Yes it did. But historically it has nothing to do with Vietnam. Along those lines, you would say; ''They did have *M16A4* rifles back in the days Nam. They were called *M16's* which is essentially the same weapon as the *M16A4*.''
I just think it's a little sad that ther aren't ANY pictures of M16s out there, especially of M16A2s, the most common version, and still being used in the US military.
