  • Now we know what happened to Gary Owens after Laugh-In!

  • I wonder what the band thought of those dancers flopping all around them while they are trying to do their thing...

  • this is when i watched TV with my parents and afterwards it was CHIPS! great times

  • I miss Solid Gold!

  • Vince trying to look all grown up.... TOO FUNNY!!

  • The Dobbie Brothers, are smoking up the charts? LMAO!!

  • lol.... Vince Gill as a teenager

  • no john david call not the real pure prairie league by any means

  • It's great seeing a younger Vince Gill with long hair and a beard.

Man, I remember all of these top 10 songs except for Robbie Dupree's Hot Rod Hearts. None of these are big favorites for me, but still a pretty good selection of songs.

  • In an interview, Vince Gill said he got in trouble with the producers because they didn't want the singers to look at the dancers.

  • All right, Vince, pretty good lip-sync! And to hear you handling your own background vocals at the same time...now that's talent!

  • THis is probably from the rebroadcast, which would have aired on 12/27/80 or 1/3/81.

  • @zachhoran - actually yes it is. If you listen, during the intro, Dionne says this is an encore presentation of an episode as their way of wishing us a Happy New Year.

  • @zachhoran was this originally broadcast in Sept/Oct of 1980?

  • @MrJacMac1986 - original broadcast was 10/4/1980 and then rebroadcast was 12/27/1980 (I believe).

  • that was pretty cool thanks for posting it! Brings back alot of memories!

  • PPL rocks this one ... Vince is doing solid tight tune with the band , and the Solid Gold Dancers kept our eyes on the little square tv set "Back in the day " .. maybe even more than the bands did ! Still hot today too..

  • I saw PPL, David Allan Coe, and Grinderswitch together about 1980. I guess Vince would have been with PPL at that time?

  • yeah, well, vince gill replacing the original lead is about like donny osmond replacing mick jagger on the stones. i was kinda surprised seeing the title of this clip talking about pure prairie league in 81- thought that was a little late.

  • INTERPERTIVE DANCERS ROCK THE WORLD!!!!!!!

  • OH YUM! Baby Vince Gill!

  • Great! Great! Great! It's "The Running Man" without the wrestlers! Great!

  • Vince Gill with a beard - lol!

  • that's vince gill singing lead!

  • Wow that's Vince Gill! Did see this episode.

  • I love Solid Gold! But this song kinda sucks ass.

  • Recognize Vince Gill?? many people don't know he was the replacement lead singer for the original lead. I met him at a Milwaukee Fest concert, around 1983, he wasn't known then!!!!! WOW did that change. Also marshall Tucker and Firefall were on the playbill. been a fan of his ever since!!! Had backstage passes to it, how cool, 20,000 people look'in up at ya!!!! Never forget it!!!!

  • I can't believe I used to watch this cheezy show!

  • @dlrmo6370 you know it really irks me when people come back 30 years later and knock something simply because the styles and tastes have changed. You wouldn't watched it back then if you thought it was cheesy and at that time it was a great show that lasted almost a decade. Just like watching old 50's horror movies (like THE BLOB) - the height of technology at the time. Just because we advanced doesn't make it less than it was AT THAT POINT IN TIME.

  • I remember seeing them on this show. I thought the lead singer was cute. I didn't realize it was Vince Gill until years later.

  • @carl22069 Unfortunately it is not available on DVD at this time.

  • Hilarious!

  • Old Vince ALMOST lost it on that intro when that little chicky danced up to him! PRICLESS!!!!

  • Damn - Vince Gil really hasn't changed much in 30 years.

  • Yeah that's Mike Reilly on bass, great player, under-rated IMHO

  • OMG!!! Look at this young, hairy Vince Gill!!!! LOL This almost too funny to watch!!!! Good thing you did go to Nashville Vince, this moment is proof enough!!!

  • and its rocky and the pat benator girl again but rocky doesnt do the close

  • this one pam does this funny knee squat in the closing song

  • Vince Gill-guitar, lead vocals

    Mike Reilly-bass

    Michael Conner-piano

    Billy Hinds-bass

    Jeff Wilson-guitar, bgvs

This is the line-up that recorded the top 10 hit, "Let Me Love You Tonight". The look on Gill's face while these chic 80's babes are dancing around him is priceless!!!

  • Oops, Billy Hinds-DRUMS, that's what I get for typing too fast!

  • @ShadeB93 I know, I love his smile like, " Can you believe how lucky we are?" I LOVED this show, I wanted to be a solid gold dancer!

    1

  • Is that Ken Gradney from Feat on bass?

  • The bassist (if I am correct) is Craig Fuller, who had an association with the band 'Little Feat' and the guitarist on vocals for this song is Vince Gill.

I see no mention anywhere for a Ken Gradney anywhere in Pure Prairie League.

  • Craig Fuller never had an afro.

  • I don't know what he looks like. I was just going with who were listed members of the band.

So, basically then, I don't know who that is.

    Sorry.

  • Billy Hinds on drums!!!!!!

  • lmao.......look at vince......ty so much for posting lbCHarmed1....i told my daughters vince was in a rock band before country, now they can see it.

  • Thanks for commenting, I had no idea he was in this band before his solo country career until the comment below!!

  • you are welcome

  • Not only was Vince Gill in this band, he nearly became a member of the band Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler wanted him, but Vince decided he wanted to try to make it in Nashville.

  • Could have sworn that it was REO Speedwagan!

  • Vince Gill on lead vocals. This video is great, thanks.
