  • ONLY IN AMERICA WOULD THEY BE LEAVE THAT WATER WOULDN'T SEEP THRU CONCRETE ITS POROUS OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE FULL OF WATER IDIOTS BUT THEN AGAIN THAT'S WHY THE NEW WORLD ORDER CHOSE AMERICA AS THERE HEAD BASE BECAUSE THEY SAID THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WERE THE DUMBEST IN THE WORLD AND THEY WOULDN'T ASK WHATS HAPPENING TO A 23 TRILLION DOLLARS OF THERE TAX DOLLAR EVERY YEAR TAKEN BY THE NWO AS I SAID IDIOT'S

  • @obieezx11 HAHAHAHAHA 2007 WERE WATER IS WORTH MORE THAN THE CAR.

  • @obieezx11 You sound stupid! WOW

  • Why even put it underground? Why not in a BUILDING where theres NO WATER? Duh!

  • Even the best mixes of concrete in road construction allow water to gain entry into the steel which rusts making the structure weak.

To curb the effects of water on concrete Dr. Celik Ozyildirim, principal research scientist, Virginia Transportation Research Council suggests conrete sealants or "One option is epoxy-coated steel"

The highest density/strength concrete in 1957 would have sucked up the water like a sponge.

  • I hope for all you porous concrete fans--- none of you were in charge of the concrete work at the Hoover Dam or any other dam .Don't believe everything you read on Google ---- on high pressure concrete the porosity is negligible .

The problem is like I said before sealing the top with a steel lid ------ the thermal expansion rates are different .

Politicians are all ass holes only good at stealing your money and handing out contracts to their friends -------

That is the whole problem ..

  • @millwrightman99

Actually I will cite Dr. Kenneth Hover, Cornell University who I am sure knows more about concrete than you will ever know; "Concrete is fundamentally porous, whether we like it or not,"

"water/cement ratios of 0.54 were used during the early days of the Interstate system, which led to durability problems that were not recognized until the 1970s"

"at high-performance concrete, low ratios of 0.33, there still is a great deal of porosity in the concrete, he said."

  • @Spywell You bet dude - I am quite sure the good doctor has poured lots of concrete from his desk or maybe the smoking lounge .You have a head like concrete -- the porosity is so low as to be negligible , so stop beating a dead horse .the job was screwed up due to improper sealing of the vault .Use your head there is concrete used for underwater pouring and all the bridges are not falling into the water with rotten footings leaking water into the re-bar ..and the Hoover dam is still standing

  • From eHow: "One of the main problems of any concrete wall is water seepage. This happens when water accumulates around the outside of the wall and slowly seeps through the concretes porous texture. This is due to poorly drained soil and lack of a sealed concrete surface. "

What's that? Water does seep through concrete? Impossible!

  • HAHA I knew it was going to be full of water. Those idiots in Oklahoma don't have BASEMENTS! I bet they had no idea this was going to happen LOL.

  • What if they had found Jimmy Hoffa in the trunk?

  • well if they kept the water they could have just used it as what they kept for 50 years

  • no shit sherlock, of course it would be full of water, its a steel lid with a concrete chamber, water is bound to get in

  • 1957 fail

  • What is not shown in any of these videos is how the people that were there in '57 and there the day Miss Belvedere was taken out.........how many of then went away in tears.....I know I would have.

  • Haha probably so. Just goes to show the average intelligence of your typical Okie.

  • sad

  • what did they put in the trunk, common stuff from the 50s?

  • Beer, Gas and instructions on how to start the car. they thought we wouldn't know how to do so.

  • Not to be too critical --- but was everybody in Tulsa retarded in 1957.

Asteel lid on a concrete chanber is bound to rust and seep water -- even in a few years .making the car trash---- the entire chamber needed to be cast in concrete or totally welded steel with lots of Anode plates------ these are idiot Polititians bringing in Moron tourists.

  • @millwrightman99

They were retarded then and they're just as retarded now. There's only two types of people that live in Oklahoma: hicks and bible thumpers.

  • @millwrightman99

Apparently you are just as "retarded"; "not to be too critical" but you are wrong.

The problem was the concrete, this is just like a basement where water can seep through the concrete and create mold. If they would have sealed the concrete with epoxy, it might have lasted many more years.

In Kansas, a de-humidifier in a unsealed concrete basement built in 2005 can average 1-2 gallons of water being pulled out of the basement PER DAY!

