Second, not that hard. Really. I'm not down playing this guys ability because I'm 100% certain he is a better shot that I am. I would just like to incourage people to shoot out this far with pistols.
I'm NOT a great shot and I could drop a 5.5" diameter plate @100yrds with my compact .40 pistol within 3 shots. Very rewarding and much funner that seeing how small of a group you can hit at 15yrds on paper IMHO.
Excellent shooting no doubt, bottom line in combat the receiving should not under estimate the capability of 45 acp 1911 and the operator. I own most all Kimber 1911 models and they all function 1/2"-3/4" groups at defense distance 15 yards and closer. I might post proof in the near future hand load of course and some bench rest most free hand
45acp is doable at 100 yards compensate for drop practice and more practice. Showing actual ranging would credits this video better. It was good shooting
@ThaiTanCorner You are right. However, keep in mind that this video wasn't really staged. We were screwing around and my buddy bet me I couldn't do it. The deal was I HAD to post the video either way. I didn't expect to make it therefor we didn't go through a lot of trouble marking etc. for what it is worth this was done on the rifle range at Raahauge's and the shelter is definitely 100 yards from the berm
@rvaldesr1 Well, I suppose you could call Raahague's Shooting Enterprises in Corona CA (951) 735-7981 and ask them how far the shelter is from the berm on their rifle range OR you could learn what 100 yards looks like OR you could decide what distance it "really" is and post a video of YOU doing it. Makes me no never mind. Before you call me names remember YOU questioned MY integrity.
had a guy at the gun shop today try to tell me he was shooting clays at 75 yards and not missing from standing position with his 1911. considering most rounds drop 3x the height of the clay and it is a pretty narrow target I called BS
@ShieldTactical without a doubt possible. if a bullet can reach the distance of a target you can hit it, so long as your angle is correct. helps to add the guy tried to slip my girl his number when i was around the corner looking at some stuff for my bow.
@johnnyboy922 Holy crap. I know I shouldn't laugh but that is funny. Unfortunately gun stores can attract a certain type of "employee". I did my time behind the counter and never ceased to be amazed at the nonsense I heard from some of those guys. Having said that, there are some good cates in that business as well.
@ShieldTactical haha very true. I have had another guy who had single and double action confused, have to really know my stuff about a gun I want before i go in there to avoid all the misinformation.
@mattheautomator i am NOT a fan of the 9mm in any way except for its steel shooting it has NO recoil so it is much easier to control but for anythign else .45ACP
@mattheautomator SWC (semi wad-cutter) is ideal but I just use plain old FMJ or ball ammo. I have shot as close as 5 yards with no issues (minus a little splatter). I am not however, suggesting that anyone else shoot steel any closer than 15 yards. Thanks for the question.

Does the single action of a 1911 make it more effective at longer ranges than other handguns?
