  • They talk about piracy, and even about pre owned games WTF is that? The DLC bullshit, and other crap. Making games easier, and shorter with constant price increase is a NO GO. Money kills everything, and sooner or later, UbiShit will feel it.

  • Completely agree with you. Games in 90ties were great. I own many of them, I bought them, and can still play withou any problems. What now, as you said.. we just pay for a rent, after some time they will turn their servers off killing a game, then were screwed. Some companies are already doing it, like EA. I hate steam, or origin. Why do I need to be connected to the internet, why do I need to register a game? I buy much less games, than I used to. I might someday just stop it.

  • I once posted on a Steam forum under the Ubisoft Thread titled "Really, Ubisoft?" And the only "meat" of the topic was, "I just really want to know why you continue to punish legitimate customers?" A user replied, "Because they can't punish pirates." Sad but true; it's not fair.

  • Owning physical media means nothing You show a glaring lack of understanding of game sales and what you own and do not own

  • @AngusKart - Says you. I'd rather own the physical media thanks. I'm not paying for nothing.

  • @youtubasoarus

Agreed. I like having the ability to PLAY any time I want. Theft or fire? Tough shit, that's my problem. The chances of me losing a game to theft or fire is far less than my internet connection going down, a company's server having issue, or even a company going under.

  • An amazing video history of Ubisoft over the years... watch?v=KjfGyYMVsMc ... This is how ubisoft treats customers Just watch that

  • You're exactly right, all this does is drive me to avoid the games that utilize DRM. I didn't buy Starcraft 2 for this very reason. It's just not worth the bullshit anymore. Hell, some of these games fail to justify their $60 price tag to begin with in my opinion. Combine this with the added hastle of DRM.... I'm already getting into old ps1 games I never got to play.

  • @LeftoverJedi - Glad to hear. Thanks for the comment. It's just sad that so many people are begining to agree with the DRM measures and such even though it is against their interests. I hear a lot of people using the industries very own talking points in threads and the like when we express our disgust with such measures. The whole thing is just sad.

  • @youtubasoarus Yeah it is man, and to tell you the truth, I just flat out don't care what the reasons for doing it are. It's a deal breaker, period. When I pay for something, I want to use it whenever the hell I want, for as long as I want. These companies want to pull this shit, fine, that's their choice but, I don't want to have to put up with it, so I go elsewhere. I just hope that they realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot with this, before it's too late.

  • @youtubasoarus

"It's just sad that so many people are begining to agree with the DRM measures and such even though it is against their interests."

The reasons that come to mind are this:

*Lack of education on why DRM is not in a customer's best interest, or why it's even DANGEROUS to a PC.

*Having been born when DRM is the norm. "Old" gamers like me remember buying a game and not having to jump through hoops just to play it.

*Being brainwashed by companies/proponents of DRM.

  • @LeftoverJedi Indie game are not too bad stuff like Sauerbraten, Limbo, Apple Jack, Trials 2 they have revolutionized the way we play games now and I think the indie industry will beat the AAA industry eventually.

  • @DarkKobra0202 The thing that drives me crazy is that it doesn't have to be this way, Fallout 3 had no DRM whatsoever on the PC version, you didn't even need the disc, or so I'm told, and It was madly successful. When I see major publishers pulling crap like this, all I think is what wasted potential. It seems such a rare thing to have good ideas meet with excellent resources.

  • @LeftoverJedi

Well.. to point at a fair stance, SC2 was playable OFFLINE ... so legit users still could play the game if the net died.

  • well ubisoft... i bought your other games, but now because i cant play this if your servers go down i will stop. putting drm on your games is gonna push more people towards pirating games, when they probably dont want to.

  • Easy solution got to Steam

  • @DarkKobra0202 I bought my version of Splinter Cell Conviction on Steam and the result is the same.

  • @Acrimonator Thats bull Steam should be different fuck it everyone download it illegally.

