my core. it shows the power of delusion and ignorance and hopelessness in a way that feels like a sock to one's gut. jennifer connelly breaks my heart in this. it's spooky because she's acting and yet there is no sign of life whatsoever behind her eyes.

  • People say, "Don't do drugs!" as if it is so simple. Do you not have a single friend that does drugs? If your life is miserable and you have even the slightest hook-up for drugs.. they can very well find their way into your life and consume you. With positive motivation and other such things you can fight it. Just don't shrug off that quote like it's nothing.

  • @buttshex it *is* nothing. It's a weakness, not a disease. I am a prime candidate - statistically - for what the experts call the "disease" of addiction, but yet I am not a drug addict. Am I special? No, I have (barely) a kernel of sense and self-respect. You don't have to be a genius or even marginally sensible to know that a lethal activity will eventually kill you. Fuck junkies. Let them die. They don't deserve pity, understanding, treatment, and especially subsidies.

  • @orchidtender Pretty much everyone is a prime candidate for drug addiction. Look at the legal things being abused such as fast food, alcohol and cigarettes. What would you say to those people? They aren't frowned upon as much as a "junkie" who abuses heroin or cocaine.

  • damn

  • Hugs not Drugs =D or the other way around....

  • I hate her so much for doing this :/

    Don't do drugs,.. never!

  • Go watch Trainspotting instead. This has nothing but a bunch of purty people doin' purty people being overdramatic.

  • @Zeanu bad ass mo fo innit bruv

    2 k tough

    rolf harris

  • @Zeanu wow dude....

  • @Zeanu By the way , trainspotting was realistic , yes that much is true , but it also showed humour in addiction , where there is none in real life .

  • ASS TO ASS! Took all the seriousness out of this xD. Hi I'm 12 and what is this.

  • The old lady is this movie scares me.

  • I rented this movie just about a week ago and when it all over I found myself just staring at the end credits compleatly speechless.

  • I always get chills when she asks him if he can come today.

  • @Jenna10227 it's so touching :/

  • To those of you who've either took drugs are not or for those of you who're getting to that stage of life where reality is hitting you harder than ether before , If you're going to watch this film for the first time I recomend you buy some tissues , I'm 22 years old , I've done some stuipid shit growing up , and I can tell you without shame , that I blubbered like a baby girl the first time I watched this film :/.

  • @MrChristophe156 You're 22, grow up a bit first.

  • @Zeanu I grew up when my mother died and I was kicked out at 15 .

  • can someone please tell me what harry's accent is?

  • @BabyVoiceVictoria I think it's Brooklyn?

  • @AllTheCoolKidsHateMe Yep. Brooklyn...

  • how will this film finish?

  • @mathewanumate badly :c

  • Aronofsky. That is all.

  • I cried. I can't tell a lie. I was crying like a baby.

  • @11Sweeneytodd This aint a movie for children to watch, you know how many disturbing scenes there are in this film including sex scenes?

  • @OnyxFreq yup and sex scenes aren't the worst of the movie...

  • How can this be disliked

  • This movie actually ruined my plans. I didn't feel like going out after this.

  • I've never seen this movie and this looks really fucked up, so what's it about?

  • @dmanstheone I hope no one tries to explain it to you...it's something you have to SEE. No words can do it justice.

  • @dmanstheone

Basically, in a nutshell, it's about drug addicts.

    Just watch it. It's intense.

  • ananı sikeyim cok duygusal bi sahne

  • first and last time i cried whatching a movie

  • This is one of the most emotional films I have ever seen. I love it!!!

  • ass to ass

  • My heart breaks everytime I see this scene.

  • Y U NO USE TRIPOD?!?

  • @GiantEnemyCrab63 Cause he knows what he is doing.

  • Harry? Can you come today?

    .... Yeah

    ....I'll come... I'll come today

One of my favourite movies :'(

  • THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST FILM IN THE WORLD AND I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT!!! I LOVE JARED'S ACTING!!!

  • @twilightandmusiclove Hi there! maybe he wasnt acting ! :D

  • i love this film and i love 30 seconds to mars :D woop

  • every time when i see this i cry "you wait for me, alright?"

  • everyone says this movie is really depressing and it totally is, but there's such a tragic inner beauty to every scene I think it's still worthwhile to watch just about every day..

  • watch the 'bed scene' from neat the start first, then this scene straight after. That portrays the whole message and tragic beauty of the film.

  • Don't take heroin!

  • @luisgarcia7 yup .. smoke weed and sniff Speed :D

  • @luisgarcia7 nothing at all

  • @luisgarcia7 You and Nancy Reagan would get along.

  • @luisgarcia7 Cocaine is fine?

  • most depressing movie ever made....

  • I can't even put into words my emotions and feelings for this scene. Just...

  • i dont get what happens with marion at the end of this movie, does she become a prostitute or something?

  • @supasta3 she uses sex for heroin

  • That nearly made me cry. Jared is one great actor!

  • Yes I agree - pure heartbreak. You really feel for these people. When he tells her that he'll come back home knowing full well that he won't, and even she knows that he won't, it's like, in that moment they both individually and yet mutually agree to pretend like this lie is in fact the truth. It's not exactly a discreet lie but it doesn't have to be. They're so far gone it doesn't matter. They just both need to hear those words.

  • @EminentKnight I didn't. Fake as shit.

  • this scene made me cry!!!!!!!

  • Ass to Ass!

  • @Sinochek lol wow

  • This may very well be the most emotionally heartbraking scene in the history of cinema.

  • Unless..they are showing first their pinned pupils while they are high, and then showing them dilate as they start to come down, needing their next bundle...

  • ok. they're doing heroin, yet when they are getting high, they show the pupils dilating, rather than constricting. Myself, and any other opiate addict or person knows that heroin makes for pinned pupils.Haven't seen this in awhile to remember what the drugs looked like, but-Harry andd Tyrone are obviously on heroin, and I believe Marion does heroin--but I think her drug of choice is coke-as you see, Harry and Tyrone are visibly sick from withdrawl w/o the dope--and Marion doesn't seem as severe.

  • @kismetdaisy No. She does heroine too.

  • @kismetdaisy Well at certain points they are doing cocaine, but yeah I know what you mean, when I was using heroin my pupils would get so small I'd be seeing blurry.

  • this scene blows

  • What music is playing during this? Its the best thing I've ever heard. You kind of have to own the DVD to hear it fully.

  • I cry every time I watch this scene, it is so powerful.

  • jared leto is a badass !

  • i dont get why he said i'll come home today if hes really not going to.

  • @pathedly its empty reassurance. he's having an emotional breakdown.

  • @TheElusiveBirdMan LOL you summed up my whole paragraph with one line. You genius!! Haha!

  • @pathedly he also genuinely wanted to go home to her, I don't think it occurred to him that he kind of couldn't, he sincerely meant what he said because he really did want to go home to her. He wasn't lying to her because he was intending to go home. That's the way I interpreted it anyway.
