I am an amatuer mma fighter and I have personally seen smaller shows make 50-75 k and only pay 4 or 6 of 24 or 26 fighters.and they only get paid 1 or 2 k sometimes less. Also - just to make clear, I feel Dana and Zuffa actually saved the UFC from going under when they bought the company, but this was nothing to do with the fighters but rather the different ways SEG and Zuffa ran the UFC. Zuffa got the UFC back on TV etc, but without the core fave fighters (Tito, Randy, Vitor and Chuck) the UFC would have lacked the talent they needed to push the sport into the limelight. Now both Randy n Tito feel they have been let down by the company they helped build.

GSP earned a $500k bonus for his first win over hughes, on top of base salary, finishing bonus and sponsership.

Also - just to make clear, I feel Dana and Zuffa actually saved the UFC from going under when they bought the company, but this was nothing to do with the fighters but rather the different ways SEG and Zuffa ran the UFC. Zuffa got the UFC back on TV etc, but without the core fave fighters (Tito, Randy, Vitor and Chuck) the UFC would have lacked the talent they needed to push the sport into the limelight. Now both Randy n Tito feel they have been let down by the company they helped build.

To all those idiots sayin that Tito was made by the UFC and so owes something to Dana.... erm - if you look back at the history of the UFC you will see that actually when Tito started in the organisation it was owned by SEG... Zuffa (and Dana) then bought the UFC and Titos contract along with it. Before this he had made a very big name for himself in the UFC and was the star that Dana USED to build the UFC's foundation to what it is today. Of course Dana and Zuffa have done alot but so has Tito!

ultimately, the fighters themselves choose to fight in the ufc. no one makes them sign these contracts. and a significant amount of the money ufc fighters earn is from sponsers. including ufc pay, submission bonus and sponsership, Frank Mir earned $240k for his fight with lesner. and if you are one of the top fighters, you get paid pretty damn well. GSP earned a $500k bonus for his first win over hughes, on top of base salary, finishing bonus and sponsership.