  • its not even piracy thats their main problem but rentals, loaners and not least used games by the industrys own admission..pirates woulnt spend money on their games in the first place

  • its like capitalism in video games

  • You guys do know that Ubisoft main focus Is consoles right? PC versions of games are just too get more profit. It was never a main thing for Ubisoft.

  • Fuck you ubisoft , ive buyed AC 1 & 2 Legal , now i was so exited to get brotherhood

and you fuckers ruin it by simply delaying till 2011...

i will never buy a legal game of you fucking twats anymore..

  • Ubisoft should stop with "DRM".The put so much money on a product that does not work.It got cracked the day it was released.

  • I didn't buy any drm game and will never take them even if they're cool (AC2/SplinterCellConv.), thumbs up if you hope Ubisoft society will go in red, because of drm!

  • How are small independent developers supposed to get a fair deal, if they're only supposed to release their games on physical media? Doing so gives you an immensely unfair deal with publishers. Digital distribution (for instance, Steam) is an extremely good thing for de-monopolising the game development industry.

  • @JodaSFU

It should remain OPTIONAL, and physical versions of games SHOULD NOT HAVE LOOPS you have to jump through just to play them.

  • @Ragitsu Digital distribution is optional for the most part. You choose yourself if you want to buy your game that way. Yes, there are publishers who choose to use digital distribution platforms for DRM, which forces the users to register, and I'm not defending that, but pretending that digital distribution is somehow worse than brick and mortar shops is just misguided, because in none of the instances do you actually own the content you're buying.

  • @JodaSFU

The difference: with the physical disk, I can install and play any time (barring multiplayer, but that's the case in either situation).

Aaaand, a company can't randomly decide to shut a server with content down if I want to "get my game back": they will have to literally send a SWAT team to get their disk back. Guess which is more likely to happen?

  • @Ragitsu It all depends on the game and the platform, but there are digitally distributed games you can just burn after you've downloaded them and install and play at your leisure. An example is The Witcher 2, which was sold digitally without DRM.

  • @JodaSFU

Look it at this way. The EULA crap is a formality to avoid most of the time obvious abuses of software: in actuality, 99,99% of the time, a company is not going to hunt down every copy of the game sold to get it back.

  • @Ragitsu If you're going for the reality vs law argument you have to do so for digital distribution too, and the fact is that you CAN extrapolate a game and crack it even if you've bought it digitally. It's illegal in both cases, but you can still do it. The only "innocent" players in this game are the companies who release without DRM, and like it or not, you'll find far more digitally distributed games without DRM than ones you get in brick and mortar shops.

  • screw these guys IM GETTING THE DAMN CRACK UBISOFT IS COMPLETELY IGNORING THEIR CUSTOMERS AND HAVE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO RESPOND TO THESE ANGRY POSTS And you know whats funny haha >>>I CANT EVEN RETURN THE DAMN GAME gamestop says I have to send it back to the company and they wont take it BULL SHIT ubisoft.......GO fuck yourself

  • @FLASHANIMATOR402 -- All very true. People should by now realize we are nothing more than glorified cattle to these companies. They milk us for what we've got and they keep milking until we're dry. Fight them with your wallet.

  • @FLASHANIMATOR402 My anwser to this is console gaming. no special security, and no viruses. for pc gamers; I dont think pc gaming is going to survive this BULL SHIT. I think we need 2 things.1 a collapse of the piracy industry 2. a collapse of attempted control over gaming and the internet by world governments.

  • @OmegaZeroPX

I only buy older games now.

  • DLM

    Dirty Latina Maids.

  • I hate DRMs mainly because the cable company in my area (Comcast) sucks ass and my connection is twitchy at times. I dont want to be playing an offline game and have it shut down if my internet drops for a minute. Thanks to the people who cracked it.

  • Well argued points and I couldn't agree more.

I bought all the Silent Hunter games including SH4 tin box delux edition straight from Ubi.com which cost a lot.

