  • It would be awesome if you could give a general diameter of the hat at row 14, so we can make it work for lighter or heavier weight yarns! Lovely video, beautiful pattern!!

  • You did a fantastic job with this video, the only thing you were fighting was the focusing on the camera but you always waited til it was focused so I could see it clearly. You did great! I'm super impressed!! How did you get permission from the artist to play her music. I need to learn that for my videos I make. THanks. I make puppy videos. I love to crochet!!!!!!! I'm so making this hat for my daughter who will totally love it and probably my younger sister who is 31...lol...

  • Cool nails.

  • Cute, i gess, kinda festive :/ and wth with the 'im a prep' music? y not make it bearable, i had to mute the video while watching it...but overall good i gess, i also suggest just using a bigger hook and thinker yarn to make the number of rows less, and it takes less time, but ya, anyways, good luck and other than the music, i look forward to seeing the next videos

  • DUDE This is AWESOME!! I am sooooo trying this!!!! :) thanx for this video...just starting to learn more about crocheting and this is sweet!

  • Hi, I have a question.. I've noticed that when I'm crocheting, all of my stitches are very tight which makes it hard to get my hook through the next round. Any idea what I could be doing that's making it so difficult? Thanks!

  • @Pokemonbra try not to pull the string so tight. just loosen up and relax :) that always helps me!

  • Thanks so much for sharing April. Cute hat and great video! Made a hat for my snowboarder daughter and thought i would have trouble with the back post and front post but u showed so well and no problem. It was great to learn something new!

  • this vid was great. I haven't touched a needle in a couple years but I was able to follow your pattern easily. I started yesterday and finished today.....I wish I could show you. I'm just so thrilled! Thankssssss :-)

  • i really like the music

  • Good video and a cool hat. Music was super distracting though I ended up having to mute it so I could concentrate! :) Thanks!

  • LUV THE HAT AND YOUR NAILS!!!

  • nice! I tried it out..didn't do the 20 rounds to achieve the slouch effect..great vid all the same! :-)

  • Hi,do u mean at the start of each round of the double post crochet we have to do a slip stitch and chain 2?

  • Love it. thanks

  • Hi April! Thank you for this great video! Just made this hat for my daughter and it turned out great!

I was wondering what the yarn you used is called? And the brand! Would like to make one that looks closer in color to the one you demonstrated!

  • do u still have that hat?? if so, can I have it? it's amazing!

  • Great video! I made this one today and it is by far my fave! I hope you make lots more videos :) Thanks!

  • @MadMrMim Use a larger hook. It will make the hat bigger. Hope I helped!:)

  • i could never do a magic circular, but i loved how u did it, that really helped. THANK YOOOOU!!!

  • I love your nails!! <3 <3 <3

  • This is a beautiful hat. Can you sell me one?? And I love your nails!

  • Wow- I just literally started learning 2 days ago-from youtube, but this will be my goal! I LOVEEEEE that hat!!! Great job-and great choice of colors. It looks too difficult- I hope to be able to make it some day. Right now I'm trying to get down the single crochet- finally got down the chains, and some other technique :) THANKS!

  • How long does it take you to make one of these, great video, btw :)

  • Hey i had those nails they r frum walqreens

  • Hey you did a great job. Can't beleive this is your first video. Love the music - very nice to crochet along with. Hope you'll consider doing more videos!

  • Awesome! Love the yarn and love your nails!

  • Hi [: Let me say, I adore this video. But I'm having some trouble with the rows. I'll crochet a few (like 4 rows) and by the 4th row, it's a wavy mess. My tension isn't too tight and I'm following the pattern, but it is still curling up..Do you have any advice?

  • How could one make this hat larger? I made one for myself, love it a ton, and a friend wanted me to make one for him but it's too small.

  • Hey there! I have a question, if your using a thinner string, will you still follow the same procedure or what? please answer back, thanks! :D

  • @ponzidoodle08 If you use a thinner yarn the hat will turn out smaller.

  • question...how would you make this hat smaller...for a smaller head? I made one for my sons friend and it was too big....I love this by the way and I love your videos...very easy to follow and you are helping me learn how to read patterns. Thanks

  • @cowbabypa Try using a smaller hook. Here is a tip to see if it will fit before you make the hat: Take the number of stitches you end up with at the end of the hat and chain that. Join it to make a circle. Then try it on the person. If it fits you have the right hook. I hope that made sense.

  • @cowbabypa On the very last row...If you slip stitch every other stitch this will make the hat fit better and it will keep it's slouchy shape. If that's not small enough skip a couple of stitches and slip stitch every 2 or 3 stitches. I just learned how to do this myself. I hope it's helpful :)

  • @lilmisspinkpankpunk thanks...I will try that

  • does this pattern work for double crochet btw great vid im 12 and i understand it :)

  • @fashionista470 I suppose it would but it would turn out longer. You could stop early and it would turn out alright :)

  • Dang Gurl! you got down on that beanie! I loved the colors, good eye. you're very talented and you can surely tell that you're a "cool chic", like me. I'm always the cool chic in the crowd. do people still say Cool? anyway, now im gonna cruse your channel look for more vids, i hope you have more tuts for us:) ha,ha j/k not sounding very "coo" i know, i'm old and can't help it! • why it doesnt worl on my lap top ??

    help me plz

  • @Elissa19992 I don't know, that has to do with your computer. Sorry I can't help.

  • Great looking hat :-) Easy to follow video, and I love the stitch in the brim you added, gives it something special.

  • @IvoryKohl Thanks :)

  • Whoa , i watched this vid like twice and then I decided I want to make this hat. It's so easy, and I've been crocheting for less than a week .

