  • this music has enough power to rip a whole in the Universe!!!

  • Great quality upload, and amazing track

  • coldplay is so gay wow

  • love it. brings back memories

  • i like how you can hear the bass clicking in the beginning. i used to think it was a dog barking lol when i was little.

  • @jjc19461 Is that what that is? I've always loved those sounds but could never figure out what the fuck they were.

  • @BareBandSubscription yeah he is like sliding it or something.

  • @jjc19461 Ah, I see. He's lightly scratching the strings, possibly with a pick or just with his nails.

  • I wish more people knew this song, seriously. Damn.

  • @WhatheShizz

    i count for 10

  • LOOOOL. this is fucking awful. why did they even reunite? no one gives a fuck about them anymore. go and listen to coldplay you wankers.

  • @C1owie you don't have to like soundgarden, in fact no one cares that you hate them, but if you really can't tell and acknowledge that some massively talented people wrote and recorded this song you have no right to comment on any art of any kind at any time, good, bad or otherwise...Coldplay would slap you about like a disobedient child for putting down this band, I gaurantee you that

  • @C1owie coldplay licks ass for fun

  • NOBODY IS HEAVIER THAN TAD! :)

    TAD - Satan's Chainsaw (WOW!)

    watch?v=vfEPrJuamEE

    TAD - Tuna Car

    watch?v=ExYQRiRjP18

    Tad - Axe To Grind

    watch?v=y9muNAMMLgQ

    TAD - Wired God

    watch?v=yI74r2EA6mU

TAD, The Melvins, Gruntruck, and My Sister's Machine should have been huge too. It would have saved us from Post-Grunge. :)

  • Shower in the dark day Clean sparks diving down Cool in the waterway Where the baptized drown Naked in the cold sun Breathing life like fire Thought I was the only one But that was just a lie [Chorus] Cause I heard it in the wind And I saw it in the sky And I thought it was the end And I thought it was the 4th of July Pale in the flare light The scared light cracks and disappears And leads the scorched ones here And everywhere no one cares
  • @HexagramMan The fire is spreading And no one wants to speak about it Down in the hole Jesus tries to crack a smile Beneath another shovel load [Chorus] Now I'm in control Now I'm in the fall out Once asleep but now I stand And I still remember Your sweet everything Light a roman candle And hold it in your hand
  • 4th of july ist my birthday so i always make sure to listen to this song,as a little birthday present to myself :P <3

  • I usually don't like heavy music, but... god yes, SOUNDGARDEN. There's just something hypnotizing about Superunknown and them in general.

  • Arguably the heaviest riff of all time. Fucking brilliant!

  • @RasEnante Yeah pretty heavy for grunge but off the top of my head the heaviest goes to Coffins (Japanese Doom/Death Metal) Under the Stench

  • Saw this song live at the forum (wanted to cry tears of joy because it was so awesome of them to play such an underrated song and its probably my favorite) but Chris said it was about a bad acid trip involving the cops haha. Im guessing the cops flashing lights represent the fireworks. But chris has always been big on allowing the listener to interpret his lyrics instead of just telling us so, interpret away !

  • Heyyy check out my channel!!

  • It's about the manga/anime X (often referred to as x/1999.)

It mixes several End of Days of prophecies, the plot starts on the 4th July, 1999. Cornell's also a big comics fan.

  • @thismakesmeveryangry No It's Not

  • Comment removed

  • I hope to b great 1 day......simply amazing

  • @xZeppelin420 Why not today ? be yourself. Amazing song it reminds me of Led Zep with the guitars, vocals, and drums. Actually it reminds me of Kashmire.

  • @1rammstein21 It's about Chris Cornell and his friends dropping acid, going through a forest and seeing fireworks all around and tripping major balls. The date that they did this was (obviously) the 4th of July.

  • This song is amazing.

  • superunknown is the superunknown metal grind/core album of all time. tons of shows, seem 'em all, from my 1st, KISS '76 @ the Spectrum, to both woodstocks, metallica/pantera/chili/nirvana/fla/skinny puppy.242/and 40 something DMb shows, a broad horizon, but , it all comes back to thayil and cornell,... soundgarden, hands down , the best...

