naw shit it wont work exactly, use DC power, AC will cause humming and generates more watts than amp, remember when you connect 2 ends to the same area you will create a "short" and just like normal fires, heat is generated from pos and ned collision, to make it work better i recomend using DC power (4 Dsize batteries) or use the speaker system from an old computer speaker, stronger magnet, put the coil of wire around the magnet and attach the coil to the aluminum (on the underside of aluminum)

Here's a way to make a homemade speaker even cheaper, safer, and with better quality! First, take a paper plate and wrap it with aluminum foil. Next, place a penny and tape it onto the aluminum foil. Then, take that spare speaker that you never use(or buy a cheap one) and plug it in behind the paper plate. Plug in your audio input device into your new homemade speaker! Enjoy!

You don't want to connect any thing like this to any amplifier you care about. Read up a little on the meaning off impedance, and the requirements for your gear. I have made several home made speakers for fun but use a crappy old amp or home made amp circuit.

This particular version would also work as a microphone.

As for Hi-Fi sound, not a chance!
