photoshop or corel is better for painting. more ways to develop ur painting. more advanced brush engine. corel is better for traditional painters and for painting but i like ps because it's not so heavy on ur hardware (i have a shitty laptop)

it doesnt really matter what size. skills is all u need. u can develop ur skills using just a crappy graphite pencil on a toilet paper.
once u got the skill u can transfer it anywhere u want. even to a little crappy bamboo wacom tablet
it's all about practice
