now that you mention. you could probably come up with some pretty colorful chords with the second and third finger while the first and forth are in that position

as a guitar instructor, you should use your first and third finger (more traditional power chording). Trying to get some one thats not used to using their pinky to use a first and forth finger power chord might throw them off a bit. Other than that, those octaves are actually natural harmonics baby. Good tutorial over all though

Its the way i play power chords unless i need to use my pinky for something else more interesting than power chords :)

I do tend to play power chords with my first and pinky....so why would i try to teach people something other than what i know? thats just like trying to teach people chinese when i only know french lol

1:00 sounds wrong

1:20 they're called natural harmonics. You dont actually press the string to the fret at all, you just got to gently touch the string with your fingertip and pull off immedially.

its just like hitting the string and pulling off....yeah its called a natural harmonic buddy and that was a poor description, you actually lightly hold ur finger on the string above the fret without pressing down and pluck it and lift ur finger off