  • Some people may not call this metal, but it kind of has a grindcore feel to it that introduced me to the metal scene just as I hit my teens, and I never looked back. For this, Superunknown is one of my top five greatest albums of all time.

Oh, and please God, make their 2012 reunion worth the wait. I hope Cornell rediscovers his origins and starts rockin' hard again to bring some spirit back to Seattle!

  • @SinisterTaz It sounds like sludge metal to me.

  • A year ago I was in Italy. I was sitting in my hotelroom 'cause it was so hot outside. All I did was reading a book called Song of Kali, while I listened to this song over and over. It was like I was in a dream.. Love on Soundgarden for making this song!

  • wow is all i can say

  • Listen up! hear the real music with pure emotion

  • 17 years later and still a regular on my stereo, my headphones, my internet...

  • this music is too good.

  • This song is heavier than gods balls.

  • @Samateepae ROFLLLLL

  • mY DICK HURTS FROM MASTERBANNGING, YOUR WOMEN.

  • @mikeurruler

future president of the united states right here.

  • @mikeurruler U might want to get that checked out...I got a hickey on my dick from last night and it does hurt

  • If the grim reaper owns a walkman of any kind he has this song on repeat while collecting souls

  • @TheWatsonGreen lol

  • God, I need to take a shower after I listen to this song. The riff is so sludgy, pure dirt! I love it :D

  • it's fucking beautiful, my favourite song..

  • Love the 2 different cornell singing voices one in low octave and the other in the higher...fucking brilliant

  • takes me back.....7 cones.....spread eagle on the floor ...with this crankin...good days

  • I miss music like this...now we have Justin Bieber -___-

  • this is like, the best song of all time

  • mmmmm I LOVE that really slow, heavy, sludgy sound and this is one of my favorite songs from this album

  • @indiostar6 It does remind me of Sludge Metal.

  • This song is definitely NOT about nuclear war, that's the "surface" interpretation. Look past that. Look into the words, it's a puzzle, a prophecy for things to come (at the time it was written)...think, 2001.

  • @1rammstein21 Nah, it's about LSD, just hidden behind some funky words.

  • Check the cover from the band rosetta!

  • Where has good music gone? I really wish I was around before the 90's so I could have grown up with this stuff. Music nowadays shouldn't even be classified as such.

  • hard coffee

    hard drugs

    hard rain

    the essence of Seatle

    the recipe for good music.

  • gloomy weather always puts this song in my head

  • @SoulFluid803

I was about to disagree, when I looked outside and realized it's raining. And I haven't listened to this song in a few years. So now I agree, and this song is still as badass as it was when I first heard it.

  • super unknown is truely one of my favorite albums ever

  • First time listening to the song/album and what else can I say but this is asdfghjkl amazing?

  • this song live is incredible. so fucking loud, the heaviest sound garden song imo

  • @ikariss77 Pretty Noose is way heavy too.

  • yeah got to love soundgarden!!!!!!!

  • Great song!

  • i only just discovered Soundgarden tonight, but like, this is fucking phenomenal :D

  • @0vaDaWudz I remember when I did right after this album came out. (which is still one of the best albums front to back period; genres be damned)

  • @0vaDaWudz Congrats! Glad new ears are getting tuned!

  • Is this song about war?

  • @KannibasKing420 4th of july is independance day in america...you decide

  • @Driveshaft12345 Ah, good point!

  • @KannibasKing420 I spelled that wrong...its independence...Just keep on rockin

  • @Driveshaft12345 Hells yea

  • @Driveshaft12345 its about a lsd trip.

  • @pivot1022 I have heard that a few times

  • @KannibasKing420 it's about a bad LSD trip actually

  • @Lawldudz No it's not, actually.

  • @Lawldudz Actully, you're right, sorry. Lost track of my playlist and thought I was commenting on "Head Down" haha

  • One of my all time favorite songs ever...that guitar is fucking deep

  • cool in the waterway

chris cornell!!! my ears are forever appreciative

  • the days do fly by...

  • people that hate on music because of genre can fuck off. i guess everyone cant have a great taste in music... only a select few. me being one.

  • i almost died on the 4th LOL they missed

  • cones

  • Such a slow, melodious death-march....What I would give to lead an army of the damned into melee combat with this blaring over loud-speakers.

