Split log is, when you take 8 hours sleeping break , sleeping only and then u can drive the remaning driving time left for that day. 8 hours will only reset ur on duty time the 14 not the driving time that is 11. only and only 10 hours off duty/sleeping will reset ur 11 hrs driving.
In the USA, the hours of regulation for commercial vehicles are :
11 hours of driving within 14 hours on duty.
after 14 hours on duty you can NOT operate a commercial vehicle until you take 10 hours OFF DUTY or SLEEPING.
You must not work more than 70 hours in 8 days. You can reset ur 70 hrs by taking 34 hrs OFF DUTY/Sleeper time. 34 hrs off duty/sleeping with give you 70 hrs to work from that day ur 34 was completed. continue 2,

they really shouldnt be to harsh on drivers sleeping in their cars on the road side as long as they are tucked in a decent amount. I had to do it once in denver as i was suffering from sleep deprivation and was fighting to stay awake. I ended up blowing the back tyre whilst turning onto a high way as the rear wheel went over the traffic island. IT was serious sleep deprivation though. IT safer to let people rest than crash due to sleep deprivation

driving sucks the life out of ya.
i had a local route, took all day though a long highway stretch.
used to be pretty wiped on the way back. blinks getting longer n longer lol. nothing wrong with a 20min nap on a on ramp.. better then killing someone thats for sure.

C'mon ppl it can happen to everybody, driver was lucky it was at low speed. Traffic jam, tiredness, stressful day and it's easy to have a blackout.
