Some months ago I had my good friend Alan Keith turn a new Tenor Drone for my Bb Gaita (Si bemol) We used a blank of Ash Wood (Madera de Fresno) that was meant for a Baseball Bat, and it took a lot of turning to reduce it to the proper size!!
Alan also made the Drone Stock & mounted it with Brass Ferrules and a Horn Cap and Ring It sounds great and it adds a lot of Good Harmonics !
I sold this Gaita to a Kiwi (New Zealand) Piper living inYellowknife, Canada. This leaves me with an old unmarked Boxwood Gaita in "Do" with the same 2 Drone configuration, and a Classic 1970s Represas Gaita in B flat made from Ashwood with only the one Bass Drone.
I need a Tenor Drone for that Gaita SO..if you have a spare Tenor Drone you're not using, Please contact me ! Thanks ! Sean Folsom
I have owned this "C" (Do normal) Galician Gaita since 1979.
Recently I finally found out that it was made by the Represas Family. In the 1970s, they had an impressive distribution network, and a large number of Music Stores all over Spain were retailing their instruments. Thus, it was common for tourists to bring them back to the USA. I am selling this Gaita as I have too many Gaitas in my collection. Please contact me here if you're interested. Sean Folsom
Pressing against the body is actually not recommended since you can untune your tenor drone while doing that and so causing dissonance...