I'm about halfway through it and it's been a little over an hour. I'm excited to finish. THANKYOUU !

your instructions and video are fab. I only have 1 color right now. When i get more i'll do it somewhat like yours [ :

  • @xUGOGOx Awesome, I'm glad you like it :)

  • I am a new knitter/crocheter. I love your video. I am off to Michael's right now. I especially love that you show and "tell" your instructions. Your video also has a great view. Can see everything very clearly. I have a hard time following the written instructions so seeing the video really, really helps me.

    Can't wait for more.

thanks and keep up the good work.

    Brigette

  • Great vid April. Excellent job!!!

  • @quitchawhining Thanks :)

  • I had been meaning to tell you you should indeed make a video tutorial, SO glad you did. :) As always GREAT job. The tutorial is so easy to follow along and has a good view. Another great hat as well April!!

  • Can you pelase allow the video to be played on mobile? I started working on it watching it in my iPad, and suddenly it doesn't play anymore.

  • @arisilvaz I don't control that.

  • @aprildravenwhat size string did you use?

  • @aprildraven, yes i found out that i guess i was making the stiches too tight, but the bad thing is and idk why, but for some reason my hat turned out super huge, i usd the same size everything. lol its like, rasta hat huge, 0_0 idk what i did wrong.

  • Why does mine curl like its already becomeing a beanie even before the set of 20? whle yours stays flat?

  • @xXTheBuddXx What Round are you on? I don't understand your question. It should round a little bit because of rounds 7, 9, 11, and 13. but It shouldn't start to "curl" until rounds 15-34. Maybe you are crocheting really tight? I would have to see a picture to be able to tell you more.

  • Great video, great hat, and you are a great human being for taking the time and trouble to do such a generous thing! I love how you combine colors. If you are open for project suggestions, I would love to see a pattern for "Toothless/Night Fury" from the movie, "How to Train Your Dragon" and I would love to see a video about how to do the eye patterns that use the plastic canvas. I bought a few patterns and never did figure out how to do them, so the patterns just sit.

    xoxo Thresa

  • @Grangranof4 Thanks, I'm glad this helped out :) I was thinking about doing a toothless doll but I just have so many projects waiting to be done and it is summer vacation (family time). Maybe when winter comes. Time will tell :)

  • Thank you SO MUCH, for putting this video up!

It's been a few years since I've crocheted and my fingers have been itching to make something cute and this is definitely it! I love it and this is helping me tremendously! I love your work!

  • @lexylove27 Oh good ! I'm happy this helped :)

  • question? could you also in the very beggining just chain 8 and join them together? im just thinking its pretty much the same thing but if im wrong plz inform me

  • @camodudestrikesagain when you do it this way you don't end up with a huge hole in the top. You could chain 8 if you like but if I were you I wouldn't chain that many. Maybe like 2 or 3 then join with a slip stitch. That way the hole isn't HUGE. There are many ways to accomplish the same thing. This is just the way I prefer :)

  • @aprildraven thanks for the advice the music is great btw

  • Okay... Where do I even start?? :D

Awesome Video, Awesome Hat, Awesome Colors, Awesome Music, and BTW I don't know if anyone else pointed this out as well, but your nails are also AWESOME. :)). ;) Great video, hope to see more soon :) I can't wait to try making this one.

  • can u make more crochet tutorials

  • @LayLay093 I want to make more videos but I can only do them when I get some time. My daughter is about to go on summer vacation so things are about to get even more hectic. I was thinking about making a video on how to change colors and use a chart next. What were you interested in particular?

  • Awesome video. I love your hat patterns! Every time i wear my convertible hat people ask where i bought it lol then i tell them i made it from your awesome pattern.

  • @WeezieBinky awww Thank You :) I haven't had anyone ask me where I got my hat so it is nice to see people are asking lol

  • Hi April! I have been following your blog for quite some time now and I love your designs! I made the rainbow hat with the star attached on the end and my daughter loves wearing it. Very happy to see you're making videos! Keep them up :)

  • @luigijules Thank You! :) I'm glad your daughter loves it. I will try to make some more videos when I get more time. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

  • I've been following your blog, enjoying all your patterns when you had every single of them posted for free. I'm so sorry that someone out there ruined it for us all when things were made for profit by them, using your patterns and not even crediting you. You are extremely talented and creative! Thx so much for posting this video and free pattern. Hope you'll be doing more videos...... hint, hint :)

  • @luvmyjjj Thank You :) I never had my stuffed animals for free. Just the hats. I am still posting stuff for free just not as much as before. I really like sharing but when some people started not crediting me it really hurt. I plan on making more videos in the future, I just have to find the time lol I hope you enjoy the hat :)

  • I really liked that video! Cool music as well! :) You did an awesome job!!!

  • @18Megagirl Thanks :)

  • Great video! I have never had a problem reading your patterns since you write them so clearly, but it's always good to see videos just to make sure I'm doing everything right:) I like how you did the shot the video from your POV too.

  • @ManfaMae Thanks!

  • Thanks for this video! I was quite afraid to try crochet, but it doesn't seem as hard as I thought, finally... I will probably try it sooner or later!

You're a great mute teacher, April ^^ and the music is great!

  • @Nadjirlande Thanks lol Good Luck for when you decide to try it :) I hope it helps.

  • Hi April, Great video. I'm a "crocheter" too, mostly blankets and such. The video is great for those of us that are "visual" learners. I never did get very good at reading directions! LOL...Very professionally done, great music and loved how you changed between your frames. You should post more..GREAT JOB!!

  • @amyhoolihan Thanks Amy :)