I will not be buying SH5 with this DRM even though I love the series and was really looking forward to it.

Time to make a stand against this madness.

  • The best anti-piracy measures are two:

    (1) release a playing Demo some weeks BEFORE the release of the game

    (2) price the games competitively.

    Cases in point:

the original SACRED sold millions. Over-DRMed SACRED 2 went down unnoticed.

PRINCE OF PERSIA become a big hit. DRM-ruined PRINCE OF PERSIA: FORGOTTEN SANDS bombed miserably. And the list goes on...

  • i hate ubisoft

  • On my video now it show what will happen in the near future with DRM!

  • I guess Ubisoft wants to spread the frustration to the gamers! They spend money on DRM that doesnt work, and we spend money on games that dont work (thanks to DRM...)

God Ubi, a monkey-squirrel with cerebal palsy could run your company better...

  • @Dankidus -- LOL I had to laugh at the last part of your comment. So true.

  • DEE ARE EM

  • thats the exactly fucking point.when i have payed for the game, its mine i can fucking do with it what ever i want.not everything i know but god damn its mine i can flare the disc whatever.i dont have a obligation to be online, so if you wanna do that the industry should get this product in the to rent regal !! you got the point UBI ?????

  • Ubisoft m'ont volé pour la dernière fois. Ce DRM est la preuve qu'il ne faut plus acheter de jeux de cette compagnie...mais il faut plutôt les pirater. Dont buy Splinter Cell Conviction, boycott this shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Splintercell sucks dont buy it!

  • So you do protect your games, but still give shitty support?

Chaos Theory's Co-op has NEVER worked, not to mention alot of my games just couldnt update properly.

    Fuck you Ubisoft.

If it werent for your Splinter Cell series, I would have boycotted you completely.

  • these days, i feel like im the only one i know who still appreciates physical media, feels good to know Im not the only one.

  • @HappyGestapo --You are definitely not alone man. Downloadable media is for fools as it has no tangible value what so ever.

  • @youtubasoarus my biggest gripe is that digital media takes up more hard drive space, i'd rather have a 7 GB HD movie on a blu-ray disc than on my hard drive.

  • @HappyGestapo -- True. It's great for the idea of playing right when you want to, and not having to fuck around with discs. But at the same time, yeah, there's better shit to fill up a hard drive with.

  • skidrow destroyed drm protection muahahahahaha

  • @Beno2212 -- Yeah I read about that the other day. I LOL'd.

  • @Beno2212 razor1911.....

  • I agree with you on physical media 100%

  • you wanna make money? then stop this DRM shit... if you dont, go fuck yourself then.

  • if you type ubishit in the addresbar in your browser, it will lead you to the ubisoft website. how dumb are these guys working at ubisoft saving this adress for their homepage

  • it is pretty ridiculous ,,, not everyone has their laptop at an access point of some kind and ubisofts servers are ridiculous ,,,

I can see the point in the DRM method they're using but it doesnt benefit us, it (for now) prevents people from distributing the game to other people which is wrong and illegal (youre buying the game under the contract that it is for your use and not for distribution) i get that BUT why restrict those of us who PAY for these games? come on get ya act together!

  • This is fucking rental do not buy from them

  • dont buy Ubisoft games until they remove this shit..

  • @lumifax agreed, first starforce now this bullshit, ubisoft just dont get the idea ...

  • To put it simply...

IF you wanted to play the game you have just paid for with your hard earned cash and the Ubisoft system is down...then that is WRONG. a TOTAL NO-NO.

Then the company is inadvertantly stopping you play.

But even if the servers are running, your game playing is still at their beck and call.

It's messed up. It's not right. I wouldn't be suprised if it's just a ploy to make you buy the game for a console instead (the game being both for PC and console)

    More money to them.

  • please dont drink while your doing a video next time... the sipping sound pisses me off as much as DRM does.. for some reason.. sorry...