  • @Spywell Num nuts -- you know what they say a little bit of knowledge is worse than no knowledge at all .The reason you pull water out of a basement is not because it seeps through concrete -- but through the footing Humidity is just moisture -- it will not enter a sealed container even concrete if a good mix is used .Most houses built on high water level areas have sump pumps in order to relieve hydraulic pressure and pust the house up .

This is a town that decided to bury the car not a kid.

  • @millwrightman99 I happen to know for a fact that water seeps through concrete very easily especially when the concrete starts to age. If they stuck a large steel lid on this tomb it will accelerate the aging process.

It's also not hard to prove, a simple google search using the keywords "water", "seeps" and "concrete" populated thousands of results of people having trouble with the water coming into their basement. Besides that, Oklahoma virtually hasn't any basements.

  • 50 year old water

  • @Silverthehedgehogxx: Let's drink some. MMM...50 year old water. ; )

  • It has been almost two years since the car was unburied hopefully now it has quite a different appearance.

  • I read somewhere that the lawn sprinklers above the vault were the culprit.

  • it wasn't concrete being pumped on to the car it's called Cosmolene a waxy grease - they used to preserve guns during wwII - and then covered with a multitude of plastic tarpaulin sheets. They are hoping it will be donated to the local museum.

  • So what's the latest on this car?

  • Christine's sequel? - The First Amphicar. Would make a good episode of Engineering Disasters on the Discovery Channel. What a shame.

  • It was buried beneath an irrigated landscape area in a vault with no drainage system and evidently no waterproofing treatment for the concrete either, WTF?

  • thats where I left it!...now I remember..

  • what happened to all the liquid concrete which was being pumped around the car in the 1957 newsreel...where did all that go? turn into water? i dont think so.perhaps this is not the vehicle "originally" buried in 1957.

  • Hey! You must be right! They were totally incasing it in cement, correct? So I guess we would be chipping the "real" car out of a solid block of concrete had not someone slipped in one night, removed and replaced it with "another" brand new 1957 Belvedere, and put the grass back before sunrise. LOL! Keep the thinking up Edison. ;D

  • still dosent explain the absence of a few tons of concrete tho!!

  • p.s....i think u mean "Einstein"!!!

  • No, I "meant" Edison. As in Thomas. You need to broaden you mind. Just stop before you fall farther behind. ;)

  • ahh..i see..still dosent explain the concrete...any ideas??

  • Jezze! Look closer. It is not being pumped with concrete! Why would it need to be? "IT IS A CEMENT VAULT!" So, what do you suppose they might have been doing Edison? Perhaps vacuuming out the vault of all any loose dirt or other items that must have fallen in during the incription of the car? Seems logical. Maybe even drying out any moisture that may have collected with warm forced air before sealing it for 50 years? Gee, just what was it those crazy people were doing? ;)

  • christ..dumb or what..take a look at the TULSA COUNTY BURIED 1957 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE clip...the PERIOD black and white footage clearly shows cement being pumped around the car!!!

  • youre a fucking weirdo

  • Can you imagine trying to get an engine running thats been under water for 49 years...Aint no way!..Cylinder walls probably rusted through.

  • It will be collectable. but as only a piece of rusty shit..It'll bring big bucks at the Kruse or Scottsdale auctions!

  • Hm,the knowledge was around in 1957 to make a concrete vault waterproof and sealed but those responsible probably never consulted an expert in the matter. A concrete lid won't keep water out. The engine might still work.

  • yanks sure are dumb !

  • i came from holland to see this car in tulsa (ok) i was disapointed of the condition of the car but i saw that they closed the tomb with concreet plates.. the tomb was like a swimming pool. it was full of water.

for the people that don`t know what this is they puth this car under the ground in 1957 and 50 years later they unvieling it.. with no succes of the car look at mine video`s greetz don carrera

  • I guess they never thought it would rain, or anything like that. Like my Grandfather always said, "Water loves a hollow." So I guess, in a way, my Grandfather was right about that.

  • Is there a video yet of what the car actually looks like??

  • It's finally been uncovered:

    youtube com/watch?v=ye4WOha1f2k

  • its only a photo. are there any video?

  • Okay now how many people don't know where Tulsa is? More people probably know where Tulsa is then OKC.

  • anyway...stiff shit.

  • To bad they did not think about installing a sump pump system...
