Twilight isn't even REMOTELY similar to this. The characters personalities aren't paper thin (like Bella and Edward both are) and the story line is a lot better, and doesn't revolve around everyone falling in love with Bella and her complaining how her life is so hard. :)

It actually won an award. They just did not promote it properly after the writers strike, which lead to a drop in ratings which scared the crap out of them. But there are rumors circulating now that there could still be hope for this show. NBC might have seen all of the buzz around the two other vampire shows starting up soon and gotten a bit jealous of the VERY large and loyal fan base that those shows will bring in.

A new season of the show True Blood is starting soon, a television version of the books Vampire Diaries is also starting this year and there is talk about bringing the Anita Blake books to tv.

NBC did not really promote it after it was brought back after the Writers Strike, so not many new viewers started to watch it and not all of the older viewers knew when it was on. Because of this the ratings fell a bit. Not wanting to risk another Jericho they decided to cut their losses. Sadly, they did not realize that the show was, and still is, growing in popularity. Especially with two vampire dramas start this year, it could have (and still could) bring in a large number of viewers.