  • @cmfreak -- LOL sorry bro. *SLURP* Hahahaha.

  • Also, a small error you made in your rant. When you purchase the game, you don't own it at all like you would if you purchase a car or a house You own a "license" to use the product much like when you purchase ANY software (yes, even if you buy the disc version).. You are therefore subject to the limitations imposed by the company that does own the intellectual property.

Also, digital game stores mostly let you re-download your games as many times as you want. There's no "1 time limitation".

  • @djnforce9 Totaly agree with your last part. Long live Steam and Valve.

  • @djnforce9

That's just a formality: no one is going to storm your house and take your CDs. On the other hand, shutting down a server can be done any time, and much more easily.

  • This makes perfect sense for a digital download version (such as the Steam version). However, it really shouldn't be the case for the actual "disc version". I guess the DRM won't work if they change it based on medium as the weakest link will be always be cracked.

The sad fact for consumers is that the DRM is working so far. No 100% working crack has been created for Assassin's Creed 2 at least. I guess Ubisoft's decision makers feel that more is lost to piracy than people against this DRM.

  • @djnforce9

DRM has been removed from Assassins's Creed 2. Who's talking NOW?

  • @youtubasoarus Ubisoft wasn't trying to fight it's costumers. It was to slow down the piracy but it turned out to flop big time, and DRM completely sucks. They need to either just fix and optimize it to where it only needs internet connection when you decide to save, or they definately need to just do better NON-DRM protection. like what sony's doing..

  • looks like they didn't crack it though...gg?

  • @hab1b1 the game is cracked ....

  • With Steam (valve), you can download and install the games you purchase on multiple computers.

  • @MutantBamHammer

See, Valve knows how to take care of their customers.

  • @MutantBamHammer True but you still have to login on the DRM. and you can use it on 2 computers at the same time. You have to have internet connection ALL the time. And i bought the game on steam. Cause its bought trought steam and in the steam folder i can't launch use any patched to fix the OTHER problem i have. I can't even launch the game cause the launcher updater crashes. Ubisoft go fuck your self.

  • I dont buy drm game!

  • Guess I won't be buying Conviction which is a DAMN SHAME

  • they gonna try to fuck the gamerz down.. first with consoles and now with this.

    merry christmASS

  • You made some interesting points there. Like how companies should focus on giving people incentives to buy the product. It's kinda what EA has done with Mass Effect 2 & Bad Company 2. Only those who purphases the initial products would be able to acquire free DLC. It's a great incentive, however it's also been met with some obvious backlash.

  • @Master10k2 whats the backlash?

  • @zonexll they are saying how terrible the decision is...let them talk.

  • @hab1b1

Stop being so intolerant, they can post their opinion, but so can I.

  • Hmm, Cool points, its a rental and you dont own it. I agree

  • how do you know that there is drm on the game i look on my box of assassins creed 2 nothing says abour DRM

  • @ZakX33 if you have the pc version it should say on the front in MASSIVE writing "Requires permanent internet connection to play" or something like that.

  • drm=do rape me

  • the new DRM piss peoples off because of the"must have internet to play"it will be fine if internet where free and everyone have internet.

  • Even then, it would piss me off. A few seconds of lag could kick me out of the game which is rage material.

Command and Conquer 4 is even worse. It not only kicks you to the menu when the internet lags or disconnects, it also wipes your save progress (quick saves, checkpoints, etc).

Which makes the game basically malware in my eyes.

  • Do Reinstalling Me

    DRM

  • Copyright in the USA doesn't work like that otherwise the copyright owners could never sue you, and as a copyright owner you never lose the ownership on your product.

Unless you hand over a letter stating that you are allowing someone else to something with your product.

And warranty means you have to goto a dealership otherwise the warranty is void even when using a non-dealership mechanic. Subaru has a warranty like this.

  • I wont buy their games ever again

  • @mnbgkjygvbu Fucking conviction is broke because of it.

