This doesn't suck, but it's not great either. I'd give it 7/10. Keep practicing and you could probably nail it. Seems you have a good grasp on how it's played, just haven't quite reached your potential. Did not dig the tone, however. Needs more gain and is too "thin".
@TheSwampstuff Not on here trying to prove myself. After 38 years playing guitar I know what I here. If you don't hear that this person in this video rushed the song and was sloppy you must not be fussy with your playing.
@kevykev38 He obviously doesn't have 38 years experience playing and his effort was admirable and for the most part it was a good listen. Take your negativity somewhere else where they care to listen to it. With that much experience you should be encouraging him not bitching about how "sloppy" you think his playing was. Or perhaps you don't like Japanese people?
@ronin2167 Well encouragement and lying are two different things. Honesty is key to learning. Most players or practicing musicians do not know their mistakes until play back or most by letting them know what they are doing wrong. I do encourage. but when I see comments like "flawless" or "Brilliant" I can't stop myself. It's that nonsense that sends people to talent shows only for disappointment. I was adopted by an Asian family.
@kevykev38 you're being an over critical idiot. he hit a total of 3 open notes in one small run dude. this isn't a particularly easy solo. it may not be with ease but i doubt you could do much better. Nuno is Nuno for a reason. Seriously what satisfaction do you get in putting someone down who is clearly a totally decent guitarist like this guy? it wasn't horrible, he made mistakes. A lot of great players make mistakes.
@codebabe Yes it was sloppy and we shouldn't lie to a practicing musician and say "flawless" " that was better than Nuno himself." etc. I'm not really putting anyone down at all. Just letting him know that just skimming through a solo without getting it right especially making a video when it's wrong to me is a sin.
@codebabe No it's a sin to tell a learning/practicing musician he has it down when he doesn't. Yes the kid in the video is great. But telling him the performance was "flawless" or "the best"? Come on man be real.
@kevykev38 well i would agree with that. except i wish people would say,
"you did a good job here man, but here are some things you may want to focuss on". it was by no means flawless or as good as Nuno. I understand what you mean.
@highintel Nothing, that is my point. He was just using the word sin as an expression. Saying that it's a sin for someone to screw up a Nuno solo and for people to not point it out. I disagree, I think that you can be honest about a player's quality without being rude about it. Just because someone doesn't play totally clean doesn't mean they can't be great..hell look at Page and Blackmore's live playing from the 70's. RIDDELED with mistakes, but they're amazing guitarists.
@codebabe I agree! The last thing anyone needs to hear as a growing musician are these words..."You are Great". It sounds cold but those words are what make guys that suck think they are the best.
And youtube is full of them. And small towns...hehe I know, I live in one ;)
@kevykev38 You're a fucking moron. If you think this sucks, then you are completely retarded. He's playing the song with ease, smooth and funky as fuck.
There might have been a few slip-ups in the solo, but NOTHING major at all. If you think this sucks, you really have a problem.
@slash0x0x You have the problem. From "He's playing the song with ease, smooth and funky as fuck." to "There might have been a few slip-ups in the solo" ? It is what it is. He played it sloppy skimming over the tough parts and hitting random open strings. Come on guy your gonna sit and say that that was "with ease?"..??
Pretty good!
