He did leave his feet. It's obvious just by the aftermath. Anyone that plays hockey would know. If you're skating at a guy and you DON'T leave your feet, the worst that might happen is you fall over top of him because you hit him so hard and you had so much momentum. In this case Sutter left his feet just before contact, which is why his own body went parallel like it did, His feet werent grounded before contact so he couldn't brace himself.

and cherepanov tripped him right before that. To be fair, it might be a bit of a charge, and he might have left his feet a little. I don't neccessarily disagree with the penalty call cause by the letter of the law that probably was a penalty. But then again, by the letter of the law, half of the hits in the NHL playoffs are penalties. I personally think that they both could have been called, one for the trip, one for the charge.

Brandon Sutter is a great two-way player who can throw big hits, and score goals when needed. Alexi Cherepanov is a greedy player who tries to do everything himself, which is the reason Russia got fucking owned in this series, because they weren't playing as a team.
