I think what is most striking about this performance is how much the musicians and singers all seem to be having a great time--It's hard for it not to be infectious:-)
After the change from cassette and vynal to CD, other the the Greatests hits collections, Savage was the only Eurythimics album I replaced. And that say something. Every song on it spoke to me, much like Diva did.
Savage was externally personal since Annie "dissociates" as psychologists put it. In other words, she fully relays persona which is real. Some call it "histrionic" but I would only agree if they mean that in the old-world psychoanalysis way.
yes she has. But she's performed so many times, can you imagine the burnout from that? I'd fall flat on my ass by her age here. But look at that energy! I think her peak artistically was with Diva, her first solo, and Savage by Eurythmics.
I agree that Diva was a high point artistically...and Savage is an Astounding achievement--hideously ignored in many ways--but I appreciate her more personal, more "mature" recent efforts. (and I agree that her energy is impressive here).
I noticed. If you look back at some early Eurythmics live it may explain it--she was hitting her peak about this time. I saw her with Sting a year or so before this and she was unbelievably great...although I think she's been more hit or miss the last couple of years.
What a trip it would be to be Annie Lennox for a day--preferably a day when she's performing as fantastically as she is here. Absolutely Fan-F-ing-Tastic!
Annie's voice was at its prime between 2004-2007.."she always has a great voice"..I love how powerful her lower belt is and how she can shoot up high too with the vocals...Wish the Eurythmics would do one more album.
This might sound pretty corny, but this song seriously got me through coming out of the closet my junior year of high school. It was such a struggle for me even though everyone knew already and this song truly kept me going. I wouldn't be the person I am today without this song. Thanks Annie and Dave....it means the world to me :)
Wow Wow Wow there are very few songs that a really adore first time I hear them sung live by the BEST EVER female artist. This is one of those few songs, the lst one sung live by U2 "beautiful day". Keep going Annie and indeed Dave who soetimes doesn't get the gratis he deserves
i was lucky enough to see annie at the peace concert lat year and words cannot describe how amazing this woman is. i had goose bumps. absolutely amazing!
I have already made this comment somewhere else, but again and again, someone please give her a lifetime achievement whatever award, for she's REALLY REALLY REAAAAAAAALLY awesome. This song is one THE most amazing songs ever written, short and powerful, and her voice adds sooooo much depth to it. What's not to love about her?
Lennox also reprised her "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" image by performing the song in a man's suit (her hair was not shaved and colored orange, however).
Oh- talk about getting shivers and those curious little "goosebumps"!!! TRULY awesome, that voice.. what power, passion and compassion. Thank you so much for posting this incredible video!! Sorta like a "hug from the ~Uni*verse~".

I saw her live in 2004 (as i remember)--she was fabulous...surprisingly so...
I've seen performances that at times were weak...I do believe she is getting better with age.

In an interview, Annie said that was the last thing they thought they could say to the world. It is their last song and single.
