I remember playing this game a looong time ago. This game is terrible. Hard, horrible graphics and boring gameplay. Thanks to the internet and youtube i could finally see the end of this game whithout have to play this crappy game again.
I'm having a couple of problems with Ravenloft, and the internet doesn't provide any info on either. In the caverns west of Barovia, the game halts and I get a "attempt to load non-resource file xx / x " message. Also, what's the deal with NPC's leaving randomly? The female fighter you find in the village (the "noble" looking one) left the party as soon as I stepped outside her house. Is that supposed to happen?
@JankyToe HELLO FRIEND... as far as the load error. If you are playing the disk (non cd version) there are some known bugs like that. There is a ravenloft patch out there somewhere to fix this, or use the cd version. The game I LPd hardly ever crashed and when it did it was a unique case. As far as the NPCs leaving the party... not sure... maybe an alignment thing ... ill have to look into it
@JankyToe At first I only had a cd with version 1.1 of the game. I found a patch on the internet for the version 1.2 and that generated the crashes that you describe. Try entering the house with the ghost. ;-) Version 1.1 generated other crashes and I switched savegames between those two versions to finish the game.
The AD&D Masterpiece Collection contains the version 1.2a of the game which runs smoothly. Didn't find a patch for that version on the internet, though.
@JankyToe Tatian looks a lot like Tatyana, Strahd's lost love. If you have Tatian and Vladislav (who ist Strahd in disguise) in the same party something might happen. Probably something bad.
@AydinCanGur LOL... well thanks, thats means a lot... Im glad there are those who enjoy my style and my LPs... If you have any requests just let me know...
Oh btw man awsome video! I really like how you give us time to read the text ( and I enjoy your voice over work as well, two things youtube seldom often has)! I really apriciate you posting this ( I never thought I was going to be able to see the game in it's entirety, so thanks once more!
Hey THANK YOU friend... its your comments and other users that keep me going. I wouldnt do this at all if it werent for the small group of loyal fans that I have. You keep watching and commenting... Ill keep making them vids!!
I remember seeing the advertisements for this game when I was a kid, but never could get my hands on it. Anyone know where I could download a copy of it ( Ravenloft has always been my favorite ad&d world)? Thank you for posting this, I always wondered what this game looked like, and though it's no baldurs gate or planescape torment I would love to play it!
Google says that can download the game from cdosabandonware and oldgames. But I don't know whether that is entirely legal and those probably are only 3,5'' disk versions of the game. The CD version of the game is much larger and better. You can get that for small money on Ebay.
You dont have to open the inventory every time you pick up an object. Just pick up the object with a left click an then make a right double click on a characters portrait. The object will be transferred into that characters inventory. Thats a convenient way to first gather all the stuff and then arrange it in the inventory.
You could actually streamline your gaming if you moved your party around via keyboard. And you dont have to right click at the characters hands to attack monsters. Simply left click on the monster when it is near the party. Observe how the cursor changes when you move it over the monster. That way all the characters that are able to do so will attack the monster. Simply left click on the beasty until it is dead. You still have to activate spells via the spell books though.
Given its age, I still hold this game in pretty high regard. Atmosphere was extremely well done and the voice acting was good. Mechanics for the day were pretty good, given the technology.
On the other hand, there were no places to "grind levels" and the dialogue was something you'd expect from a troupe of amateur LARPers.
I am sure I have this game on a compilation somewhere - will have to dig it out again! The problem is, if I say 'I will finish Daggerfall first' we could be looking at a couple years before I get round to this game! :)
Wow I used to play this game when it was out! Thank you so much for posting it up so that I may watch it. It really brings back some great memories. Thank you so much one again.
