  • I don't understand all the hate. I love leaving origami tips. Every once in a while I get to see the servers reaction, and they have always been positive. I'll definitely add this one to my list of ones to do.

  • D: I only haz one dollarz! :(

  • i wish i wouldve known i needed a pipe cleaner in the beginning.

    i cant finish it.

    waste of my time.

  • 90% of the money in our country is made of plastic =.= cant fold it

  • that was GAY!

  • thanks for the instruction!!!

  • thx

now i just know how to make money a gift so people can't complain about it ;)

  • great instruction!!!

    Thank you

  • I too keep pipe cleaners by my side.........JK... thats weird lady.. do u just make flowers in random places?

  • i made my butterfly with a 10 and 5 euro note

    it looks really colourfull

  • I'm for sure going to leave butterfly tips at restaurants from now on. Even if it only is $2...

  • insted of pipe cleaner i used a string so it turns out to be a butterfly with no intenus! :D

  • y'all are just haters!

  • i dont have a pipe clea

    ner!!!!!

  • nice

  • @lisasheaorigami You're amazing.

  • @lvlilf srsly with birds? :/

  • @lvlilf i yo face!!!! XD

  • @lvlilf lmfao

  • haha i like how she carries pipe cleaners in her purse :)

  • This is adorable. I'm a school principal that gives out dollar bills for "lost teeth", good behavior, birthdays, and such. These cute butterflies will add that little extra. Thanks!

  • cool :P

  • Well I watched many videos to fold a butterfly out of a dollar bill, and this method gives by far the most decorative result! And it's easy to fold as well ;)

    Thanks Lisa!

  • Love this !!!! I made about 10 of them for my bff and sent them 2 her along with her birthday gift! she loves butterflys~

  • wow that is cute lol

  • why would you keep pip cleaners in your purse

  • So I could make butterfly tips using them :) Heck most women carry far stranger things than pipe cleaners in their purses ...

  • @lisasheaorigami Like pepper spray :D

  • For cleaning pipes, obviously!

  • haha parakeets ^^

  • Thats probably the most expensive piece of crap with no use, that I have ever seen. Either way, nice job ^^.

  • If you never give tips, then I imagine so! Most people who go to restaurants leave tips for their waiter or waitress, so this is a wonderful way to do it!

  • It's only nice to them until they gotta take it apart and spend it on something else. And I do give tips, but I don't sit there folding the money O_o

  • like a lot u get 13 outof 5

  • awesome

finally a butterfly i can use 5€ bills for :D

  • umm could you please learn to not breathe into wat ever your talking to it drives me crazy

  • Sorry about that, I did better with the mic sound on the other videos :) It took some practice.

  • its really bautiful if u use canadian money because u can have different colours i tried a blue 5 dollar and purple 10 dollar it was pretty sweet

  • do u have birds as pets cuz i hear birds in the back ground at the begining

  • Yup I have parakeets!

  • Thank you so much for showing me how to make this awesome butterfly! It makes a great gift! Thanks once again!

  • cool

  • My Grama made it perfectly -_-

  • I can do a better one with one dollar

  • Awhh so cute! Wow the muny makes a beautiful effect.

  • ...Would have been good if there was no need for something to hold it...

  • You sound like Sandra Bullock, anyone told you?

    Nice Origami.

  • this helped me soo much, i needed it for a money tree and this worked perfectly

  • "Perfect for beginners"

  • Money Origami Butterfly ?!? what's this . are't you got nothing better to do ,like origami with money bill . i do know origami i love it but this goes way to far . People realy boring them self's . cheers

  • I HEARD BIRDS!

  • You sound like you're from Nova Scotia. Are you?

  • Nope! I'm from New England :)

  • Ha-Ha, I would say i was pretty close only like 400 miles off.

  • who has a pipe cleaner with them god!

  • You don't need a pipe cleaner! There are many alternatives, including straw wrappers! Origami is about being inventive!

