@hmlmclThe song is called "Love my blues away." Rory has written this one herself. It is played in a drop D-tuning. She teaches this song on a DVD called "The power of delta blues guitar II" released on Homespun. The song is also on an album called "Blue horizon".

@hmlmcl I have an old radio recording on tape somewhere, where she announces this song and if I am not mistaking, it is called Love My Blues Away. Great song!
Wow! She's been good for a long long time. Thanks for posting this. Great country blues. You don't hear much of that these days, maybe because a lot of guitar players are intimidated by fingerstyle playing.
are you nuts? this woman has been studying and interpreting the blues since she was a young teenager, learning firsthand from Rev. Gary Davis and Son House (Robert Johnson's mentor!) Also learned directly from Mississippi John Hurt. She is a 4-time WC Handy winner. Country? Do your homework!
Are you kidding me? This woman studied directly under Rev. Gary Davis, Son House & Mississippi John Hurt as a young teenager and has been playing and interpreting the blues since the '60s. She's no "New Country" chick. Do your homework, "Blues" Willy! ha!
I met her once several years ago. She was playing an overcast day in Caldwell, ID at the old St Chapelle Winery. If there were anyone who you could tell LIVED the Blues, it was her! She was engaging and funny and very open to just talking music or whatever. All you need is soul and an instrument for it to pour out of! She proved it that day! Thank you Rory! Come back to Idaho soon!
@bakedsushi It was! Once I got over my initial "wow! I'm talking to a master Blues musician" moment, we talked a little about guitar, (tunings and slide and such) then I asked her if she'd sign a CD cover I had of hers. Which she did. I would have bought more from her but, not enough money on hand! Even for her "special" CD's, a box that only just survived a mishap with the washing machine on her tourbus! They were very discounted!
Thanks, Jan. Great video! And my response to ipodjunkie5 is that I've seen Rory three times live and would give anything to have her stop by and raise the roof at our house. We'd even welcome all those dogs that travel with her! Come on in, Rory!!!
Great singer/player performance!

its just weird listening to a woman talking about man instead of man talking about a woman
not to sound sexist
I guess it takes getting used to.
