It's simple to install it onto your hard drive. I started with a dual boot on the same drive as XP (own partition). So impressed that I went out and purchased a second hard drive for it.
Ubuntu's latest has an interesting setup where you can actually install it in it's own folder on the Windows' hard drive. They say it's slower that way but I could barely notice it.What I love about Linux is the security, no need for antivirus software nor firewalls.

It come with a firewall but it's unused.