  • i will start paying in butterfly money now >.>

  • su voz es muy linda.... y la mariposa esta facil de hacer... gracias

  • WOOOOOOW, AWESOME!!! i gots to maake thiis! i'm going to be the coolest kid in town. i'm going to show EVERYONE

  • xDDD

  • LOLOLOL

  • hee hee Scrabble :)

  • its not a scrabble board. its a go board.

  • omg that u soo much i was try`n to make a money rose and i could not find any help but this is much better thankz

  • This is a very easy origami trick, although I have to say i'm not a fan of the pipe cleaner connectivity. I've only recently become a fan of origami but I must say that there should be a better way to connect the two, folding them together somehow and discarding the need of pipecleaners or any other non-paper attachment. Not trying to be disrespectful, I just think personally it would look better.

    Not a bad idea though.

    Cheers

  • this is so easy to follow thanks Lisa

  • born complainer? that's what the pause icon is for dumbass

  • butterflies dont have curley antenna but ok, i like it all the same anyway lol x

  • I love GO

  • haha did everything but I don't have any pipe cleaners

  • Remember you don't need pipe cleaners! Use shoelace strings, straw wrappers, twistie ties, anything you want. It's fun to be creative!

  • sorry to say but kind of ugly butterfly

  • If you don't like dollar bills you can use any type of paper you want - you can customize it infinitely :) It is only ugly if you personally choose paper you do not like.

  • Very Nice Lisa..!! I had a wonderful Origami book years ago and made an amazing Deer.. Wish I still had the book to relearn it and share.

  • !!!dont give those to me i only use them!!!! LOL

  • u guys just waste mony send it to me!! XD

  • Do you really never give a tip to a waitress??

  • that's cool

    you have awesome hands

ah that's a weird thing to say innit?

  • that was so kewl!!! i made it but what threw me off was the pipe kleaner ididnt no we needed that!!!lol

  • is this the sound of a budgie in de backgroud???? ^^

  • Are you from Alaska? You have the same accent.

  • LOL nope! I'm from the east coast :)

  • Lisa Can You Make More Origami PLZ I Have MADE ALL THE ORIGAMI YOU MADE SO PLZ MAKE NEW THINGS LIKE HARD ONES PLZ NEED ONES PLZ PLZ

  • me to do u go on gokgs?

  • ahhh what a jerk .... you should really go over what you need before you stat rambling on haha no pipe cleaner=/ but pretty kool haha

  • Actually the pipe cleaner is just one of many options! You don't need to use a pipe cleaner at all. it's fine on it's own! You can do all sorts of things to a butterfly. You can add a hair twistie. A straw wrapper. Stickers on the wings. Have fun!

  • cool =P

  • is the thing u r doing this on a go broad?

  • Yes it's a go board, I love go :)

  • i want 2 dollars $_$!!!!!

  • haha if you connect them with a rubber band it looks like the fairy from link

  • That is too cute! :)

  • Never quite realised how fun origami is, your a brilliant instructure! I've also watched your video on how to fold a crane, i gave it to my girlfriend for our paper anniversiry and she loved it! Being a teenager and therefore short of cash origami seemed a good plan. Thanx so much!

  • Yes origami is a great inexpensive present! For money ones you can just use paper cut into the shape of a bill :)

  • *scrabble

  • lol yea do u have a budet problem??

    why cant it be a 5 , 10 , 20 dollar bill

    and ughhh scarbble board?? lol

  • I have done this with $50 and $100 bills for loved ones' birthdays :) However, people complain that I am "wasting money" as it is when I demonstrate with $1 bills, so it is a balancing act :) Remember, lots of people in the world struggle to live on $2/day, it is wise not to be too cocky about cash.

That's not a Scrabble board!! Do you see any colored squares? It is a traditional Japanese go board.

  • Do you have budgies?

  • Yes indeed! Go to lisashea dot com to see all about them :)

  • You are amazing!!

    I LOVE IT!!

..now i need 2 dollars.... humm.. LOL

    Keep posting!!

