@marek0086 Efficiency is a measure of a ratio between two variables. Yes, it is not fuel efficient. But it is very much size efficient. And mechanically efficient with only three moving parts. Cars my not be the number one application for this motor; I could only imagine what a scaled down version would do in a sport bike. I do believe this motor is a mechanical marvel. Buy every man is entitled to his own opinion.

fly wheel and mid pipe probably the 2 best things you can do for the rx8. i have the act prolight flywheel on my car made a huge difference. another big thing you can do is lighter rims and calipers. those will all help the car run faster with out increasing power.
@whengeton bit late.. but before you get power you should focus on the handling like brakes, coilovers, so on.. Not to smart to have a stock hight, with some understeer pushing more hp then what it was designed for.. you can get in some deep shit.

Top gear like last year or the year before. Clarkson drove an M3 vs I think it was the Stig who drove a Prius. The Prius (60mpg) set the fastest lap it could and the M3 followed it; not passed, just followed. At the end the Prius averaged 17mpg at racing speed while the M3 that stayed on its tail the entire time averaged 19mpg. GG :)

@marek0086 the renesis doesn't make much torque, agreed. But a forced induction rotary (either 2, 3 or 4 rotor) will make plenty of torque and more horsepower per liter than a piston engine, usually. You don't need more torque than given unless you're towing. Now, go drive your diesel to your family reunion and find yourself a girlfriend

@its0a0me do you have an 8? on hot pavement and summer tires (max performance) my 8 will not break traction in 2nd unless i dump the clutch, but that's because my peak horsepower is made at redline.. on a cool day if i redline 1st and shift into 2nd i can easily lose traction and keep them spinning. It's not the same as a piston engine and cant really be compared by 1/4 mile times or 0-60. It's a track car plain and simple.

my rx-8 out handled a 2002 camaro ss and stayed within 1 car length distance when the camaro caught up. using only my finger tips from one hand doing 145 plus handles and accelerates great in 6th gear. Lots of confident driving even with Dunlop OEM wheels dude!

A rotary engine can also generate the same power as a conventional engine with much small displacement and therefore less weight. It's only problem is that fuel doesn't burn as completely, so it has extra thermal chambers to add O2 to the exhaust, which is hot enough to ignite again. Also, a mazda rotary engine doesn't cause nearly as much vibration and rocking as a regular engine since there are no pistons moving in opposing directions.
Wow Boxingfan...learn more about cars before you post. All mid-engine means is it's placed slightly behind the front axle for more even weight distribution. The car is still RWD, the engine supplying power and torque to the rear wheels regardless of where it's placed. Also with the then obviously much shorter drivetrain and advanced transmission, you don't have as much power loss.

I found the the RacingBeat exhaust is a bit quiet and that might be what you want. you see I have the mazdaspeed cold air intake and I wanted to match it with the exhaust.And Iam happy with them.

For the size of the renesis, 150ft-lbs is plenty, considering it revs to 9 grand. You also have to remember, unless it's been converted to forced induction, the rx-8 is for hugging corners, not blasting 1/4 miles.

@its0a0me do you have an 8? on hot pavement and summer tires (max performance) my 8 will not break traction in 2nd unless i dump the clutch, but that's because my peak horsepower is made at redline.. on a cool day if i redline 1st and shift into 2nd i can easily lose traction and keep them spinning. It's not the same as a piston engine and cant really be compared by 1/4 mile times or 0-60. It's a track car plain and simple.

Put your foot down when you're IN 2nd gear (from lower revs) NO CLUTCH!.... it will not break traction under its own power/torque band!

I never said the chassis wasnt good!.... infact the RX-8 Chassis is very good. Its got proper balance n all that. I also never said anything about light to light racing either! Drag racing is lame!
The term "track car" doesnt just describes the cars handling and suspension. It also implies a narrow / "peaky" power band.

my rx-8 out handled a 2002 camaro ss and stayed within 1 car length distance when the camaro caught up. using only my finger tips from one hand doing 145 plus handles and accelerates great in 6th gear. Lots of confident driving even with Dunlop OEM wheels dude!

A rotary engine can also generate the same power as a conventional engine with much small displacement and therefore less weight. It's only problem is that fuel doesn't burn as completely, so it has extra thermal chambers to add O2 to the exhaust, which is hot enough to ignite again. Also, a mazda rotary engine doesn't cause nearly as much vibration and rocking as a regular engine since there are no pistons moving in opposing directions.

Wow Boxingfan...learn more about cars before you post. All mid-engine means is it's placed slightly behind the front axle for more even weight distribution. The car is still RWD, the engine supplying power and torque to the rear wheels regardless of where it's placed. Also with the then obviously much shorter drivetrain and advanced transmission, you don't have as much power loss.

it lays about 10 to 15 hp, plus the car feels more responsive. In the future I will integrate pettit racing supercharger, and that will pull about 40% more horses.

well, for me I wanted to stay as close to the mazda products as possible, but besides price range is up to you, I also liked the racingbeat exhaust syatem. but it is up to your taste for sound and looks. I found the the RacingBeat exhaust is a bit quiet and that might be what you want. you see I have the mazdaspeed cold air intake and I wanted to match it with the exhaust.And Iam happy with them.

i agree, i want my rx8 to hav similiar mazda parts so all i want is mazdaspeed [& i also dont want to get into trouble w/ police and my aftermarket performance part], just the simple stuff.... dual muffler exhaust, CAI, front + rear strut bars & stabilizer bars, etc.
just the under-the-car or under-the-hood, i like to keep my exterior with a 'sleeper' look.

I now what my car can do and I love it. if I wanted to have a racier car I would had bought a 95 rx7 prep it with a 20b rotary engine, and would had gon to the street to kick your brothers sorry ass Supra in high boost.

first of all I did a lot of research on line and in you tube, as you problablie is doing.
to me and my personal taste, I wanted an exhaust that sounded preditory but not too loud as for some others, PRICE RANGE WAS GOOD and I also wanted to stick with mazdas original upgrades, but some time that is not the best bet, there for is realy up to your own taste. I'm sure it will work on a maz6, but you have to get it for a maz6 not an rx8.
keep in mind that the sound will be diferent,
the Rx8 is a rotary eng, compared to your maz6 conventional engine, but Im sure on you get it done you will like it.
(and no my Rx8 is not turbo yet)