  • the next 4th of july, i'll cry! *is a hetalia UsUk fan*

  • @TheNightcloudHATER awwwwwww, c'mere *hugs* Hetalia is the best, btw :)

  • @MsF1chick Hetalia is my current obsession right now *sniffle* I'm writing a fanfiction of a depressed england

  • @TheNightcloudHATER awwwwww, c'mere.. *hugs*

  • makes depression tasty hahah Soundgarden best band ever with a few other ties but none the less BEST BAND EVER ")

  • This is definitely the best Soundgarden song of all time. This was the song they closed with at the Gorge 7/30/11. Then they came back for an encore...which was great but couldn't hold a candle to this. HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY!

  • This is dark i hope their new album sounds like this, GRUNGY!! man i would pay them to make a new album like this

  • this makes blacksabbath sounds like, pop,,,

  • Fuck speed metal, I LOVE when it just sounds so fucking sludgy, and heavy. As if it's an aural representation of mud. And I mean this in the best way possible. Sludge metal rules.

  • @dissident93 I like speed metal, but I also love the slow Sabbath like sound

  • @MrCommanderData Well, I don't HATE speed/faster metal, I just can't get into the heaviness if it's going at lightspeed.

  • @dissident93 I hear ya

  • @dissident93 it's Melvins influence. All the grunge bands have a few

  • @crashbreakerr Melvins are awesome!

  • @dissident93 That's why it's called grunge ;)

  • @xxStygmataxx Some grunge was at punk speed. While good, the slower and heavier, the better. :D

  • @dissident93 Hehe yeah :P

  • @dissident93

    Death metal owns all.

  • @demon91 Not to big a fan. But metal IS metal still.

  • @demon91 Death metal is shit-tier metal.

  • @CitizenOfEuphoria

Your taste in music sucks ass then. :)

    Nothing personal.

  • @CitizenOfEuphoria What all death metal albums have you heard?

  • @mynameisjonas45 whys it matter? they all suck.

  • @pivot1022 If you haven't heard an album of a certain genre I really don't see how you can judge it. To really judge a genre correctly you need to listen to a few albums of that genre.

  • @mynameisjonas45 death metal sounds like ass. no one wants to listen to more then one song, let alone more then one album.

  • @pivot1022 Your statement doesn't make any sense. I assume you meant to use the word, "than".

Also, some people can be used are counterexamples to your statement. I enjoy death metal songs and albums. There are many people that do as well. Don't judge a genre if you haven't even heard one album in that genre. You should at least hear a few essential albums in a genre before you judge it.

  • @mynameisjonas45 jolly tale chap.

  • @CitizenOfEuphoria I'd agree on that but death metal is usually so instrumentally demanding and in most cases genius, I really can't agree with you. I listen to way too many amazing death metal bands, yet I still enjoy this. Why do we need to argue if we all like the same song?

  • @CitizenOfEuphoria

Death metal has one good band: Death. It was one of the first and their frontman is considered the godfather of death metal. I really recommend trying to listen to it, it might sound harsh at first but it's very melodic and the songwriter/frontman: Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) is a musical mastermind. They also have had amazing drummers (Gene Hoglan, the atomic clock) and one of the best bass players in the world: Steve DiGiorgio. They also made some very good instrumentals.

    :)

  • @Brutalyeah death metal has more good band than grunge .

  • @CitizenOfEuphoria No, it is just heavier than your little cock can support.

  • @demon91

    death metal owns nothing.

death metal is a bunch of untalented penis-breaths that convince people that they are playing very well because they are inaudible.

the only death metal that i can even listen to is dethklok. THEY know what they are doing.

my best friends brother is balls deep into death metal. I prefer progressive rock/metal. he and i are both drummers. which of us do you think can do more intrecite beats/fills? Me, baby!

Death metal fans only care about the double bass

  • @gaybutte

Oh my fucking Jesus..... just... wow.... if you're not a troll, then.... wow.... dude, give up. Now.

  • @gaybutte There are a few good death metal bands, I'm not a death metal person, I'm more of a progressive and alternative type person, Death mixes Progressive Metal and Death Metal, they don't scream about killing people(Early albums, yeah they do), they actually have a point, a lot of their songs deal with the Human Mind, and thinking for yourself, another good one is Sepultura, I like to call them the world's metal band, because they mix elements from Brazil(where they're from), in the music.

