We in the work force need to make things not just push paper or serve things. The trade deficit with just China is over $1 billon dollars a day. That is $365 billon dollars a year out of our economy and in to the most communist and socialist country in the world.
Wake up working people of America union busting is a tool the ultra rich power base uses to divide the woke force. Dont be a pawn in their game, how are you as an individual worker going to turn back the one sided trade policies of the past 10 years. Your not and that is their plane.
Union busting is a way for the rich to get richer and the working class to get screwed? Look were we are now no jobs and no money to buy cheap wall-mart crap.
And you cant blame unions because unions are down to 12% of the work force and the middle class is still losing union jobs by the millions and non union jobs by the ten's of millions.
Unions help the economy by negotiating better wages and benefits for their members. In turn these same workers spend that money buying homes, cars, clothes and much more. I don't understand your rationale that unions hurt the economy, by what they do is quite the opposite.
Unions hurt the economy, are people in unions just too stupid or blind to understand that? Look it up! Lawrence Summers himself said a cause of unemployment is unionization
Union busters will try to say that unions are some evil entity that are killing American jobs, it just not true, unions are working families and America is losing non union manufacturing by the tens of millions. Unions make up only 12% of the work force
You think your non union job is safe; you have no chance of competing against countries that have universal health care and workers that work for $35 dollars a week. Workers need to organize so we can turn back the one way trade policies of the pass 10 years.
The bill may keep secret ballots, but we know otherwise. In reality, it'll effectively kill the secret ballot. After all, with this new power for card check, what pro-union employees are gonna wanna go back to the old secret ballot system? I mean, really! Come on! This is a sneaky way to kill secret ballots.
Laws passed and the actual result are rarely the same.
Put this up there with the corn syrup adds as one of the most manipulative campaigns out there. EFCA doesn't give the EMPLOYEES any rights. The whole thing is only allowed to be manipulate by the unions instead! And we all know how honest labor unions are. Its a whole business that thrives on creating antagonistic relationships. No wonder jobs are fleeing overseas!
The choice will not be "the workers'," it will just be the union organizers'. Union organizers who receive funding from the dues of their members. Good grief.
What they don't want you to know is that Canada lets 51% say they want a union and they get it. "Go to Venezuela" sounds more scary than "Why don't US workers have the same rights as those in Canada" and those in Europe and Japan and the rest of the industrialized world if you add paid family leave, public universal health insurance (medicare for all) etc...US workers get screwed. In return? Their economies out-compete us in efficient cars, solar, wind, etc
This organization, with the new Secretary of Labor sitting on the Board of Directors lied!
Here's whats stated in EFCA:
If the Board finds that a majority of the employees in a unit appropriate for bargaining has signed valid authorizations ... the Board shall not direct an election but shall certify the individual or labor organization as the representative described in subsection (a)
Automatic certification. Envision the ride if they are willing to lie before the law is passed.
Good commercial. The lie perpetrated by the Wal-Marts, anti-worker senators and the like must be exposed. The bill does NOT take away the secret ballot election. It puts the choice in the workers hands, not in the corporations, as it should have been in the first place.
Here's an idea. Why don't the schmucks who are so pro union for their own car companies, walmarts, etc. Then they can determine what their pay should be. All these years, and not 1 union could do that. Wonder why?
We see what unions with govt. support and coercion have done to the car companies. Just give us jobs, we don't care if they're necessary or not. Leftists cried that GM was producing cars nobody wanted. They're the same ones bitching when GM wanted to close a production line. gee
The misconception among the general American populace--especially the more right-wing citizens--is that socialism is essentially communism. It is true that elements of socialism are present within communism, but both are distinct moral and political philosophies.
Socialism is simply a philosophy which ensures greater opportunity for all. I am not an advocate of socialism in the least--but to mark it as evil is dead wrong.
America is already largely socialized: firemen, libraries, and so on.
I do agree we are already largely socialist, but in much more areas than that. However, I don't agree that firemen would fall in that area. I don't think socialism is moral and it does not ensure greater opportunity. It doesn't work, we see that now in our economy. In both communism and socialism, govt HAS to control private citizens and their money either by taking it or making laws limiting your rights. Socialism invents "rights" based on needs and violates real rights as citizens! peace
Goddamn dirty pinko faggot! What, and let the terrorists win?
Jay Kay, but really now, I agree. We should stop demonizing all that seems socialist at first glance and take a moment to reevaluate that which we value in our society. Such entities are often socialist, or derived from it.
If you like socialism so much move the Venezuela. I hear the weather is beautiful this time of year. Keep your socialism to yourself and leave. There is no need for socialism in The United States.
Haha, oh indeed. I assume you're as much for the privatization of police and firefighting services as I am, as our current system is blatantly socialist.
Now days it's based on the amount of trainies brought in. The state help to fund the training. The more apprentices, the more money. if a apprentice drops out, the program keeps the money. As when I join the program. The class started with 168. by the end of the 4 years there were only 17 to turn out. They also know the kids of today refuse to give the sacrifices it takes to be a apprentice.
Why are you only concerned with whether TRADES are unionized? Most workers aren't in a particular trade. A lot of office workers aren't unionized(I assume you accept that office workers count as workers). A lot of people in big box stores(like the place that sounds like "HellMart")fast food employees, Starbucks. Working people who aren't "tradesmen" are just as deserving of union representation as joiners, plumbers, etc.
There's no reason to say some workers matter and others don't
What the Internationals are saying is, "the hell with union quality. They just want more workers in the rank for more dues money.
Anyone can join a union. Just go to your nearest union hall of your trade and join. But go through the apprenticeship program. No matter how long you have worked at your trade. You'll be surprised at how much you really don't know about your trade.
The Internationals are all for the card buyers, just for the amount of memebers.
Bullshit. You can't join a union if your workplace doesn't have union representation. And it's meaningless to say you've got the right to organize when management gets to drag out the organizing process and then gets to refuse to recognize or negotiate with the union when its obvious that the union's won the representation election.
And unions need to increase their size if they're to be of any use. We need to represent all the workers. No one in the Republican Party cares about workers.
First, name me the the trade, not the work place that doesn't have a union.
There are very few trades that don't have a union. Nothing wrong with making the union bigger. There is something wrong with forcing companies to go union, then when the company cloces it doors because of being forced. Now you have many people on welfare.
My problem is with a company going union and all the workers jump to journeyman scale without any training. Then have us train these people. But be payed the same
I am a Union worker and I am totally against the SEIU. And have been every since they stated it.Yes it's a form of socialism. Everyone with one pay, no matter what job it is.
NO CARD BUYERS!!!
Go through the apprenticeship programs or stay out of the unions.
Anyone can join a union. Just quit your job and go join one. I don't believe in forcing companies to go union.
I did check it. One label(which just means you cut and pasted the label in)and the entire rest of the page filled with right wing propaganda. You bash the stimulus plan, you falsely claim Democrats(and the majority of the American people who voted for our new president0think the man is the Messiah. Step one: Pass the EFCA
Step two: Pack up to move to India or China. That's where all the jobs will be.