    "GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH"

im sick of hearing that when i go online.

AND THEY UPDATED THERE LAUNCHER.. THEY FUCKING TAUNT US!

  • I remember when DRM used to be just a CD or CD key.

Sure some people pirated but I always bought the games I never ever pirated them.

Now with the new DRMs Pirating happens even more and is even promoted simply because an honest person that buys their games cant play their game...

Take Spore and SecuROM I would have Bought Spore... but I didn't want some shitty SecuROM drm that acts like a Virus on my comp so I torrented the SecuROM free Version.

  • Yeah, I did another video a long time ago about this sort of thing and I ended up finding a game in a bargain bin. Brought it home, installed it, then realized it had Starforce protection on it. Uninstalled it, removed the drivers and never played it again since. Waste of money. I refuse to have shit like that on my computer to play an, at best, sub par game. I got it 'casue it was cheap. Big mistake.

  • @GmanZombie Exactly why Eletronic Arts learned the lesson since that Spore DRM fuckfest and have, since 2009, switched back to simple CD-key checks. Ubi should learn from EA's experience.

  • When my internet goes down, I play single player games.

With this DRM I can't play single player games I own, wut?

  • Yeah. Ubi certainly knows how to scare off customers lol

  • You occidentals really are a bunch of assholes.

You complain about Ubisoft for selling games with problems to play but you go and buy an xbox360 which works like shit like all microsoft products but you never complain about that. In fact, you have the nerve to insult Sony and Nintendo when they never sell shitty products like microsoft or Ubisoft but still you claim the crapbox360 is the best of the best.

To all occidentals: fuck you! You get what you deserve.

  • This isn't a Console War Dumbfuck.

  • I will NEVER buy a game that has this DRM system implemented. Screeeew them. Who the hell do they think they are man? Plain & simple, DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!!!

  • Well I guess steam's okay as long as I don't get h4x3d..

  • People don't get their accounts "hacked" in Steam what happens is someone tells them shit like oh Your account will be shutdown unless u give me ur pw (and they give them their pw) or free steam games just login (and they lose their pw..)

  • BTW thaty silent hunter 5 game has the latest DRM from UBI its ben hacked the first day it came its sorta playable.. but not really so u cant really call it cracked... its a half assed crack but they will prolly crack it fully in a few weeks.. so...

  • I 100% agree with your Views " I like to hold the physical media and havign a shelf full of those things is rewarding" The new stuff like steam ect that u dotn even fucking own the damn game piss me off and they makeu pay for it? i think its stupid i like to have the box the actual game that i will be able to install in 5 years from now even if hell broke loose i like knowing i own the product its mine.

  • Precisely. A lot of people simply do not realize that by buying digital media you may not be able to use it in a few years. I am currently using stuff that is at LEAST 20 years old (NES games etc). Can people who buy these digital games say the same in 20 years? I doubt it.

  • I posted a video response so I hope it gets approved

  • Fuck DRM FUCK THE WHOLE SYSTEM

Post this comment everywhere so the hackers do stand more change to hack the DRM servers.

  • I fail to see how this video is going to change anything at Ubisoft. It's about as much a waste of bandwidth, as 100000 computers on a SINGLE-PLAYER-ONLINE game.

  • And third addition (I know I'm start looking annoying but):

There is a good portion of pirates who would never have bought their games anyways. They claim this as a lost sale.. But in reality they would NEVER have gotten that sale anyways. If they want to 100% sell the game, they should convert all games into MMO-s then. But of course then, it needs 1000x times MORE MONEY for servers and net equipment etc. and NOBODY will pay monthly fee for such games of course. UBI is owned anyways :)

  • Permanent internet connection my ass. Maybe I don't have packet of unlimited access to the internet, so what? I should be charged by my ISP just for nothing? The only games I buy, are ones on steam. I know Steam takes over our PCs, but at least I can play singleplayer games offline. I have already downloaded and cracked AC2, and there is a tweak that enables you to save offline. Just needs time to get fully working. Eat that ubi! P.S. nobody is insured from DDoS attacks, which happen right now.

