There is less information in the waveform so a sinewave will not be a perfect curve - closer to a triangle wave - and have a harsher sound as a result. This will apply to whatever sounds you sample into it.

@NumbFuzz i'm pretty sure the samples are nosdam and the actual drum programming is jel. it's a mixtape in the hip-hop sense as opposed to the indieboy sense, and the only defining facet of hip-hop mixtapes is that they're free releases. the rest of the freehoudini is entirely produced by jel so i don't see why jel wouldn't be involved in this track.
