  • no country has ever bcome devloped with such pathetic infrastructure .the population of human beings is enough to put excess pressure & break down mumbai like a melting pot.

firstly take these ppl out of their slums, make proper job arrangements for them & send them to where they belong....then & only then speak of making mumbai into shanghai.

  • the rise of slums in is not a superficial problem that by demolishing slums problems will go away.the problem is population.why do so many ppl come to mumbai to break down the already choked slum infrastructure of mumbai, not bcos they like it..they dont have any option in their native place.indian villages r full poverty where they come frm.so they leave their place in hope of better future in mumbai.the real deal is improve villages& create employment causing reverse migration back to vllages

  • u call dharavi a town...even if there is business going on it does not make them business class.

i go to dharavi every now & then.not an iota of change has happened in so many yrs.only that few slumdwellers were rendered homeless when slums near bandra station were burned down by political hooligans,i was accidently present to witness that too.

  • that women is essay reading.we indians r good at that

  • LIKE ;P

  • please remove the video---we are trying to become superpower.

  • How did Shanghai get rid of its slums? Why don't we replicate China's model?

  • @sadhaklal we can't my friend we are a democracy and we have recpect for something that China lacks and that is human rights!

  • You should better think deeper about the question and consider aspects such as HUMAN RIGHTS, Bridging the gap between poor and rich in emerging economies, the risk of letting the speculators rule, gained rigths in NEW urban planning affecting consolidated urban settlements that where allready there when there was still no planning, government duty to protect de people etc....

For the record, i´m not triying to "sell" you anything.

  • You don´t "buy", "stolen land" and "should be demolished". Wrong terms used to simplify a really complex social process, that involes half a million people with rigths, even if you want to think about them as "untouchable" criminals to justify their official exclusion.

  • this is extremely innformative.. good work.

  • sorry - i dont buy it!! dharavi is built on stolen land!! If these denizens are justified in squatting there..then whats to stop respected citizens to hoard other people's properties? Poor or rich is irrelevant!! stealing is stealing and dharavi should be demolished

  • @TheSebulba1978 then were will they live, do you really want a million poor hungry Indians in the more rich parts of the city, i have nothing against the people of Dharavi im just saying

  • @TheSebulba1978 thats a ridiculous view point to hold. You cannot simply demolish it, the implications as this video demonstrates are huge. Thousands of people cannot be moved out that easily, where will they go? Stealing in this sense is also slightly different.