  • I fully agree with author, I've been into gaming scene since 99 and back in days it was much better. All these sophisticated mechanisms of controlling the "digital property", just slaps the consumer. And double positive ubi bitches, you're sophisticated DRM is already partially cracked and eventually it will be bent. Acronym DRM is better to be translated as Digital Restriction Management. The only thing why they do it, just to buy them a day or two after release, so enough copies are sold

  • IMO

The only good DRM is Steam

All publishers should just use Steam.

  • Exactly, i dont see why some people hate on steam, steam is pretty good.

  • Yeah i buy all my games on Steam

It's Cheaper then retail for me and it works just fine :D

  • @d3mon776

At least Steam has a offline mode.

Played Half-Life 2 without internet connection on stream

  • Dick move Ubisoft, Dick move...

    DRM (Digital Retail Malfunction)

  • LOL Digital Retail Malfunction. Totally.

  • Dump Real Money <---- how to do this, just buy assassins creed 2 try to login with your ubi account, ERROR

try to register new account, ERROR

try to contact the customer support, "please login"

    login: ERROR...

    errrrr... now?

  • @modwebby Diabolic Rectal Molestation. As simple as that.

  • This whole business of centralized DRM because of piracy is a ruse.

These companies are using software piracy as a catalyst to usher in the "pay to play" business model.

Software piracy has always existed, yet the software industry continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

Don't buy into the "software piracy" line these companies are selling you. It is a lie. They could care less about piracy. They just want to usher in the "Farmville" model to exploit the paying customer as much as possible.

  • Very true. I think they are also trying to destroy the used market for games too. If each game is tethered to a console, and you can't re-register it then there is no used games market anymore.

Fuck these companies. But good news is, last I heard, the DRM was cracked in record time. LOL. These companies are absolutely brain dead.

  • Digital Rights Management. I don't like the sound of it. Now my rights get restricted with laws now my rights digitally "managed" by game COMPANIES not the government. they need a system like you need to connect to once verify not pirated blah, would be the most I would tolerate.

  • it was cracked in 24 hours

  • I just started to like Ubisoft. WTF is this for BS? I always shut down my wireless internet connection during gaming to prevent hackers from hacking my PC.

  • The best anti piracy tactic is to reward paying customers with free stuff. a good E.G of this is Mass Effect 2, you buy the game, make a Bioware account, and add your little cerberus network key you get free with the game, and bam you get free DLC.

Why should I have you pay money for a game and be punished for it when the pirates get the game free and get to play it with ease without all this DRM shit.

  • I would recommend all people to send a message to Ubisoft's youtube channel and say "Just wanted to let you know I will not be buying any games from you anymore."

  • the car analogy is slightly off, some auto makers are recording data in the computer system to see how you drove the car, If you stomped the pedal one too many times they void your warranty.

  • Yet another company that doesn't get it. "Stop fighting your customers. Focus on offering good value for money. Make a great product. Push incentives for buying the media instead of pirating it. You have to make your product WORTH buying."

    Words of wisdom, 5/5

  • Support 5/5

  • THOSE UBISOFT BITCHES ARE GOING TO RUIN ASSASSINS CREED 2 OMFG...

i wold buy this game when its cracked bcs my internet connection sucks and if i dont have a PERFECT internet connection DRM will reboot me to the menu -.-

  • @stufaos

I bought the game and the proxy server i'm forced to connect through won't permit it. Now I'm fucking pissed, pretty much never going to buy a Ubisoft game ever again.

This policy is without a doubt only punishing those who pay for the game legitimately. Pirates are going to get through it anyways, so it's only affecting those who have purchased copies.

