Its because of the buildings and the stands at the concert venue, creating an awful echo, just a pity the radio broadcasters didn't consider that. You can hear a better version if you just type in Equinoxe 5 Docklands
My son and I was going to that concert but couldn't make it so I sold the tickets. I remember seeing it on the Tele and it pissed down, Jean Michel's hair hung in rats tails.
Me and some friends couldn't get hold of tix for this, so wandered around until we found a squat to watch from. Nearly fell through a hole in the floor ! Good night but got SO WET.
Could not agree with you more people, that this Docklands performance was ripped off with some of the best tracks, by Mike Mansfield. For sure they had to promote the Revolution album.
I was there & on the second night when the footage was filmed & i can honestly say i have never been so wet since. i was on magic mushrooms (youthfull exhuberance etc)& it was probably the most memorable night of 80s for me & one of the greatest of my life. Real triumph through adversity.
Anybody who has seen Destination Docklands Video and heard the Radio Broadcast would spot this straight away. Its a pity Mike Mansfeild didn't do one. Was hoping somebody would throw a PLD EQ 5 together
Audio is not running fast, that's how it was that night. What you hear is the radio broadcast with various takes from the 'Destination Docklands' concert footage put together to form a video for this track. This is not an official video.
I went on staurday night it didnt rain until the concert was finnished it was the best Jarre concert ever !!!!!!

I remember when this show was... they had to clear the empty docks buildings out of the homeless so that no one would get hurt with the lasers...

The slap back echo spoils this. And he's obviously miming anyway.

yeah that's the one thing i don't like about jarre. He never really plays live.Maybe he is better at composing then playing, dunno
nederwiet1 3 years ago
He always plays live - trouble with the offical Docklands video, and a few others, is that it is so badly edited that it does look like he's miming.

Guess you're right there, wiki did say that the VHS of Docklands wasn't very good...

isnt that the huge outdoor delay making it sound "fast" ?
I was there on the saturday night, they never did a sped up version of Equinoxe 5.
Mike Mansfield RUINED the live video of this.
