  • The computer screen just cracked.

  • this is insane.....I taped this off the TV in 1976 onto a Memorex cassette by hanging the mic in front of the speaker...still have the tape...listened to it constantly for at least 20 yrs..in 78 they came to the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver for high school bands....after the performance they took question from us kids......EPIC....

  • 2:22 His facial expression is crazy.

  • 2:22 His facial expression is crazy.

  • Wow, I love it. I'm a big Chase fan so this is right down my alley.

  • awesome performance. where can i get the video for this concert?

  • Greatest ending ever.

  • tha fusion days.cool

  • Is that John Faddis up there?

  • No, he only recorded with maynard on 2 or three albums

  • @MasterBlasterMusic Unfortunately Jon Faddis isn't at this gig. His high-F screams under MF's high-G's were a cool part of the album recording. But, I like the added interlude in this live recording, though. Brian740, you have some amazing stuff! Keep on posting!

  • Giuseppe Mozello, trumpet and congas. Wow!!!!

  • Epic conga solo <3

  • briiliant post--thanks

  • I cannot believe that's really me at 1:03, bobbing my head... over thirty years ago.

  • sweet dude.. i wasnt even born then... haha but i would have loved to have been there! JEALOUS!

  • @Macaholic are u bobby millitello?

  • @7139462314 lol no man, I'm -- or I was -- the teen in the audience with the silly blue festival cap on, bobbing my head. I freaked out when I stumbled upon this video and saw me there. Like, how often does that happen in YouTube? A random audience shot from thirty-four freakin years ago... and there you are!

  • @Macaholic - You're at 1:04... That's 2 seconds of your 15 minutes of fame! LOL - Seriously, I would have LOVED to see Maynard live... AWESOME sound! And, for the record, you bobbed your head in good timing... lol ;)

  • @7139462314 lol no

  • this performance was when maynard was in his prime

    his murdered the 70's

i only wish i was around back then to see him

  • Maynard was a God to some of us high school jazz band geeks. He was an old big band guy that went electric in the 70's and 80's and completely won us over. His young bands were always great and he knocked it out of the park with his trumpet!

  • This is wicked

  • That is one bad-assed trumpet section and where did he find one guy who could blow a horn with that group and play the congas so well?!!--amazing!!

  • I'll bet Maynard never knew. They were probably rehearsing one day and the dude said "Hey, I play a little bongo..." and the rest was history. Many of these musicians are multi-talented. Just look at Arturo Sandoval, trumpeter, piano player, singer, percussion, etc...

  • great vid, sucks that google screwed up youtube and you had to split it up.

  • Master Trumpeteer !

  • btw i must say this is like the only video i actually see maynard turn red while playing lol. man is pretty damn amazing, he was in great shape for this co0ncert!

  • i agree btj =]

  • that guy. and that band. simply unbelievable.

if god played the trumpet, i doubt he would be much better than maynard

  • completely agree

  • that song always seems too short.

i met maynard a little more than 30 years ago. and he said to me: 'three'

that was how many albums i thought i could get him to sign at once. the only signitures i ever got for myself from a musician. if you want to call him that. in his case, i think god would do as well. evolution is a beautiful thing.

  • Got you beat....I got him to buzz in my mouthpiece........and to a kid I was in "nirvana"...In fact, I've seen him since the early 70's and was always starstruck!. My father is a bone player/leader and got me into the groove of the boss when I was very young.....

  • Phaor, MF on the big roll

  • Peter Erskin and Rhythm section, getting it on

  • OMG!! I just stumbled across this video. I was at this concert! And there I am, sixteen years old, in the goofy Stage Band Festival hat, at 01:03. LMAO!!!!

  • Hey little bro, imagine meeting you here... I remember this too. :)

  • Hey sis! :) Were you at this concert??

  • man you are old!

  • But NOT DEAD ;)

  • Hey little brother would you like me to beat him up for you? ;) and yes I was at that concert too!

  • lol! No. After all, I be grown-up about this :D

btw, if I'm "old" and you keep calling me "little" brother, how old does that make YOU? :-P

  • soon

  • Incredible... part 1 was astounding too

  • gr8 video, I didnt know Joe Mosello was such an accomplished conga player

  • GD I LOVE this!

    OPOMM/C YES.

  • Awesome. I can't believe that audience didn't give MF & co a 'standing O' on every chart. Hard to believe this was 30 years ago...

  • This was great ! His 70's band was always the best. Gotta love Stan's hair.
