I lived in Austin, Texas and want to go back too. But my wife go a job here in Dallas. I was able to transfer my job here cause I work for the State of Texas. But I want to go back so badly.
I can understand where you're coming from with the whole festival thing. Coachella is wayyy expensive and T in the Park is just not in America (fuck that).
Buuuuttttt Warped Tour isn't hundreds of dollars. It's actually $34 this year. Also, Warped tour isn't one of those music festivals where it's one big stage and a huge crowd of 10,000 or whatever crowds around it. It usually has at least three stages, so wherever you are it's an intimate live music experience.
Oh Robert...I would pay $100 (more, actually) to see Rooney live...no complaints there, I reckon? lol

When bands play big locations it looses the personal connection. I felt the connection at you show in St. Petersburg, FL. In June. I don't feel the same connection when it's in big crowds. I really appreciate your honesty. Cause the reason why bands play big places is for the BIG money that comes in. Atleast that's what I think.

i'm not sure if you can control the venue thing once your celebrity gets out of hand. bon jovi's FREE concert tickets in central park are listed for thousands of dollars on ebay. sad. didn't pearl jam try to control their ticket prices? i think they were/are successful w/ that part of it.
i hope you find a way to keep playing intimate venues and charge decent prices for tix and still be as rich and famous as you want to be :)

You're definetly right about smaller venues v. huge stadiums. At the arena shows, the tickets are ridiculously priced, the seats you get can be so bad sometimes you have to watch the band perform on a screen, and the sound quality sucks. At the smaller club concerts(especially Rooney's), no matter where you are you can see the band, the ticket price is amazing, and you guys always have meet and greets which are unique to Rooney. Thanks guys for being amazing and for caring about your fans.

Your concert in Baltimore was the first one I had been to like that (well I haven't been to too many concerts, haha) and I had such a great time. I agree about the venue size! I have been to a lot of concerts, and the smaller venues are always so much better. Was at the Dallas show the other day...front row center...it was fantastic. I wish you guys came closer to Kansas (other than Omaha...which we were there too). But it's ok, it was a nice roadtrip down to Dallas ;)

I agree about the venue being important. Once I saw the Arctic Monkeys (one of my fav bands) and the sound totally sucked. It was a pretty small venue which was nice but the sound was really bad. I'm really happy to hear someone has the same views regarding relationships between bands and fans. I have skipped out on some great shows because of the lack of intimacy, you end up having to deal more with the crowd then enjoying the music and the band.

So check it. I went to Warped Tour AND your show. I saw you at the Austin show. And this was after I went to Warped Tour in San Antonio (an hour away.) from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The minute that was done we drove the hour+ to Austin to go to your show. That's how badley I wanted to see you guys. Your welcome. :)

When the time is ripe you will change the town and you will play perhaps in big venues feeling that all this is quite normal.Often you don't realize that your subconscious works helping you to grow for to make new experiences witch before you didn't feel to want make or for put you on the way you wish to go.Generally i don't like big venues like big city or big stores or big concert venues. Also a famous guy like you are is sometime afraid of being alone thinking to leave LA or imagining to have to play in front of thousand of people in too weird and big venues.But a decision is always the last step of a ripening started a long time ago.When in your life a change is happening you recognize that the jump you are making is often not so hight as you thought,it's just the last step from a stairway you was going up since many time.

You're definetly right about smaller venues v. huge stadiums. At the arena shows, the tickets are ridiculously priced, the seats you get can be so bad sometimes you have to watch the band perform on a screen, and the sound quality sucks. At the smaller club concerts(especially Rooney's), no matter where you are you can see the band, the ticket price is amazing, and you guys always have meet and greets which are unique to Rooney. Thanks guys for being amazing and for caring about your fans.

I love watching your videos :D Seriously, you're so cool for always doing these. Don't ever stop, I'll always watch. I see your point on the music venues. Your concert in Baltimore was the first one I had been to like that (well I haven't been to too many concerts, haha) and I had such a great time. I definitely wouldn't mind if all concerts were like that! Glad you had a pretty good 4th; I was watching fireworks from the White House lawn, so that was cool, though kinda rainy and wet.

agreed- sad that bands/mgmt/whoever charges $100s for concert tickets at arena shows. i've paid that for tons of shows and it reeeeally sucks. i would pay 100s for rooney (since 'i'm a sucka'-haha) but i hope i never have to :) have fun the rest of the tour, robert. hi to ned, taylor, matt and louie!

I agree about the venue size! I have been to a lot of concerts, and the smaller venues are always so much better. Was at the Dallas show the other day...front row center...it was fantastic. I wish you guys came closer to Kansas (other than Omaha...which we were there too). But it's ok, it was a nice roadtrip down to Dallas ;)

i most definately agree smaller venues are the best. Especially when you can actually see the person who;s performing and they don't look like little ants.
But yeah I wonder how many people are going to make you Mint Chocolate Chip now. Which i've never had but it sure sounds good. Maybe you should hit up Dairy Queen and get the Thin Mint Blizzard and report on it! :D Haha you sang "youth of the nation" which i have to admit i loved and i'll admit the song.

i just think it is really cool how much you care about your fans. i went to your concert in madison back in april...and it was so amazing and personal. i didn't even know much about you guys then, but i walked out with a signed poster and then bought all your music. and now i pretty much live for your video diaries. anyway, thanks for all you do for crazy fans like me.

I agree about the venue being important. Once I saw the Arctic Monkeys (one of my fav bands) and the sound totally sucked. It was a pretty small venue which was nice but the sound was really bad. I really want to see you guys soon and with GOOD sound, haha. Nice hat. Glad you're feeling better. Keep it real.

hey robert! glad you are feeling better. I totally agree with you about the whole ticket prices thing and how concerts should be smaller and more intimate. I payed who knows how much for tickets to see the Jonas Brothers 3 times this summer and now I'm wishing I had only gotten tickets to one show and come and seen you guys more. O well... there is always yalls' next tour! I will be there :-)

I'm really happy to hear someone has the same views regarding relationships between bands and fans. I have skipped out on some great shows because of the lack of intimacy, you end up having to deal more with the crowd then enjoying the music and the band.

i get your point. the sing is the fans would talk during the song or they would be on there damn cell phone talking to people and its like why did u bother getting tickets and being there if your not going to injoy the show and put the cell phone down. the rule should be no cell photos aloud in concerts.
