A very professionally put together video Tom, a great story line punctuated with still images and empathetic music and sounds..the black and white certainly gives an authentic feel, especially to someone in my age group..Well done....Bob.
I very much like the use of b+w and the general feel. Nice mix of angles, lighting, and the music is very slightly funereal but that depends on the tenor of the full story?
Beautiful stuff regardless. Very nice understated background sound.
It wasn't so long ago when you were working on your layout and byronleeS was being a...... well I don't need to say it, do I? ;) I'm very impressed at how much the layout has changed over the months :)
Leo knows what he's talking about more than me so learn from him. Most shots are better consise but as said, your trying to do it differently. the spelling on that post of mine is cack, ah well.
the 8 secons, basically there is a shot with nothing to see, but in my personal oppinion I think it works, as your series is purposely shot different to most series's. Your trying to capture the filming teqchniques that are used in real railway footage, and you often do get a long anxious shot just 'waiting' excitedly to see the train as it approaches. Everyone who's seen ep 1 will realise this is uniqu and in your series Tom, it works a treat!. But, I'd listen to Leo's advice when given!
I suppose it is a case of what your trying to do Tom, I didn't realise you were using the trailers as a sort of experiment and pracitice etc. With my ep 8 I already have it planned the way it's going to be, so I didn't know it was a different story for yours, sorry.
As this a new series filming etc, I use the trailers as a way of perfecting shots, such as the shot used in this of the yard, hadn't tried one like that before.
Bit concerned with what leo said though, about the beginning being blank.
Hey sparkshot..I'm the expert at pumping out trailers full of good stuff..
Secret is my trailers use specially crafted shots which don't appear in the main episode, the dream sequence became a total throw away, just too long and way too many words..
Just on trailers, they tell me which parts to focus on in the video, considering the clone diesels are not pulling the interest like the other trailers this tells me to keep this side of the story short, basically seen one diesel seen them all.
Wow, this is excellent! I like this music so much better than the other music.

the music is staying, the odd images might change from time ti time :-)

what is this music called?
trainlover657 2 years ago
@trainlover657
it's an arrangement from Holt's Jupiter from the Planet's suite.
Episode 3 will have the origial version not an arrangement
DoctorTankEngine 2 years ago
Indeed. Gustav Holst is a genius.

Oh I see what you mean.
Tee reason for the gap is as you know, part of waiting for a steam engine to pass is the build up. The I can hear it and but I can't see it.
I think you get that :-)

Does it play ok for you?
DoctorTankEngine 2 years ago
Yeah Leo, you indeed are the expert!
sparkshot 2 years ago
Why is there 8 seconds of zip at the start..?
The first 5 seconds of any video on youtube are the most important, having this blank is pointless.
leokimvideo 2 years ago
hi leo.
There isn't 8 seconds of blank.
The video starts with you on the main line with a Peppercorn A1 rushing by.
I'm not sure what you mean, The video starts straight away.
I'm confused!
DoctorTankEngine 2 years ago
I thought was grabbing the viewers attention with that opening shot of the Peppercorn A1
DoctorTankEngine 2 years ago
It works well yeah. I'm going to say something a little hard though - get ep 2 done! You have over 10 mini vids, most of which are trailers.
sparkshot 2 years ago
I know....but you got to remember it's all new to me. So the trailers have been testing ground.
This video was a way of seeing if the new titles work,
Episode 2 will be done for Bank Holiday Monday! :)