  • @MikeyboyMovies Brazil rocks hard dude

    Waves from argentina

  • @dissident93 i never try to leave suggestions for other people to listen to, but if you like sludge metal, if you havent already, you MUST listen to acid bath's "bleed me an ocean". they're not together anymore, but is exactly what you're describing. hope you like it!!

  • @NotSure244 Wow, thanks dude! That was pretty cool shit! Exactly how I described it. hahah

  • Damn......they played this live at the Vancouver show. VERY pleasant surprise! At some points it got so heavy I thought I was seeing Electric Wizard!

  • fuck muslim extremists

  • There's 'Heavy', There's 'Choppy', There's 'Grungy',

    then there's this...

    - This song is about nuclear war, and the denial

    of it's inevitability

  • Comment removed

  • my favorite Soundgarden song

  • @1therealmckoy Mine too, Broski.

  • I thought i was the only one......that was just a lie

  • Does anyone else think that this song could qualify for sludge metal?

  • @MsF1chick i could understand that

  • @Battlescar2 it has like that dreary, sludgy, really, really, really distorted sound to it, which made me think of sludge metal

  • @MsF1chick well thats kinda where grunge comes from. that and punk rock

  • @chapinguy ah, I see.

  • @MsF1chick its like... Alternative Sludge lol

  • @MsF1chick I would agree

  • 9 people don't know what good music is :D

  • The 9 dislikes must not be American....Fucking al queera pieces of shit

  • if there was ever a sound to describe the definition of grunge, it's this song.

  • How fucking badass is that riff? Damn, I love this song...

  • the pause between 3:37 and 3:50 creates so much tension...

  • ooohh shit!!!! my ears have an orgasm!!!

  • Melvins!!!

  • @MarkHarrellJr No what?

  • @crashbreakerr Just....no.

  • @MarkHarrellJr so no

  • Great song. This album is truly a 90's gem!

  • accurate tabs anyone?

  • in my country its 12th of june haha

  • @CrimsonComedian19 oh yeah, i know, he's just saying that there were so many explosions, he knew it was the end, he thought he was the fourth of july

  • 2:56 never ceases to cause chills...

  • This song isn't really patriotic. it's about the end of the world but either way this song is amazing and so heavy

  • @jCantrell03 nothing more patriotic then the end of civilization lol.

  • @blackoutcider hahahahaha

  • @blackoutcider HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Shit that's funny. LMFAO!

  • @jCantrell03 It's about being on an LSD trip. The 4th of July and end of the world lyrics are in reference to the colours you see, which resemble fireworks/fire.

  • fucking LOVE this song!!!

  • 9 people don't have fireworks

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE THEM AND AMERICAN CONCIOUS!!!

  • Goin to see them tomorrow night......cant wait

  • @tomder77

they might play this at your show... they played it in boston. this, ugly truth, hunted down, beyond the wheel... i was blown away.

they also have played hands all over and gun at some others... they are def keeping it real!!

  • this song puts me in a really dark place

  • this song is about chris on acid. he said it too !

  • pure nostalgia of my childhood

  • Saw them live tonight. To quote a possibly intoxicated man leaving the venue after it was over, the concert was "FUCKING PHENOMENAL!" :)

  • Whenever I hear this song, it eerily reminds me of 9/11. Of course, I know this was written way before 2001, but does anyone else agree?

The lyrics are very haunting-good song.

  • Does anyone know what they tuned to on this song?

  • @bongfodder (low to high) CFCGBE i believe

  • @dc9928 ah thank you much, easy song after you get that.Fun to play, they must be using 016 gauge strings or playing very lightly though.

  • this song needs more hits i think it is a really good song :)

  • i was vote 999 cool!!!

  • @k9masterr I was 1001. Let's find the 1000th vote and kill him and then we can have a duel about who's going to take his place!

  • I'm going to see these guys in Fairfax, VA on Tuesday. I can't wait to see my favorite band of all time. This band is amazing and not only that but it doesn't get the credit it deserves. Still... What a fun show it will be. I don't care that I'm traveling for days to see them.

  • @Meladolus dude i just seen them tonight and let me tell you...ive seen black sabbath and soundgarden topped every single show ive ever seen....it was fucking awesome...all those miles are gonna be worth it my friend
