I think the book is actually King´s best work. It´s just M-O-O-N, uh, I mean it´s awesome. Tom Cullen, Larry Underwood and all the others helped me to cover stretches of time which would have been pretty boring otherwise.
No, Stephen King made Randall Flagg not as the devil, but as a devil FIGURE, sort of a powerful Antichrist wizard type. He may be an embodiment of evil, but he's not Satan, no.
Frannie Goldsmith is the most abrasive, annoying, and imo pointless character I've ever read in a Stephen King novel. The whole time I was hoping Harold would kill her, but not Stu, Stu is alright... =)
u gotta feel sorry for trashy, Larry, Tom and i always feel sorry for ray flowers at the beginning coz he looked like he wud've survived if the soldiers ddnt kill him coz he was speaking his mind
I low stephen king but as movie i don't know. It is very hard to do a movie on stephen because he is so particular in people and what they feel so it's a big challenge for actors. But i did like the green mile
reading this book now actually, it's a brilliant novel, can't wait to finish the book, so that i can watch this movie, from the snippets i've seen here, i'm going to guess there's alot of dirrerence between the two, miniscule, but probably plentiful.
I am reading too. I just got to Book 2. FAntastic novel! My favorite chapter was the one where they show everyone who died accidently that survived Captian Tripps.
oh man. when i read your post i knew exactly what part you were talking about. i was too young the first time i read The Stand, and that part messed me up. more than the worldwide death and the fight of good vs evil. the paragraph or two with the woman with the shotgun and the little boy who falls... i get chills just thinking about it.

The writing sucks the casting is worse, Molly Ringwald!!?? It's not as bad as "IT" with John Ritter and Harry Anderson, and Tim Curry!!! YUCK!! HBO or SciFi needs to do this right. Gary Sinise is a plausible Stu Redman, but maybe Adam Sandler as Larry Underwood, there is something about him that is like biting on tin foil! Johnny Knoxville as Lloyd Henreid, Owen Wilson as Tom Cullen, Steve Buscemi as Trash Can Man, Samuel L Jackson as Randall Flagg. Bruce Dern as Glen Bateman, whatcha think?
Hmm, I dunno man. Although some of the people were horribly cast (Nadine, Glen, etc.), the cast you're describing is too comedy based. I mean...I liked some of these actors.
Owen wilson would better then Bill Fagerbakke>? I dunno if I spelled his name right.Max Headroom (can't remember the actor's name) as trashy? Molly isn't believable as Fran. Knoxville has some good chops, I liked his character in "Walking Tall" even if the movie blew.
lots of the people that you picked would be terrible for those parts and any body could have played Penny wise so it doesn't madder if it was Tim Curry or not
It matters. Pennywise would be better CG than with the Rocky Horror reject Curry. IT as a made for TV movie was horrible. The book itself for is second only to The Stand.
Bruce springsteen as larry underwood would be a good casting call, whatcha think james0829......better then sandler...sandler is a good actor, just not when trying to do a serious person
I picked Sandler because he is younger, and because as the girl said "he ain't no nice guy" there is something in him like biting on tin foil. The Boss is simply too old for the part. Some turd in Hollyweird would likely cast Billy Ray Cyrus for the part...ick. Besides I've never seen Springsteen act, Sandler can sing....sort of...
These musical "tributes" to the series posted on YouTube are better than the actual series, which I thought was very weak. The book is my alltime favorite, and certainly there has never been more relevance and believability to the storyline in these scary times.
It deserved a hard hitting miniseries treatment for HBO with more of a "Blair Witch"-ish documentary realism, instead they gave us a watered down Sunday school version.
And Michael Madsen wouldve been the ultimate Randall Flagg!
On my "Subterranean Cinema" rare film website (the location is listed in my profile), youll find a screenplay for the version that was going to be created by George Romero (before the clowns in suits at Warner Brothers pulled the plug). Check it out there for FREE and see if you dont agree with me that it was much closer to the dark spirit of the book than the TV version, which would have been more at home on the Hallmark Channel or the Trinity network (probably with Kirk Cameron as Nick).
It's about a manmade plague that escapes a gov't facility and destroys 99.9% of the population, exept for a few that are immune. People either dream of a kind old black lady and gather around her, or an evil man and gather around him. Good and evil battle.
ohh i thot it was only four parts 2.well wen this came out i was like 3 so i just saw the movie yesterday on VHS. and ohh i LOVE nick!!!! how dare they kill him!!! damn harold.....

To Meowyn. he is a security guy from the beginning of the book, who escapes with wife and baby.
