@novanine9 I'm not sure about other brands, but rotosound makes tape wounds for both guitar and bass guitar. The guitar version is called the "top tape". I'm a d'addario guy and primarily a bassist so I've not experimented with many guitar strings...
My first and only bass i got is a Slivertone (by Samick)
