Because healthcare is a limited service or resource, it must be rationed out in some fashion. Typically price is the most optimal and fairest method for rationing. That's basic macroeconomics. Rationing out healthcare via corruptible/inefficient state run bureaucracies is just asking for even worse problems in out healthcare system than we already have.

@moloko5 I did not suggest that we currently have a good or even adequate system as is. I just do not agree that establishing a common or state owned/operated system is the way to go. Our current system does not ration healthcare using an efficient price system. Insurance paying for the most simple procedures/check ups results in moral hazard. Individuals should be paying for basic healthcare needs out of pocket with insurance only being used as a disaster safety net.

I know the story of a mother that brought her very sick daughter at an hospital, but they refused her assurance. In the time that the mother drove to another hospital, the child died. So.
