also how can you tell you needed to change your spark plugs?

The brown stuff you see is fine, but the black arching marks are not good. Also, you always change all plugs if one is bad.

How simple is it to take off the things above the spark plugs? Sorry don't know what they are called.

Coil pack. Its pretty easy, just 2 torx 25 screws and they pull off.

Cool video. BTW that burned part of the plug is perfectly normal, it's referred to as the corona and happens on just about all plugs over time.