    -Thank you-

  • i gave it to girlfrind and she love it

  • That's so cool! They are fun to hang in windows :)

  • yes

  • my god this is better than the dam books, lol.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • hey not to be mean because i aint a mean person but you tend to be a bit nervous when you talk. mayby work on that. ^_-

  • I am super nervous when I talk :) It's why I work from home, because I'm shy :)

  • Just COOL! You are such a great Origami teacher/instructor on video. Are you conducting lessons on Origami?

    Love to hear from you!

My son Ken wld LOVE it when I show to him!!!

He will go wild as he loves origami but never got started yet.

Thank you very much for sharing. Terry.

  • Thank you so much! I don't do lessons in person, but I do have the origami DVD which has high quality versions of all of these shapes, plus a better soundtrack :)

  • awsome vid it was how i learned to make fred ,bob, phil, larry, hanah, jessica, tracy, and pokahontus

    good job :~)

  • man i wish i had a pipe cleaner!! (i would name it jerry)

  • rofl nice :-p

  • You can get pipe cleaners at pretty much any craft or WalMart type of store. They come in a variety of colors too!

  • SO JERRY CAN B ORANGE?! WOO! thankies!

  • THANZ FOR THE TIP U ROCK!!!!!!!1

  • Oh, your video's help sooo much, lol, im terribly bored and I picked up an Origami book, and kept messing up, so I went 2 youtube and found your videos.. they're all so helpful tyvm :)

  • I'm so glad you are enjoying them! Good luck on creating a flock of butterflies!

  • I am now a big fan of ur origami video, they are really straight forward, to the point, and very clear!!!

  • I'm so glad you like them! I do have a DVD version which is much higher quality with better soundtracks, if you're interested :)

  • I will look into that! Thank you!

  • i like your website.

  • Thanks so much!

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You look like Mona Lisa!(and I mean that in a GOOD way!Your pretty.)

    p.s. I'm a girl by the way!!!

  • roflmao scrabble!

  • Yes the letters are scrabble letters, but the board is a Go board :)

  • this one was a lottttttttt easier to understand.....and alot more fun!

    ty!

  • i got pissed when i made all of this then realized she uses pipe cleaners and i didnt have any. =P

  • You don't NEED pipe cleaners!! Use straw tubes! Use thin strips of paper. Use colored wires. Surely every house has *something* they can use :) Use a hair scrunchie.

  • Haha me too, I made them both then I needed something to tie it with and im like...WHAT?! Lol I just un-did them both.

  • Don't you guys have twine in your house? String? Yarn? Thread? Dental floss?? :)

  • Well I just like making origami things without anything other than the dollar

  • OK, so take a third dollar bill and use that to make the body of the butterfly - just fold a money origami ring, and that forms the perfect body :)

But heck, does that mean that hanging origami cranes from your Christmas tree with string is bad, because you use string? Origami is an art form :) Be artistic!

  • ftl

  • Do you mean the butterflies are for the ladies - or are you saying they're pretty in Fort Lauderdale? :)

  • Cool Vid!

  • Thats awesome!!

  • I'm very glad you like it! If you're at a restaurant where you got straws, you can use the straw wrappers for the antennae :)

  • i also dont understand why people are being mean :S mind you i get the same responces to what i do so i guess there are people out there that just want to cause trouble :P anyways great video ive seen most of yours and i give the money to my driving instructor and he seems to like them :P

  • That definitely sounds like a good idea - bribe your driving instructor! Maybe he'll be nice to you on the test :)

  • wow this is really a great tutorial. i was reading some of the other comments and i don't understand why some people are being so mean. like you can love origami and stuff and still have a life god u know if they want to insult this video why don't they just not watch it its so stupid. well any way THIS VIDEO is AWESOME and i really like the butterfly its really cute ^^

  • lol thanks :) Since you can make a butterfly in the time it takes for a waitress to take the check and bring back the change, I think it's silly for people to complain it "wastes time" :) The waitresses really like the gift!

  • hehe that sounds so fun, next time i'm at a resturant i will try that out. exept i might use like a rubber band or something, cus i don't have any pipe cleaners in my purse (lol, so funny ^^)

  • Sure, a rubber band would work wonderfully! Or a hair scrunchie, those are cheap and would add pretty colors to it. Maybe a ribbon ...

