It was such an honor and joy to speak, on the record, with Mr. Warrington and this clip serves as a lasting tribute to him. OUTDOOR MOOVIES plans to return to the US 23 and the currently abandoned MIRACLE TWIN in the fiorst of what we hope to be many direct = to = You Tube effort.
The third screen was constructed using used shipping containers stacked together. It's located on the northwest corner of the field. You can see the photos on the US 23 Drive-in's Facebook page.
The ad for the opening of the US 23 was a nice touch. The three teenagers who torched the old screen tower should be waterboarded, drawn and quartered, and then slowly decapitated. Very, very sad. I liked Mr. Warrington's comments about the screen from the DORT drive in. Very sad that he passed away, my sympathy to his family.
Best wishes to the Warrington family. Thank you michigan drive ins for all the up to date information on your very detailed and enjoyable site. Others would enjoy it too, I'm sure of it. I don't know how run down the marque was but it's nice to know it is getting a face lift. Nice video. The detailed info at your web site was appreciated.
It was very sad to see the screen burn down, especially because it was torched by idiot criminal arsonists! I'm hoping they spend a lot of time in prison. The old screen tower was a good example of the classic drive ins, not just a screen mounted on poles. The neon lights must've really been nice. The US 23 is too far away for me to visit. I didn't knoe Lou but I send my deepest sympathy to his family. Nice tribute!
Great news that Lou's grandson has decided not to sell the property and that the drive-in will live on. I wonder if National Amusements has any regrets now about closing the Miracle Twin. Nah, I doubt it. It was their only one left. Let's prove them wrong about drive-ins being dinosaurs.
Thank you for this awesome video! Went here many times as a child and brought my own kids here in the 80s before we moved out of town. Sad day when the original screen was torched. Good news though that the US 23 will be open in 2009. Will have to make a road trip out just to renew old memories! Bless you Lou Warrington
to i love laurie partridge, sorry you lost the Big M, like so many of us have lost our drive ins i was blessed with 5 so no matter where i go, im driving by where one once was. did you have any others in your area? ive been to MD a lot so i know some of the areas thanks. Now to drivin nut 61 i never met lou, but he sounds like he was quite a guy. i too hope the us23 dosent close forever weve lost to many as it is. Very nice tribute
Thanks for the comment zaphod1138. Man, five drive ins... you were lucky! We had two in my county, all others were in Baltimore area. Big M was the last to go. Small vid here on the Big M, made in 97. Bob and his mom ran it until health issues came up. The original owners bought it back to develop it. Still remains the same. Bob and his mom both have passed. My friend pinstripes Bon Jovi's hot rods. He brought Jon's 57 Nomad and the sound engineer's 32 to the last great bash there. Thanks!!
A very interesting interview. I'm 56 and grew up going to the drive in theaters in my area.(Md.) The Big M drive in here just closed few years ago. Man, 16 yrs old,, my 55 Chevy... couldn't wait to take my first real date to it!!! The Big M had car cruises too that attracted people all over the east coast. Sadly, I live 4 miles from it and pass it every day. Thanks for the post on this. Like the guy said in The Hollywood Knights...."everything changes, nothing stays the same." Very sad.
Glad to see it still open, sad Miracle twin closed down. Its been hard times in the flint, burton area.

The US23 has a new lease on life, it's been leased for five years. The new management plans lots of renovations and adding two more screens.
