A piece of advice, especially for people like me who discovered VNV entirely through youtube: NEVER JUDGE A VNV NATION SONG BASED ON FIRST IMPRESSIONS! so many of my favorite songs sounded like crap when i first listened to them, now i can't imagine what i was thinking...

@de0509 Far from it! Ive seen them 5xs since 2007 and will never stop seeing their concerts. I had the opportunity to meet mark and ronin last year in NYC...they are the most nicest, down to earth people you would ever meet. They even took the time to take pictures with their fans and hang out after the show. I promise you will not be disappointed!

As a die hard VNV Nation fan, this song is by far my favourite. Great structure, good lead up to the chorus, good bass, and wicked lyrics. Kudos to VNV on creating such an amazing track.
VNV Nation are one of the most amazing bands I have ever heard. Ever since hearing "Beloved" and "Savior". I am a Christian and know that they do not promote religious views in their music but the positive words and themes really do uplift me everyday.
If Tiesto ever needs a new track to remix and bring to the forefront it should be Beloved. Awesome.
@VoleurdeThym I'm glad you agree with me. Tiesto, as a trance pioneer, has always looked for "different" material and bands to work with and the thought of VNV Nation getting some credit of that kind would be testament to their talents.

@Fetternity. Yes, tell me that Structure, Verum Aeternus, Saviour, Electronaut, Perpetual and Chrome are the same track with different lyrics :S.
I've outgrown VNV. If they got any more formulaic they'd be just like Combichrist: same base track, layer other stuff instead.
The only thing that makes them worth listening, but by no means fresh, is the lyrics sheet. Still, they need to break away from this melancolic "sing with your fist closed" trend and reinvent themselves again like they did for Empires.
Empires is a hard cd to compete with, this CD is the closest i think they will ever get. Your right they are creating similar songs you can even hear some of bass lines, synths sound like other stuff they have created.
Ronans lyrics are still really good. even with matter and form and judgement he still has amazing lyrics. Maybe not as good as Tom Shear but they are still better then most other artists. they have meaning.
I saw them last night in Dallas. I was slightly disappointed by the set list and was shocked when they opened with "Joy", which I don't think is their best song. We thought they were going to close with Beloved, but they didn't, they gave us one more with Perpetual, so that was a nice surprise. Apparently Dallas is their best crowd so far on the tour and something "special" is going to happen for us soon. We'll see! The best part of the night was dancing with Mark at the after party!
Did they run with war tapes the middle band? they did that here in Los Angeles, they got us pumped up with... (cant remember name) Then everyone sat there mumbling when wartapes played. real buzzkill

why do I like vnv so much?
The songs all sound the same and the sound I think is trashy and old.
The guys voice is so distinct though! Are they the best in the music that they make? I dont know many others like them but I think they are!!!
Empires and a few others I have are amongst some of my most listened to albums.
Always make me drift away to far away places and give me butterflies when I listen to the hypnotic tunes!

I've outgrown VNV. If they got any more formulaic they'd be just like Combichrist: same base track, layer other stuff instead.
The only thing that makes them worth listening, but by no means fresh, is the lyrics sheet. Still, they need to break away from this melancolic "sing with your fist closed" trend and reinvent themselves again like they did for Empires.

Empires is a hard cd to compete with, this CD is the closest i think they will ever get. Your right they are creating similar songs you can even hear some of bass lines, synths sound like other stuff they have created.

Ronans lyrics are still really good. even with matter and form and judgement he still has amazing lyrics. Maybe not as good as Tom Shear but they are still better then most other artists. they have meaning.

They didn't close with Perpetual the last time I saw them, which was only two years ago, so no they don't always close with it.

I saw them last night in Dallas. I was slightly disappointed by the set list and was shocked when they opened with "Joy", which I don't think is their best song. We thought they were going to close with Beloved, but they didn't, they gave us one more with Perpetual, so that was a nice surprise. Apparently Dallas is their best crowd so far on the tour and something "special" is going to happen for us soon. We'll see! The best part of the night was dancing with Mark at the after party!

saw them 7/18 @ nokia theater they were great..i was super happy to hear this song..it's even better live.