  • why dont u go to the store were u bought it and say:

this piece of shit is fucked up give me a new one??? xD

  • @stufaos

Technically it's my internet proxy that is the problem. That doesn't change the fact that Ubisoft has ruined my experience with a 100% single player game by requiring a net connection (which I thought I had).

  • ill probably buy this one and the 3rd one bcs i have the 1st one and i want to complete my collection :)

but ill never buy games infested with DRM :P this is just and excepcion...

  • @stufaos Already cracked ASS creed 2.

  • who cracked ass creed 2???

    does it work fine????

can u give me the link?? :P

  • @stufaos No link but you can check my profile and you'll see me playing.

  • i think ppl will use reloaded and razor cracks even those who intend to buy original games

  • Comment removed

  • Wondering why Ubi bothers pissing everyone off to do new DRM when they'd be stupid not to realise it would be cracked? You're barking up the wrong tree.

They're not stupid and know it won't work. The main purpose of the DRM is to kill the used & rental market, which this does perfectly.

Battling piracy does nothing because most of them would never have bought it anyway, but battling the used & rental markets is smart since it's possible customers would buy it if there were no alternative.

  • eh... I might as well give the DRM a shot. sure its stupid but theres not much to complain about if it hasn't happened yet.

  • @blih: don't give them the satisfaction of knowing they sold you a game.

  • i think probably the worst... and most entertaining attempt was with that SPORE game lol ... and the saddest part was that the pirated version you could install as many times as you want.

  • As for DRM im not totally sure about it all, i don'#t really know enough but i think the basic function is to prevent piracy which can never be a bad thing imo but i can find DRM annoying if it stops you transferring something you paid for to a storage device like a flash drive or an external hard drive so that you have a back up, thats just bullshit :)

  • Im totally against digital downloads to me they suck as id much rather have the actual game or movie to watch or play whenever i want too plus if your hard drive dies you have to pay again and download it which is bullshit although i know some services allow a limited amount of downloads for a small cost but still id rather have the disc or cart in my collection. I think they should offer both phsyical and digital options

  • Great video, Yeh DRM was never gonna work, like you I like to have the physical media, also like you said if they offered free stuff with the game like with GTA San Andreas where you got a free poster,

Then more people will buy it.

Il be so glad when games companies see the error of there ways and give up on the whole DRM nonsense.

  • Exactly. I LOVED the posters that came in the GTA series. One more reason I love purchasing the physical media. For the little things.

  • yea i heard about this,i think this is a huge mistake on ubisoft's part

  • Yeah, they're going to learn about it the hard way I think.

  • im not sure if i know what this means.. are you talking about products where you need a cd key and shit like that?

  • No. What it means is that for PC gamers the game will try to authenticate itself every few seconds by pinging Ubisoft servers (ie. "hello ubisoft, am I authorized?") -- and if there is no response the game will kick you out to the main menu. It's just stupid.

Ie. if your connection goes down or Ubisoft servers do not reply then you cannot play the game. You NEED a connection at all times.

  • oh i see what your saying, your talking about games that you play online? hmm.. ive never had that happen to me, i play diablo 2 alot, and it doesnt do that shit lol

  • Actually that's the problem. It's for the game period. If you want to play offline you can't. There is no offline with these new games. You either have a connection or you don't play. Period. Ie. in single player you cannot play the game unless you authenticate it with Ubisoft.

    Totally ass backwards.

It's kind of different if you're playing ONLINE or something. You kind of expect to be able to connect to a server to play the game. But not with DRM.

  • I personally think that when you have a world wide copy machine that the business of cloning data can not and should not go on. Although it will be a while before open source games can compare company games for a while. Because of this Ubisoft is changing from selling a product to selling a service. But auto saving your game saves will not be worth it for most people. Where as I think world of world craft could go open source tomorrow and still make bank off of running their servers.

  • People need to start complain and resist DRM. DRM has no right to exist and should be eliminated.

  • I agree with you 100%
