@legomailman while they may have actually immobilized them in less time, the whole actual fight was alot shorter as DTK were sent out the arena, not immobile inside the arena.

As a post-script to this, Lightning beat Tornado once in a live tournament in 2004. That's on YouTube too.

Would like to meet Gravity again one day (without us having a flat tyre as in heat D final). No excuses though - I still reckon their weapon would prevail but it would be good to give them a proper run-around. I need their flipper on my bot!

All the robots in S1 were weak compared to today's robots. that was in the early history of the sport. The bots were less powerful, less was known about what designs worked best, and because it wasn't such a big thing back then, people weren't ready to spend as much money on their robots. Whereas today, the are thousands of bots for inspiration, and thousands of pages of tips. there are also companies who sell parts specially for combat robotics. its easier to build great bots these days.

I remember Gravity from the 2nd series in the Dutch Battles. He wasn't as good as he was in tth wars of the UK. He has become amazing, and by far the best Dutch robot in Robot Wars history. Hope to see more from the 7th series, I couldn't watch that one on TV.