  • That's sweet of you :) I do hike, mountain bike, motorcycle, ski ... if you visit lisashea dot com you can see my travelogues as well!

  • you carry pipecleaners in your purse?,,, that means you really dont have a live, take those dollars and go buy yourself one

  • lol I do carry pipe cleaners in my purse, and I carry small origami paper too. Lots of people carry lots of things in their purses, it doesn't mean we don't have lives. Is it bad to give people free presents?

  • I'm sorry I had to remove your other comment, this is a family friendly forum! Sheesh :) If you're curious about the guy I've been with for 12+ years, head on by the lisashea site.

  • my bird was talking to your bird as i watched this video

  • That is too funny! We have lots of parakeet owners at the lisashea dot com website forums, if you want to talk with other parakeet parents about their pets :)

  • kool, but i just realized that this isnt really origami since you used the pipe cleaner thing, origami is only paper

  • That's like saying a crane isn't origami because you added a string to hang it from a Christmas tree :) Origami is a folded piece of paper with no cuts. You're allowed to add other things to it to make it pretty :) It's still origami if you fold a paper cat, and glue it to the front of a card for example!

  • yea but those examples are just finishing touches, its different

  • OK, then make your butterfly without pipe cleaners, just lay the two pieces side by side and you're all set :) It's still a butterfly. If you wanted to join them, make a money ring and use that as the joiner.

  • ^-^ eee okay.

  • I hear birds!! I have 7 budgies ^-^

  • yup I have four budgies, go to lisashea . com to see photos of them and talk in my parakeet forum :)

  • cute "Flip,flip,flip"

  • Take a piece of paper. Trace your dollar bill around it. Cut out the shape. Now you have two shapes to fold. Lots of people do this with paper, not with dollars.

  • Yeah I don't quite like the pipe cleaner. But it would be great for rich people partys! Yes, a dollar is rich to me.

  • I don't think of them as party items as much as tips, so that the money would be given anyway. If someone delivers a pizza and would get $2 as their delivery fee, I keep these by the door. That way they get something special for their work.

  • in america you have to give tips for pizza delivery??? surely that comes free??

  • UK deliverymen earn set wages no matter how poorly they treat customers. US waiters etc earn low wages with the assumption that they'll get tips to make up the difference IF they are polite. So clients pay less for the actual item - and then we tip which makes up the difference. We pay about the same overall as you do. But in the US, the worker earns based on the quality of their job, because of the tip. It means we get better service because they have direct incentive. My UK friends all agree.

  • oh i see. thank you for explaining. so i guess thats why taxi drivers and waitresses get mad at us in new york when we dont tip. lol.

  • Well if they did an awful job it's fine to tip low or not at all! But if they did a nice job, then yes, you're taking away from their weekly salary if you don't tip them the standard amount. Their salary is calculated with the assumption they will earn $X a week in tips as part of it.

  • hahahaha... u say origami but

  • lol i got all the way until i needed a pipe cleaner. I dont have any. lol but other than that you did great ^_^

  • Ooops sorry about that, I should definitely have mentioned that up front!

  • you are a great teacher!

  • pretty : )

  • Jeez Louise :) Yes, Canadian money would be gorgeous for a butterfly :)

  • "in and out", now there's a motion that I'm very familiar with. rather unfortunately, lisa and I have practiced any of the ol' in and out. yet. hint, hint, nudge, nudge, lisa. in Canada these sorts of butterflies would be neat because Canadian money is colourful compared to US money. this is one of your better videos despite your absence wearing a nice bra and panties. or not wearing them.

  • Guess I'll have to wait til payday to try this :D

  • Really, it doesn't matter at all. You still have a rectangle shape, which means you still can make a butterfly out of it. In fact your butterfly will be prettier, because it won't just be green ...

  • ROFL! Good answer. good video, by the way. Suscribed!

  • what do u do if u r in england?
