  • how long does it take to do this? would this be any different on a newer style chevy silverado 2500hd? my cv axel pulled apart is there a way that can be fixed or do i need to go ahead and get a whole new cv joint?

  • @ggfish38 Your newer truck should be similar. Usually it's easier and not to much more money to just replace the whole axle.

  • @1aauto thanks man!!! we replaced the front right axle this weekend!!! thanks so much for this how too!!!!! couldnt of done it with out you!! thanks!!!

  • @ggfish38 No problem at all. Thanks for stopping by and checking us out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com

  • what are the socket sized used for this if anyone knows that would be great

  • @macgregwire23 You would need a 15MM,22MM and 35MM socket. Right at the beginning of the video there's a list of tools that you would need. Hope this helps you out.

  • i know it says 00-07 but would it be close to a 90 GMC sierra 1500

  • @Killer4112 Some of the basic procedures may be similar to the video. We carry the Haynes manuals on our website 1aauto.com that should show you how to do this also. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day.

  • @1aauto yes thank you so much and the video is great

  • Great Demo. Help me get my job done. The only difference on my 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500, there wasn't really a traditional nut on the top of the stabilizer link, it was more like a flat washer with a threaded sleeve. Just used vice-grips to hold it on the edges while I unscrewed the bolt. Thanks for the video, keep 'em coming.

  • how do you know when there bad

  • @TheTexasdeerhunter Usually they'll make either a thumping or a humming noise.

  • The step by step is the most thourogh i've seen! Thanks for making these videos.

Would this video be comparable to changing out the CV joints on a 2000 Jimmy 4x4?

  • Respond to this video... Currently we do not have a repair video that shows you how to remove the axle shafts on a 2000 Jimmy. Usually on a job such as that, you would need to remove the wheels, brakes and calipers, take the cotter pin out of the retaining nut that holds the Axel into position. Once the nut is removed, you should be able to tap the axel at the end once with a hammer to break it free. The you should be able to remove it from the transmission.

  • is it about the same for a 98 sierra 1500?

  • @joey72988 The process may not be exactly the same, but should be similar.

  • AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!You are running a great business.

  • !For 1997 K1500 Sierra, I preformed on my, pickup 2X. DON'T take out the stabilizer link (sway bar), instead take out the shock absorber, and disconnect the tie-rod from the steering knuckle (I think that's what it's called?) you may have to use a tie-rod separator to get them apart...

  • This will give you the 1/4" that is needed to take the axle out, and in with the new one (need to go forward w/ axle). A jack and stand-(support frame) will be needed as you will have to move the suspended side up and down to get axle out and in. This video shows him easily taking the axle out, but notice his axle has 5 1/4 moons between the bolts, K1500's are all round. Impacts are a MUST!

  • Thank you for this! Your doing all of us a GREAT!, public service.

  • thank you so much for this video !!!!!!! really thank you!!!!!!

  • Do you have a video like this for an '07 Envoy? Or is this close enough?

  • cool
