I have a pair too, a yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp. They're awesome! Been together for a year and they take care of each other!! The goby feeds and protects the shrimp while the shrimp makes a hole for the goby and also snaps at other fish to protect it!

i was just wondering, i have a new yellow watchmen goby and they said u should have pistol shrimp in before so the goby can swim into its hole or what not, but do you think if i add a pistol shrimp later on they could still pair up? thanks

@jtfunkymojo Thats the best spot! Ive heard stories of people who have the goby/shrimp pair and they dig a hole in the very back of the aquarium and are never seen! that would really suck.

Tiger Pistol Shrimp are not always reef safe.

Red banded Pistol Shrimps on the other hand, are very reef safe!

they have a simbiotic relationship. pistol shrimp arent actually carnivores and kill little animals with there" sonic boom" this is just a lie. they use there click as a form of protection when something gets to close

no theres over 1000 sp of pistol shrimps alot of them are carnivores and dont pair up with shrimps. just the 40 odd species that are colourful and reefsafe make it into the marine hobby. the ones on liverock can be carnivorous and can easily smash a aquarium with a punch.

Thats cool my yellow ate 2 peppermint shrimp and 3 hermit crabs. Swallowed the peppermint shrimp whole and sat there for 2 days with a mouth full. That was a 25 dollor snack!!!
