It is shocking how our founding fathers were revolutionist and carried for the nation's success, fighting for a reason. Sadly, we have fallen far from that, lacking revolutionary ideas that will inspire and uphold our nation.
This is truly great. As a teacher, it is difficult to get the students involved with the Declaration of Independence, especially if I read it to them and review it. Having celebrities do it sparks an interest in the kids that they pay more attention to.
THE TIME HAS COME TO RETURN GOVERNMENT TO THE PEOPLE............THE Weathiest 1% RULES THE OTHER 99% OF US, yes, OF US. WE DO NOT HAVE TO ALLOW THIS PICK-POCKETING OF US. THE TIME HAS COME FOR THE 99%ers, TO TAKE BACK OUR NATION,from SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS from ELECTED OFFICIALS who think that the laws of OUR NATION don't apply to them. That these people who are where they are because of US, to do what is in the best interest of US. THEY HAVE FAILED US! ENOUGH 1%.
@SteeLiAmAzE i don't really understand what you people want. you want people to stop fighting for their liberty and gladly bend and spread like you do ? sorry, you're kind is in extinction right now...
@SteeLiAmAzE of course I'm sure, what kind of question is that ? I'm not like you a traitor, going against the very people that are fighting for my freedom. yes, they are fighting for you too even though you're trashing them. but they'll keep fighting FOR you no matter what, even if u didn't asked them. they have no beef against you at all because you're just a distraction, you're not the enemy.
There exist not a Goddman book in the whole of the world ,that states one has to be an American born citizen to be decent.brave, good or God loving. No fucking way.And yet my spirit remains intact Amen.
@Spangas08 In the shortest summary it's about a nation developing, breaking free from England because of taxation and laws they felt unfair. Perhaps written by very wealthy men of the time but voicing the opinions of many... Is there a reason only you understand this or something?

I find myself confused and frustrated watching this video since most of the people present there support a form of government so far away from what the founders originally intended, that they could be reading a Disney story and not even notice the difference.
@Justbeatit999 You have no understanding of the Constitution. The Constitution nor the Declaration of Independence ever say what kind of economic system we must have. The government is only required to uphold the civil and human rights of the people. There is nothing in there that says we have to be Capitalist. There's nothing in there that says the government cannot provide for the common welfare of the people.
@jacobwalters85 Actually, Mel Gibson WAS born in America. Peekskill, New York to be exact. He moved to Australia at the age of 12 with his parents and holds duel citizenship.

Part 2: this also means that religion should not be in our respective State or National Governmet like it is today, when religion is in our government it's over ruling anothers religion or god, which the declaration of independece clear states should not happen, but it has. I'm an Atheist which means I don't believe in any god or religion this is why the speration is so important, not just for us Athiest but for others as well.
@trainsofamerica America was founded on Christian principles and by Christian men. America is a Christian nation and if you don't agree with the unity of religion and government, shut up or move to another country where this is not the case.
@DJinator117 Actually, I hate to burst your bubble, but the Founding Fathers were primarily just Deists. Most of them didn't believe in the divinity of Christ. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Christian -- studying to be a youth pastor even. Those are really just the facts. They believed in God, but didn't believe he had any hand in the affairs of humans.

@DJinator117 Not true. I assume you've heard of Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd President of the USA, and the man who wrote this very Declaration? He himself coined the term "wall of separation" in letters he wrote. This wall referred to the separation that is, and ought to be, present between the government of America and any particular religion. The Founding Fathers were by and large Deists- they believed in God, but were not Christian. However, they never imposed this upon us.
At the start of the Declaration of Independence it say "when in the course of human events it becomes nessery for one people to desolve the which have connected them with another and to assume the powers of the earth the seperate and equail station to which the laws of nature and the nature's god in titled them decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they declare the causes which impels them to the seperation" Which means that no god should over rule anothers god or religion.
This has nothing to do with God, he has sat and done nothing so he has no place in this matter. Free your self and stop begging for help from something that doesn't exist or has ever show face. Religion is bullshit and should take a back seat and let people be truly free to think what they like.
@Scarramanga How can anyone be truly free "to think what they like" when there are people such as yourself who seek to ridicule and reduce the rights of people of faith in expressing their thoughts and beliefs based on religions or practices of faith. Secularism is merely one process of thought, and to attempt deny all others is as tyrannical as you claim religions to be.
@danewage My statement was in reference to the top comment "God bless America!" this video has nothing to do with god, its for political a vote! I am expressing my opinion and nothing more. I feel that we should think for our self without God. The evidence of violence that has taken place for thousands of years through religion/segregation is shocking, so much unneeded death! We are all the same, why should religion make us different? Taking to yourself at night, it's crazy no one is there!
@Scarramanga The violence attributed with religion and spirituality usually have little to nothing to do with the actual precepts of the religion, and more to the with the bigotry and prejudices and pride of those who claim association with said faith. If religions weren't such convenient scape-goats for the inherently violent natures of mankind, we would have found some alternative. The doctrine of secularism, the gospel of environmentalism; we will always find a way to "segregate" ourselves.

@danewage I totally understand what you're suggesting about them moving beyond prejudice by having an Indian read that part of the Declaration, but to be honest, as an American Indian person myself, I am significantly disappointed in Graham Greene; then again, he is a Canadian Indian, not an American Indian, and yes, there is a historical and contemporary difference.
@lovegoodmusicrock it's a legitimate grievance. the british were using the natives as allies against the population when it suited their interests. although a bit harsh in it's language and denying native americans the same humanity the document aims to protect, we are seeing very similar behavior from the current US government with regards to their policy against the arab world. i've never incited an arab to wage war against me, but my government has and continues to do so.
Too bad they are paid to do this and spit out these lines they are from a movie. Those ideas changed the world and are the foundation of our country. Too bad washington and hollywood think differently
i have no interest in stupid youtube battles - dont tell me what i can and cant understand.

Why are elitist celebrities reading our declaration of Independence? They and their industry, like the republacrats are part of the problem. Hollywood has systematically brainwashed people through escapism to the point that they no longer care about the Declaration of Independence unless some celebrity is reading it.

Why are elitist celebrities reading our declaration of Independence? They and their industry, like the republacrats are part of the problem. Hollywood has systematically brainwashed people through escapism to the point that they no longer care about the Declaration of Independence unless some celebrity is reading it.

Pretty cool. Aside from his political and religious view, Mel Gibson does have a good speaking voice.
